  • This is some scary stuff

  • she has sowed her mouth together

  • she has sowed her mouth together

    WTF!

  • great add but this is just wrong

  • They showed this at school im YEAR 7

  • They showed this at school IM YEAR 7

  • They showed this at school IM YEAR 7;)

  • i can see why they banned it. it kinda freaks me out!

  • thats disturbing

  • thumbs up if you thought she was gonna make like a mitten or something

  • Aaaaarrrrrhhhhh

  • Aaarrrhhhh

  • i was looking for along time the song of this video..finally a found it..if you want to see the lyrics of this amazing song..search "sugababes- stronger" i think this song is apropiate for the topic..bullying..

  • "Go to your address bar, after the word YOU and before the word TUBE, type in "win" then press enter"

  • wow really horrable scary advert! but i like it im also glad they banned it from tv. wouldnt want my brother seeing this

  • Great Advert, But th stiches on her mouth shocked me a little even though its effects:L

  • are those stiches real or is it special effects

  • @600145 well what do you think? :/

  • @600145 LOL effects obviously

  • well..it is a bit visually disturbing but the message is pretty clear..

  • I don't see why this was banned. lol I've seen a lot worse on kid's tv. lol

  • the adverts abit scary, but i think its just the truth,

if a child is getting buliied,i think this advert shows how they feel.

  • This advert is great. I have just completed my training as a cybermentor and have to say that this is the best video against bullying of any kind that I have ever seen. I think this should be on tv everyday, just to get the message across!

  • i''m really glad i've never felt like that, but one of my friends used to get bullied a lot, just to wind her up

eventually she started annoying me, but i didnt want to stop being her friend because of everyone bullying her

  • Brilliant. As a Granny I would like to say that the bullying problem is not being helped by Teachers who can't seem to tell the difference between the bully and the bullied. My kids even experienced Teachers who were bullies...so did I. Teacher training courses need to include training in how to handle this and we need more Teachers with insight not just degrees. To be a good Teacher you need empathy and actually liking kids would help.I am 56 but still remember Teachers I had who were bullies.

  • GREAT idea! Help those who have no-one to talk to - one day it might be you! Oh and by the way, our disenchanted, binge-drinking, bullying kids of today could do with being shocked. Let the ad run!

  • Thumbs up! As a Senior CyberMentor I can tell that with this campaign we got a great response.

I believe this whole project gives another chance to kids like Megan who may be too scared /shy/ashamed/depressed/... to talk to parents, neighbours, friends (if they have any), dinner ladies, ... Or those who talked, but got just mockery as a response.

    Anybody can speak out NOW!

  • clever advert, its got a clever message about bullying, and i for one think its terrible. I think its a great idea really, they're people you can talk to who will you give you an honest response and help you out. They might feel they cant go to their parents or teachers cos they might feel ashamed. But i think its a great idea, and i think we should stop bullying as soon as we see it.

  • I think the advert is great, and if it helps one person to feel that they can speak out then it is worth every penny.

  • People don't always take it seriously any more, some teachers actively encourage it!

  • I think this is powerful message. in an ideal world everyone could just speak out, but its difficult for many adults let alone kids. not evry1 can talk to parents. i wish i would have spoke up about getting bullied, but didnt feel i could.

bullying shouldnt be 'accepted' - and this message helps confront the myth that its ok to bully.

  • @harex27 I completely agree with you, what is this world coming to.

  • Can't believe people are making such twatish comments here; some people don't have approachable parents, some are scared of the repercussions of 'grassing', some people don't tolerate stress well, some people get so depressed they can't think straight. It may not be a face to face chat with Denise from This Morning but if it helps save a life then by all means seek online help.

  • Liked the ad, but as pessimistic as this may sound; I dont youll ever beat bullying. A lot of children -and teenagers and adults - enjoy it.

But I agree, there should be A LOT more in place to help the victims and to punish bullies.

