yeah man i understand as i am also a guitarist, all im saying is that try to master or make your own licks at low speeds and then when its perfect improve the speed and then you can use them as fast as ud like... also learn different modes in the scales its kind of hard at first but ull get use to them, im still learning myself... and check out Paul Gilbert thats real "speed" he alternate picks everything not just shredding if u get me..
