WEST (Australian Film Review by THE MOVIE SHOW)

over the years, many times i've been annoyed by the constant interruptions by Margaret, and my sympathy has always been with David. quite often i agree with his opinion. but this time i'm annoyed cos he says "it's possibly .. probably ... a depiction of life in the western suburbs in our cities". Is he so out of touch? Is this movie so unrealistic??? I don't think so.

What is with all these grungy crime films set in surbuban australia. Australian cinema has to change. I am not impressed.

West was alright, but if you want to see the real western suburbs see the combination! I saw a preview screening it was so sweet..

I agree on David on this one, personally I found the story dull, and the dialogue boring, sluggish,unrealistic etc..

Requiem for a Dream is a much better film if your into darker stuff.

I have not seen this SBS review before today. I disagree with David in this case - it it far from completely bleak/depressing - I was surprised at the amount of humour in fact (albeit a bit black at times!). Yes, it is full-on in parts. Margaret P gets it. I get it. Good on you and your producer, cast, team etc. cheers, sparklesnbubbles
