I first heard TJW whilst sitting in a street cafe in Ibiza in 1981 and kept going back there to listen - then I met this guy who believe it or not, knew him, had just been to a live concert and had a LP in the boot of his car which he gave to me! such a good singer/songwriter :) thanks for posting

    Mark...

  • It's just an old funny saying "The song is gone but the memory lingers on" But in this case it's the vido that plays on w/out the music to the end of the song. Thankyou, it's a great fun summer time tune. Always loved it!

  • That's very very strange my friend... The video and the sound used to end together! How strange!

  • Thanks for putting that on. Had another link, but that has been removed for what ever reason.

    Tony Joe at his best.

  • They spelled it like that on the record and the song but everyone knows it's really poke sallet, not Polk Salad. One of the greatest down south songs ever written, along with Amos Moses from Jerry Reed.

  • You're right Stu, I suppose they commercialised it for the masses. Glad you like it my friend ;-)

    Mark...

  • Tony Joe White wrote this song, Elvis did a cover of it :-)

    Mark...

  • Yeah I knew Elvis had done it as well. I told someone that T.J. White did it first but they argued with me, so I let it go, but all the while I was searching for the info. Now I know I was right. Thank you for helping me set the record straight. I favored your video too by the way, and I am about to subscribe as well. I really like the old stuff. Brenda O. 41yrs old.
