  • 5:09 Those pods might been Half-Life 2's inspiration for those creatures that would pull in their unexpected victim for consumption.

  • Why is the picture on the death screen with the Slime Devil a picture of Roger when he was alive?

  • Monolith Burgers

    FTW!!

  • Wait, where's the part where you forgot to shoot the wall before flying out?!

  • @capthorn2 That's Space Quest 1. You go anywhere without shooting in Space Quest 3.

  • I played this when it first came out in 1990..(or was it 1991), anyhoo. Its still my favorite Amiga game.

  • I'm pretty shure, I nearly tried all of them, because I couldn't speak english good enough for this game^^ One of my favourite games :-) I never finished it, but it really was fun!

  • 0:10... EMO!!

  • Can you say TIE FIGHTER at 0:10

  • @ALHighlander2007 yeah there's a Tie Fighter from Star Wars, the Jupiter 2 from Lost in Space, and there's one of the repair pods from 2001: A Space Odyssey. Are there any other classic ships from sci-fi in the garbage ship?

  • NOT A PRETTY SIGHT XD

  • The first death is scary 0_0

  • and the second isn't? O_O

  • Maybe you can download it from abandonware paradise. Use google or yahoo or etc. to find the site then when at abandonware paradise, use the search there for space quest.

  • I don't do abandonware, it seems wrong to me. However, I found the CD and can now do the video. It'll be up real soon.

  • @MrWhitman it seems wrong to download a game that you already own on CD? You've been listening to the man too much.

  • @MrWhitman You can buy the old titles (Space Quest and King's Quest) at Good Old Games (gog.com)

  • @MrWhitman

I think wether or not abandonware is wrong depends on if the game is still being sold and on how old it is.

If it's not being sold, well you ain't really taking away anyone's profit, right? After all no one is SELLING it. This one is a no brainer anyone should be able to agree with far as I'm concerned.

I personally also think that making all games about a decade old and older abandonware as many software companies actually DO, is the right thing to do too. But that's how I feel.

  • You forgot to add the death of falling off the conveyer belt. The message before the death message is different from the message after falling off the rail.

  • Thank you for pointing it out, but I unfortunately lost the CD for the game and I can't play it without. I may find it later but in the meantime, if anyone has the CD and can check this death out and post it as a video response, I'd appreciate it.

  • this is the one i remember most!!!!!!!!!!!!! roger wilco yayyyyyyyyyyyyyy

  • It's obvious the game is laughing at you when you die.

It's unusual to get laughed by a computer!

  • This was the only Spacequest I ever played, but it was awesome! And in a strange way you were rewarded for dying.

  • hahahaha I remember this when I was a kid watching my cousins playing this

  • wow they got lazy on the fail messages pretty fast.

  • You can say that again. But maybe they couldn't think of anything.

  • anyone know where to find some really brutal old video game deaths?

  • Wow... games these days don't have so many unique game over screens (or as much charm!), It's 2009 and I can still LMAO at some of these jokes and this game made TWO decades ago!!. THX for the memories!!!

  • What about dying of an overdose of fast food? :D

  • Never heard of it. I'll try it.

  • What about using light speed in the ship? Does that have any special results?

  • Nope. That just gets you to your destination faster than any other mode.

  • Did it work?

  • No, it didn't work.

  • lol you canceled your subscription to life XDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD

  • Two mice beat the living crap out of you.

  • they couldn't think of any messages for any of the death scenes on the desert place!

  • thx for the MEMORIES!!!! loved them all!!!!

  • I see a Wall*E look alike at 1:20

  • looks more like rob

  • look-alike is not the right term since it implies that the design for Wall-E existed prior to this game...

  • mmmm, pod chow

  • Methinks that this was where a few of the death pics for the VGA remake of Space Quest I came from. Either that, or vice versa.

  • Shredded like an Iran-Contra document. ha ha ha

  • Fortunately, it didn't hit anything importat! lol!

  • why is the sound set to beeper instead of AdLib or roland Mt32

  • Because I can't get eitehr Adlib or Roland Mt32 to record. I'll only get the picture, not audio.

  • Huh. what program are you using to record?

  • DOSBox, I think it may be a glitch in my computer though, the sound and video cards had been replaced shortly after I recieved it.

  • try recording with camstudio or something.

  • The last one was funny!

  • 1:33 BOOM HEADSHOT!

  • OOOOH thats gotta hurt @ :47

  • haha damn! I remember some of it but some more are quite harsh for it's time haha :P

  • Ironic that the window bars(You know, that gray thing) tend to be funnier than the actual message.

  • Hey MrWhitman

    Thanks for posting this,

it was a great experience for me because you showed me two very funny ways to die,I did not know before.

-The very first one, when you cut yourself with the metal and

-the rats killing you in their ambush

I was disapointed that their were no other deaths I did not know before...

Sometimes you killed yourself several times in the SAME way, only in different occasions, especially in the second part(I hoped there would be even MORE different ways...)

  • 5:05... was that a Barnacle from Half-Life?

  • half-life was made after this game...

  • Just seemed a lot like one

  • maybe they got the idea of barnicles for half-life

  • Was that artery-severing one at the very first opening area? lol quick, nasty death indeed!

  • Some death images are quite gory... O_o

  • ^ What he said.

  • I don't mind about not adding music. I prefer any music or sound from the game itself to be honest. Music tends to distract.