  • i am disabled n have had bouts of bullying online n offline!

that advert shouldnt have been banned its so strong and everything about the cause of bullyin - it doesnt make you really scared about talking to anyone about it as people have commented it doesnt get worse if people know!

  • this is a very powerful image people should see this.

  • Very powerful image!

  • how is this scary? pls explain, i just think its really powerful and people need to see this.

  • They say this is to bad for tv. I was absolutely disgusted by that horrible advert where the man had ran the boy over. Or how about the dead body of a school girl being shown was disgusting. And the one where the boy is dead and laying everywhere. And THIS is bad?

  • @121garuff

You turn off your mobile, computer, xbox, playstation or whatever, stay off the internet and see how you manage to get work done or talk to friends? Don't be so stupid. I guess your advice against physical bullying is not to leave the house?

  • Can't be aired? That advert where the guy sees that plastic dummy representing the kid he killed drink driving is worse than this.

  • It's directed at people who don't know about cyber bullying, hoping they will sympathize with the victims.

  • Ahh, effective ad even if it is quite chilling.

  • self harm is not the answer!

  • ahhh this advert is so good. its short and to the point (Y) stupid it cant be aired theres way worse stuff on tv =/ not like you see her do it !!!!

  • I don't see why this advert was refused. Driving adverts are far worse than this!

  • wow

  • Thats horrific but it has such a powerful image of what bullying feels like

  • This should be allowed on TV, even if it was just post-watershed. You need something shocking, I'm glad it will be shown on the internet and in cinemas. Speak Out. It Helps.

  • In my opinion this should be on tv shock tactics are sometimes needed to stay in the minds of everyone any form of bullying is disgraceful and poeple need to know help is out there

  • i can't believe they banned this from TV! it's not that graphic! it's shocking yes, but that's the point. some people get really badly affected by bullying and people need to be educated.

  • bullying sucks i was bullied for being me :( but thing is don't be afraid to be you that's what I've learned :D

  • "The advert, refused permission to air on TV by Clearcast (formerly the BACC), depicts a teenage girl sewing her mouth closed, symbolising the way victims feel silenced by bullies. It is this imagery which Clearcast deemed too brutal an image for young audiences. However, the disturbing imagery is designed to drive awareness of the devastating effects bullying can have."

Ok, this might sound like i'm a retard, but does this mean this commercial is banned and will not be shown on TV?

  • i almost agree with you but i knew a girl who was in year 7 and had been abused all her life and when she'd tried to tell people she'd been ignored. by high school she didnt know that hitting people was wrong, she became a bully. the kid she bullied told and her parents were phoned and that night she ended up in hospital coz her abuser put her there, she has severe brain damage now. im just saying that sometimes the bully needs help too, she didnt know it was wrong.

  • jeez thts scarty but it does make you think!!! all bullies think tht its for fun but hundreds of kids kill themselves through bein bullied and then uve got 2 live with bein a murderer for the rest of ur life!

  • I was cyberbullied a lot last year, glad its over.

  • Why Oh WHY is this too graphic for t.v..NONSENSE if it makes one child speakout or one bully rethink our children need to see it, there is much worse in computer games, on t.v and even music videos.. we need to protect our kids and protect them NOW..DO NOT REMAIN SILENT..SPEAK UP AND BE COUNTED!!!

  • OMG that dat is horrible!!!!! crnt belive dat....who eva is a bully should be ASHAMED of their selfs!!!! your making other ppl do the worst things ue would neva dream of,, just becos of UE!!!

  • You can't judo a large gang of kids doing things everytime you turn your back, or who steal and hide your stuff or email you anonymously.

It's a systematic hate campaign that thrives on secrecy and social politics.

  • I think half the time the teachers can be as bad as the kids. They play up to the cool kids and patronise or are repulsed by the ones they can see are socially excluded, even if they try not to be.

When I was a kid I witnessed a sports teacher laughing along with a gang picking on a girl in their class.

