You have a far greater change of being injured by a cow or hit by lightning than hurt by a coyote (check USDA Wildlife Services statistics). I'm for coyote control since there populations do explode to often. This is why I use a gun with a electronic game call. Effective, efficiant, and humane. We probably don't need to get rid of the extra coyotes this way but they will not go extinct. All states but California allow unlimited take on coyotes and there still millions of them. The most common predator in North america that has survived centuries of culling by Native peoples then Europeans will be her to stay for centuries more.

They regulate their own numbers by available prey and by defending territory against other coyotes. The killing of coyotes is not humane – or smart.

@smartguy104 All I know is ya shoot 10 or 15 of them and you don't see them again for a while. They always comeback and when they do you do it over again. When I don't shoot coyote's the number of huntable turkeys plumets but when I do I have more then I know what to do with. Its great. Even if I didn't hunt game I would still shoot the coyotes becuase when they get old tired and weak (and bound to die soon anyway) they turn to domestic livestock and the sheep on my neighbors property.

How sad....I saw two coyotes not too far from where I live that had been hit and killed by a vehicle. They were not right next to one another, but I do believe that they were a pair, and both were victims of the hwy. They couldn't escape and hide b/c everything is fenced, including the woods that they probably came out of. This is very sad, and every animal has a right to live. This is no different than people fighting pits. Its cruel and inhumane.
I live in South Carolina. Here in SC we have domestic pets like others all over the world, but we have a major problem in the overabundance of coyote and fox. They kill our cats, dog, and farm animals. Their are so many that there is not enough game to go around so they even end up eating from our trash. This may be an inhuman way to go about training the dogs to hunt these creatures but i do not condemn this because they are so numerous.
@tylerrichardprice I understand where you are comming from. I have seen them on youtube videos attacking household pets and farm animals in a very cunningly way. I am very compassionate when it comes to all animals wild or domestic. I just feel that some of the techiniques that are used to capture coyotes and train dogs are just as ruthless as the coyote attacks. My 3 year old son was playing in his sandbox. My wife was about 200ft away gardening and I was downstairs remodeling the basement. Cornfield buts to our property line. Had a dog (american foxhound "Honey") upstairs in the kitchen. Heard my wife screaming ran up the stairs saw Honey knocking the sliding screen door out and chased down the coyote that was dragging my son away the coyote dropped my son Honey bit the coyote in the neck 3 other coyotes ran out of the cornfield
and attacked Honey. My wife reached my son while I was running and yelling towards Honey and the 4 coyotes was about 3/4 of an acre away. My dog Honey never let go of the coyote that attacked my son she held on to that coyote's neck while the other three where bitting her she was being mauled by the other three I couldn't get to her fast enough by the time I did the coyotes ran the one that grabbed my son got away from Honey made it across two of my neighbors lots and dropped dead.
My little girl Honey was bit up really bad. I grabbed her and raced her to the local vet about 25min away. She inched her way towards me on the trucks bench seat and just layed her head on my lap the whole way there looking at me with an expression of relief knowing she saved my son she kept nudging my side with her nose for attention while she was bleeding to death. I got her to the vet and 10 min. later she passed away in my arms.
I love dogs and I would have to say Honey was the love of my life because she saved the best part of my life my son. Dogs are like children you raise them right and they will grow up right and act right and be part of your family and life and most will even die for you or a family member something most HUMANS wouldn't even do!!! @piercedtoy007 Actually most states put bounties on coyote because they over run suburban areas killing small dogs and cats, also they spread diseases like rabies, parvo virus, distemper,mange, and numerous more, they are becoming less fearfull of humans also meaning they are a threat to people like small kids and the elderly.

Coyotes are not associated with rabies and carry no more threat of disease than any other wildlife. Hope this information is helpful.

i live in central Florida, our property backs up to a national forest my 110lb American Bulldog has killed 3 coyotes and 2 foxes(he had help as my 68lb bull terrier catches them first and he catches up and just crushes their throats. they do a great job of keeping our property free of varmits,my grandkids are out playing supervised of coarse but they take out raccoons,possum,etc. oh and stray cats i stopped counting at 10(sorry but it's not my fault issisponsable cat owners let their cats roam

I am in Canada, and after seeing this video, I wanted to help these creatures. This is just wrong, these animals do not deserve this. It is not their fault they prey on livestock, they do it to survive, God put them on this earth for that reason. What is the problem was reversed? What if we, us humans, were put in a pen like that, and chased, until we were too tired to even stand. What if we were the ones getting torn apart by others? All I want to know is, what can I do to help?

