  • SP4449 & UP844 must be bff's cause i see them in a lot of side videos.

  • Traingasmn :D Loved it!

  • tRIPLE hEAD

  • Great train but the cameraman and the chase car that could not keep up leave a lot to be desired.

  • That would be cool if they triple headed with 3985, even more rare.

  • @dylanbobby1: And there will be debates on which engine should lead! Let's hope that happens some day.

  • @dylanbobby1 That would be awesome... and if Big Boy was operated... SWEET!

  • why is it that older steam locomotives had tall smoke stacks and steadily as the years progressed, by the time the end of the steam era arrived the newer ones had none at all?

  • @briquetaverne inside the smokebox is the reason. Pettiecoats...

  • At least hes not texting and driving. LMAO!! Just kidding man.

  • that right there is the double header dream team

  • I love this video. To see a doubleheader like that come thundering by you has to be one hell of an experience.

  • Did anyone notice the patch on the SP 4449? Note: It says UP 845!

  • Yup, UPY 845.

  • I always anticipated UP doing something like that!

  • Yup, if you watch Legends of Steam vol.2, the 844 & 4449 crews pull pranks on eachother.

1: The 844's crew gave Doyle the UP yard engine 845 patch.

2: The 4449's crew relettered 844's tender with Southern Pacific letters.

3: At the end, 844's crew put notices on the back of 4449's tender saying "Home Shop For Repars Do Not Load".

  • Boy, those smoke deflectors on the #844 really do their job well!

  • US has better trains than us..

  • Maybe, but at least we don't have those damned bells ringing all the time...

  • cool vids though!!! yes i know mirror was misspelled

  • u couda at least moved the mirrow

  • Is that a UP patch on the 4449? :D

  • Yup, "UPY #845".

  • ARRRRR she be a comin to Michigan at the end of July 4 four days ARRRRRRRR and itll be in Owosso, where the 1225 lives ARRRRRRRR -(me being a pirate) - kool vid

  • I bet that was cool to see them come thundering by on the rails like that. WOW

  • who was that kid at the end of the first clip?

  • that was absolutely awesome

    what year was that?

  • May of 2007.

  • beutiful! look at her go.

  • What whistle does that UP 844 have? It sounds awesome.

  • What a Thrill to have such History pass by!

  • You have to LOVE the sound of those old whistles. It's amazing to see these classic locomotives doing what they were born to do instead of rottiing away in some old yard.

Seeing them up close barking steam has to be one HELL of an experience.

  • Every time i here the 844 whistle it puts chills down my back I love it...

  • Wow! What great shots and sounds!

  • thats a lot of power

  • Well done, you have nice video`s.

Plz watch myn video about chasing a steamtrain from very close.

    enjoy.

  • This train was awsome! i8 like these things man

  • Lol! At 51 seconds you hear people screaming like maniacs! That really cracked me up.

  • Helluva catch.

  • one time, some guy got so worked up about the 4449 he had a heart-attack. He's okay now, but it just goes to show the spiritual impact of these machines. Its just so intense. Tru story.

  • sounds beautiful!

  • Um, hard to tell, but I think that UP Police were in your rear-view mirror! I've seen their Ford Explorer vehicles a few times, including at Penn. Jct. when the steam came through.

  • Yup, he was behind me on the second clip, and I was aware of it.

  • Why does 4449 have 845 on the cab?

  • The #845 was a removable magnetic sheet. Maybe it was a practical joke on Union Pacific's practice of patching?

  • That's the way I heard it.

  • It was a prank. The two crews were constantly playing jokes on each other. The SP crew put "Southern" on the UP 844 tender in Fife on the last day! :D

  • NICE!!!

  • Tell those foamers to be quiet! No manners I say!

  • Haha, that's great! I'm spotted! I'm the Silver Car, the Scion xA at 1:32!!

  • Guys. They are now in TACOMA! The Pacific Steam Excursion is commencing tomorrow for a shakedown run to Everett, WA, and back. I have taken the liberty of notifying security authorities along the BNSF to keep pedestrians away from the skybridges (apparently some idiot in adminstrative offices forgot to do that) while they pass underneath. It's dangerous to be above an engine. :)

  • No more dangerous than any other train. What makes you think its more dangerous?

  • Ha! I think I spoted you in my video of it coming to Vancouver! I'll post that video tonight.

  • dude this is the only video i found with them both whistling in! nice vid!

  • they both whidtle when they meat in chehalis.

  • is there a youtube video of that?

  • Yep. I can't wait to see them in person, personnaly, But I can wait.

  • Wait its called Meeting the Doubleheader.