And parents can be utterly useless.

What you need is a cultural shift where it's no more acceptable at school than it would be in the office.

  • I think the media really doesn't help. It is one of the most vicious and bullying arenas. Even the BBC indulges in all the incrowd/outcrowd stuff in its programming for younger people.

There is something in people that really does love to gang up on and go in for the kill once it's identified its victim.

I guess there's probably some evolutionary thing behind it - killing off weaker members of the tribe or something.

  • great video and way of putting across the message

  • Good.

    David

  • This is fine to be on TV, I've seen worse (eg, kids getting hit by cars ect *not nice*) This messege has to be out there- reminds me of the movie Speak :) x

  • they should put it on tv because it may help some people not all of them.

  • This counrty is to PC. There is far more worse thing on tv. The people who make these decissions need to wake up an smell the coffee. The problem of bullying will never be wiped out if we do not hightlight it more on primetime tv an not just online and the cinimas

  • i dont think this should have been banned, nowadays people need to be shocked into action.

  • This should be on TV. Clearcast are rediculous for banning it.

  • This is amazing!

  • What is sick is hearing about talented young people killing themselves. This ad would not shock the young people it is aimed at.

  • As a child no teacher assisted in the situations of bullying " Its just kids for you", parents were in an impasse on dealing with the situation due to Education Authority Policies,

So I solved my poroblems of bullying with accepting my mental health issues and applying them.

After I finished with my Bullies, they avoided me like the plague and encouraged others to do so, and all it cost was a weeks detention, but knowing that they were psychologically scared for life is priceless.

  • This advert reminds me of the film 'speak' where Melinda uses eye-liner to draw stitches over her mouth. I think the advert is really powerful and should really work at encouraging people who are being bullied to find their voice and speak out. Great campaign!

  • It is sad that the authorities and media still seem to try and cover over what young people suffer in bullying.

Also you cannot fight bullying without showing the true nature of its cruelty.

There is neither reason nor justification to ban this advert there should never be an excuse by any media to hide sickening reality of what children have to go through when they are tormented like this.

Time our media woke up to the true suffering many of these young people go through.

  • Wait, THIS is too graphic for TV? Sure it's a definite post-watershed, but you never actually see anything happen, just the effect. Some of the films and programmes on TV are much worse than this.

  • well made, but freaky.if i was a little kid and saw that on tv i'd be pretty freaked out..but the good intentions are still there (:

  • I cant believe some of the comments on here. "find a nicer, maybe more pleasant way to put the message across". In case you hadn't realised, bullying is neither nice or pleasant. When children commit suicide because of bullying, adverts like these should be given big publicity. Bullying is damaging and life-changing for some, lets give it the attention it deserves!

  • sorry, but I don't see why tv won't broadcast this, it doesn't show you her doing ANYTHING horrendous....

  • The horror of bullying silences many people. This is not an inappropriate advertisement. I endured 15 years of physical and emotional abuse and I wish there had been initiatives such as these to help when I needed it most.

  • The ad shows exactly that young people suffer on scielnce because no one takes them seriously. How many young people self harm every year and we never take a notice of it or just ignore it. we need more strong image like this.

    Well done to Beatbullying!

  • I dont think this is sick... Its just showing "Dont suffer in silence".... Shows it great in my opinion! But i dont think this is gonan help people who are getting bullied, its not all that easy to help someone being bullied.

  • I must admit, this isn't anywhere near as offensive as I'd thought it was going to be, having heard the fuss in the media etc. Not pleasant, and I think small children would be scared by it, so I back the censors' decision, but I still wish every ounce of luck for the campaign.

  • I got bullied something terrible at school in Crowthorne berks no one did a thing to help and it has affected my life, im getting better but my life has been ruined all the same

  • I think this is exactly what people need to see. I don't understand how it is too brutal for TV, and yet some of the things ON the tv are allowed? Such as a drama programme, I can't remember what it's called, where a woman was cut in half?

