Just love this song!! I first heard TJW whilst sitting in a street cafe in Ibiza in 1981 and kept going back there to listen - then I met this guy who believe it or not, knew him, had just been to a live concert and had a LP in the boot of his car which he gave to me! such a good singer/songwriter :) thanks for posting
It's just an old funny saying "The song is gone but the memory lingers on" But in this case it's the vido that plays on w/out the music to the end of the song. Thankyou, it's a great fun summer time tune. Always loved it!
jimmy thanks for this. my old friend terry munci used to come over and play guitar at our house and just spend timre having fun jamming etc.. and this was one of his favs and it became one of mine. thanks for the memories
They spelled it like that on the record and the song but everyone knows it's really poke sallet, not Polk Salad. One of the greatest down south songs ever written, along with Amos Moses from Jerry Reed.
Tony Joe's sister and nephew manage the marina in Nashville where I keep my boat.....Tony is out here when he has the oppurtunity fishing ..... They are all great people ...... love his music ...... His nephew sounds a lot like him when singing ......
Yeah I knew Elvis had done it as well. I told someone that T.J. White did it first but they argued with me, so I let it go, but all the while I was searching for the info. Now I know I was right. Thank you for helping me set the record straight. I favored your video too by the way, and I am about to subscribe as well. I really like the old stuff. Brenda O. 41yrs old.
Oh, I do love this one Gerdenshed! Hey, wait a minute! Seeing that dedication...do I remind you of Polk Salad Annie? LOL.
Tony Joe White could have just as well have been a Georgia boy. His songs ring so true for my part of the South. I especially love Rainy Night in Georgia too. Thanks for the excellent song and very kind dedication my friend!
this is so sweet to dedicate this to Nancy as she is such a dedicated sweetheart!!! and love this song... this is really cool and loved the video too!
Hi gerdenshed. I love this song. I think it's a really cool tune and reminds me of cruising through New York City (even though I never have LOL) - this sure is the sound of the 70s.
Awesome!
