This song is the most awe inspiring thing I've heard in a very long time. It just makes you think about everything you love and have loved, and is bittersweet in the best possible way.
Greetings to you beautiful people!!! This song inspired me so much that I had to write and record some lyrics to it. I made it into a video, posted on my channel, for any who are interested. Blessings and namaste!!! Have a wonderful...!!!
For what its worth, I have to say, I really really dig this....I mean REALLY dig this. the quick drum beat over a nice melodic line creates such a state of ease and tention at the same time, its absolutely amazing.
Whenever I hear this song, I just never want it to end. Perfect for those days of endless mind activity, it reminds me to slow down and appreciate that what's around us.
any one of you knows how to get some notes for this masterpiece? :-? im interested to learn to play, at least just the beginning of the tune, but i cant find any tutorial or guide :-??
The birth and death of a day, first breath after coma, your hand in mine, day 5, yasmin the light, moon is down, remember me as a time of day... since you like your hand in mine, type "GIHM" in the search of youtube, and click on his cover for it.
Every time i listen to this song, memories flood my brain in that old style home movies kind of fashion. Not all of them are great, but this song doesn't seem to let me discriminate between good and bad memories while listening to it.
Not necessarily a bad thing, but always interesting.
honestly that would be the best way to completely wreck this song. this isnt pussy drums, it is all composed by their real drummer and I play the drums so i would know. sure there are times for big fills and mean snares but with this relaxing music it would overpower the little things that make this song so good.
I love the Album Leaf.. all their instrumentals are phenominal. It's good cause they dont overdo by forcing lyrics in, or doing your typical guitar-drum-bass, they just compose. And it's great.
I wouldn't know what bands would be defined as post rock? give me an example. i like bands like ratatat, some great stuff but its more fast paced and a little more forced than this. also if you know of any other stuff that sounds like this let me know i absolutely lovveee it
Explosions in the sky, Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Mono, Mogwai, A silver mount zion, octopus project, 65daysofstatic, god is an astronaut, rachel, laura, etc... If you wanna find out about good bands like that, type in "GIHM" in the youtube search, and watch all his covers
@miquel64 Even though it is referred to as 3rd person plural on the wikipedia article as well, TAL is still a solo project by a single person, Jimmy La Valle. I thought I'd say that if you didn't know. :)
I also learned of the album leaf through the oc and they're really good. The music is so good on that show. I love the walkmen and the subways and the album leaf now.
I find this songs from the O.C like many other people did.Honestly,I do very love many song in the series. All of them take me back to my high school time,it's really good old days for me.The Killers,Death Cab,they accompany me to walk through my high school years. Now i've grown up just like the guys in the O.C did,but still I like to listen'World At The Large'by Modest Mouse
que grupo mas bueno!!!por dios!sino es sigur ros, mogwai,Explosions in the sky o estos nose esta musica a mi me encanta..es muy linda...para relajarse pensar..mas bien para relajare..me encanta..!!!
the album leaf is amazing along with the band Annasay. I just discovered Annasay on itunes recently though, but they have quickly become a favorite too
i love this piece of music! i used it in an improvised performance in college and it was about two peoples love and how outside forces affect it and can cause their emotions to change and inner forces to take over and push them apart. I got a great mark for it and I found it on here because i too heard it on the O.C. I didnt know what it was untill i saw this so thankyou so much!!
Like some other people here, i also heard this in the OC. At first i didn't know that the show was so much about promoting music, but i really like the fact that it is. Some bands i knew already, but finding stuff like this was really worth watching the show for.
And stop hating on the OC.. at least Seth is funny!
Ive seen the band live twice, and i gotta tell ya they are awesome when you seem them live! With their music and sweet tunes they create a unique atmosphere
not gunna lie, I love the show, but I hate how people learn all there music from that show. and please, if you do, don't tell anyone, it's embarrassing.
whats embarassing about it? there are many different ways people find out about music, and TV is one of them. thats kind of what the music director wanted, to expose ppl to new music.
The boards of canada are now my favorite band, and i found out about them by watching salad fingers. Theres nothing wrong with finding a band from a tv show.
Some little girls Learned about Frida Kahlo because Madonna was talking about her. Some kids discovered Sonic Youth and Daniel Johnston because of Kurt Cobain. I personally learned about classical music as a kid from Bugs Bunny, and discovered situationist theory because of a teenage obsession with the Sex Pistols... People who discover new bands on the O.C. may well have their horizons broadened too. The exposure itself can lead to something more. Does it matter where it comes from?

The Album Leaf was originated by the guitarist from Tristeza, another great post-rock band. Look for the song "City of the Future"
Also, Boards Of Canada; the song Chromakey Dreamcoat"

That's very true. EITS is more of the Post-Rock variety. The Album Leaf seems more electronic. More ambient, I believe.