Why do they allow fictional things onto TV, but not factual? And as for, there was no bullying in the 50's and 60's, both my mother, who was in primary school in the 60's, and my Auntie, at secondary school in the 60's, were bullied.

  • I spoke to my teachers about bullying it's the best thing i did and ur daft if u don' talk about it because i didn't but the fake smile came off and i had to speak to em. and my mum

  • its a good advert to show people they can speak about it but its upsetting and kinda creepy

  • respect towards society is what young kids need these days. Their brain is rebelious and not fully grown to grasp the notion that respect has to be earned not through fear but mutually. That is why beating should be allowed. Because we are adults we know that beating is not good and respect is not earned that way. But that applies to us. As young kids are not giving shit anymore may be thats the way. We feared in our times cause the beating was there. And then with adulthood came respect.

  • i dont know how people can say that it is a bad video just because a girl is sewing her lips together. i have had a very bad bullying experience and the video just captures that feeling of not being able to let out your feelings.

    thank you!

  • I went to school in the 1940's and early 50's. I never saw any bullying during that time. I only heard of one case and that child only bullied once. The whole school was gathered in the main hall and the child in question was led to the stage up front. We all watched while that child was beaten with a cane. Was that cruel? Or is it better to let innocent children suffer?

  • I agree, i'm in my 40's and there was a bit of bullying, but you always told.. maybe not a teacher or parent but a friend or sibling..some one needs to take control..an that someone is us adults..even if we are old? It starts with RESPECT and TRUST

  • Okay, i'm sorry, I love the anti-bullying aspect, and everything you do to prevent bullying, but scaremongering isn't the way to do it, I can understand bullying itself may not be particularly pleasant, but a video of a girl sewing her lips up? I thought the campaigns had got past the nasty imagery on ads and things, it just creeps people out, to put it simply. You couldn't find a nicer, maybe more pleasant way to put the message across?

  • There is no "pleasant"way to put it.

  • good vid

  • This is a great add and is not offencive or too shocking for tv at all, what a shame it wont get the publicity it needs!

  • A great thought provoking advert campaign and i hope it works for the campaign.

  • wow that's creepy at the end but such a good video for anti-bullying

  • i was being bullied in high school because of how i dressed and how big i was...i never spoke about it and i still get very upset when people stare at me in the street. Talk to someone and you wont feel all alone in the world.

  • Flex its things like this we are talking about, I wish there wasnt bullying and I wish kids had the confidence to speak out, adults too. I wish also that I could help in some way.

  • Hmmm.. clearcast what were you thinking!? This is a really good advert.

    oushkaltd . blogspot . com

  • I was bullied as a kid in school and also at work by two nasty Directors & a really spiteful Manager (thank God all 3 do not work here anymore)...it's really horrible & you must speak up if you are being bullied.

  • good :)

  • A well thought out advert for once, does anyone know the song?

  • Sugababes 'Stronger'

  • i think there is worse imagery on telly, that doesnt have a true meaning like this. i think everyone can relate to this kinda of appeal x

  • Fantastic

  • Some people do it to themselves

  • Powerful and true. This needs to be out there!

  • @ngozi1979 Not really. It only needs to be out there for people like you who stay in your room getting builied over the net. Who then look for videos like this on youtube so they can comment about their problems in the hope some simpathy.

  • I can't believe they have said that that is 'too shocking to appear on tv' I think it's a great ad and it's got the right amount of gravity for the situation.

  • more power to you

  • These clips should be shown in schools during an assembley. My son was bullied for years, he took Judo because the tutors were powerless to stop bullying.

  • Superb

  • I've been there it's horrible

  • hard hitting but I guess it has to be. Well done to show how awful bullying makes you feel, I was bullied for 3 years and it was really horrible.

  • Wow! I didnt see that coming but it properly says how it feels. it took me ages to tell someone wot i was goig through.
