  • hey - I would love to see the plans for your box. I like the perch on the front. I have barred owls frequenting my back yard and would like to make sure they take up residence. wonder how I can get you my email without posting it on youtube...

  • paulyorke, I would love the blueprints to that owl box!! A couple of questions too. How do you find these owls in the wild? Also, How long would you say on average, before an owl will actually discover the box?

    Joe

  • My dad said the owl visits often and actually hangs out with a cat?!!?! I tried not to move, but my husband snapped a few photos. The flash didn't seem to bother the owl at all. Too bad the fog was so thick; the photos are poor. Your videos are awesome. Did you build the box?

  • Yes the box is made from 1x8 cedar.

It is about 15x15 at the base, and about 2 1/2 feet tall. The opening is 8 inches. I can send you plans if you like. I need to update my site with the latest blueprints.

  • Had a barred owl land beside me in Hazard, Ky on Saturday night and stay for over 30 minutes. It wasn't bothered by my presence and I believe I feel in love!

  • I understand completely, we love our owls, but we must remember safety first. They will react if they feel threatened. They have the hardware to protect themselves and their young.

  • This is sweet!

  • yes, mama owl is a sweetheart. And a real good mom.
