I wonder when someone will discover that crazy low-pass filtered sample? The horn is definitely from Miles Davis' "Bitches Brew", but I can't find that bassline's source.
on the real tho, this joint preceded Illmatic, Enter the 36, & Ready to Die, this joint right here Enta Da Stage made alot of cats up North go back and rewrite, cats went to the dungeon on beats. Buck, 5 foot and Evil D helped set the stage for NYC to come back cause the Chronic was killing everything, trust me I was there
I think in general, the fact that Nas has an extensive rap career further secures Illmatic as a classic album. And Illmatic is an unquestionable classic regardless of Nas's further fame. Basically, what I'm saying is Black Moon didn't have the run that rappers like Nas or Jigga had, and this leaves Enta Da Stage shadowed as a street classic, when it needs to be looked at for what it is, with removed bias, as a true hip hop classic.
@khasm13 I'm a hardcore Nas fan but I agree with u, my opinion "Enta Da Stage" was better than Illmatic, I never understand y this album is never mentioned in the argument of classic HipHop albums, the word classic is thrown around lightly nowadays, but this album was definately that.
word...this album along with the production was so new and fresh during the time...i rocked this tape every day for a year and a half...no other album was in the rotation like that.ur right, this album should be in the discussion for classic ish during the golden age. the baseline on this cut is so ill.....
Yea this was my 10th grade yr in high school. Heavy rotation in the walkman as well as the house-speakers at the the crib. I think I actually busted one of my speakers to this song. Miss those days...
I´m a old hiphop fan of the 90´s and this is still my ish ! This time of year it´s mad cold where I stay. I put my oody on and my tim boots, crack a 40 of King cobra and stroll the neighbourhood in the dark bumping this :)
@Johnny8109 Aa fan det är synd, den här skivan hamnar i skymundan även för de mest inbitna hip hop fansen. Oftast fokus på illmatic och 36 chambers, men den här håller samma klass. Ska nog köpa vinylutgåvan snart:D
One of my fave albums of all time.. Buckshot was so raw...man...glad I had the chance to meet and hang out with him and the click back in the 90's and early 2000's...love these dudes(pause)