It can be done and done well -- there are many model farms and ranches that use deterrents. No one guarantees you zero losses in your business, certainly I take my losses in mine, but I minimize it with best business practices. No sense in killing an animal endlessly when more will just fill the void.

You have a far greater change of being injured by a cow or hit by lightning than hurt by a coyote (check USDA Wildlife Services statistics). I'm for coyote control since there populations do explode to often. This is why I use a gun with a electronic game call. Effective, efficiant, and humane. We probably don't need to get rid of the extra coyotes this way but they will not go extinct. All states but California allow unlimited take on coyotes and there still millions of them. The most common predator in North america that has survived centuries of culling by Native peoples then Europeans will be her to stay for centuries more.

@smartguy104 You cannot "control" coyote populations by hunting. By killing them, you are creating more coyotes; they have what is referred to as "reporductive compensation". They regulate their own numbers by available prey and by defending territory against other coyotes. The killing of coyotes is not humane – or smart.

@smartguy104 All I know is ya shoot 10 or 15 of them and you don't see them again for a while. They always comeback and when they do you do it over again. When I don't shoot coyote's the number of huntable turkeys plumets but when I do I have more then I know what to do with. Its great. Even if I didn't hunt game I would still shoot the coyotes becuase when they get old tired and weak (and bound to die soon anyway) they turn to domestic livestock and the sheep on my neighbors property.

How sad....I saw two coyotes not too far from where I live that had been hit and killed by a vehicle. They were not right next to one another, but I do believe that they were a pair, and both were victims of the hwy. They couldn't escape and hide b/c everything is fenced, including the woods that they probably came out of. This is very sad, and every animal has a right to live. This is no different than people fighting pits. Its cruel and inhumane.

I live in South Carolina. Here in SC we have domestic pets like others all over the world, but we have a major problem in the overabundance of coyote and fox. They kill our cats, dog, and farm animals. Their are so many that there is not enough game to go around so they even end up eating from our trash. This may be an inhuman way to go about training the dogs to hunt these creatures but i do not condemn this because they are so numerous.

I am very compassionate when it comes to all animals wild or domestic. I just feel that some of the techiniques that are used to capture coyotes and train dogs are just as ruthless as the coyote attacks. But on the other hand they are a danger to domestic animals...So I understand why some people do choose to kill them.

My 3 year old son was playing in his sandbox. My wife was about 200ft away gardening and I was downstairs remodeling the basement. Cornfield buts to our property line. Had a dog (american foxhound "Honey") upstairs in the kitchen. My dog Honey never let go of the coyote that attacked my son she held on to that coyote's neck while the other three where bitting her she was being mauled by the other three I couldn't get to her fast enough by the time I did the coyotes ran the one that grabbed my son got away from Honey made it across two of my neighbors lots and dropped dead.

My little girl Honey was bit up really bad. I grabbed her and raced her to the local vet about 25min away. She inched her way towards me on the trucks bench seat and just layed her head on my lap the whole way there looking at me with an expression of relief knowing she saved my son she kept nudging my side with her nose for attention while she was bleeding to death. I got her to the vet and 10 min. later she passed away in my arms.

I am all for humanely trapping or hunting coyotes, but no animal or living thing should be treated and killed like this. i live in central Florida, our property backs up to a national forest my 110lb American Bulldog has killed 3 coyotes and 2 foxes(he had help as my 68lb bull terrier catches them first and he catches up and just crushes their throats. they do a great job of keeping our property free of varmits,my grandkids are out playing supervised of coarse but they take out raccoons,possum,etc. oh and stray cats i stopped counting at 10(sorry but it's not my fault issisponsable cat owners let their cats roam

It can be done and done well -- there are many model farms and ranches that use deterrents. No one guarantees you zero losses in your business, certainly I take my losses in mine, but I minimize it with best business practices. No sense in killing an animal endlessly when more will just fill the void.

My grandparents trapped wolves. Once trapped, the wolf was stomped or clubbed to death. The human did not hide behind a gun or a dog. This "penning" is the invention of the COWARDLY human male, afraid of a poor trapped coyote.
It's unsportsmanlike and detestable. I hope it is not legal in my province, I'll have to check on that now.

OMG I had no clue any of this happened. I live in Virginia this is really sad becausse I am nuts for foxes I can even stand seing them on the road dead but being tortured like this is unbarable. If I find anytrapped I will take them straight to the vetenary clinic since we have a wildlife rehab unit. I will get them to come out and help me with any I find.

I learnt a lot about cruelty to animals in the USA here on you tube. I saw videos about the cruelty of bow-hunting, videos about shooting on life pigeons, videos about rodeo shows or videos about the incredible mean treating of calves on dairy farms and so on.
