  • AAAAHHH I WANT ONE SOOOOOOOO BAAAAAAD! Wanna keep my DSM but gotta have a Cummins and my dream is complete lol

  • @jahmerikan6 dsm as in dodge small block?

  • @TheJoecool1972 DSM as in Diamond Star Motors Mitsubishi Eclipse/Eagle Talon/Plymouth Laser it was a joint venture between Chrysler/Dodge and Mitsubishi

  • dude your truck sounds niceee

  • Nice truck, those autos can't hold up to the Cummins. Thats a 12V ain't it? That is pretty much my dream truck. Cummins 12v, only with a 6spd, or I have seen a couple Super 10 swaps.

  • im in the middle of swapping tranny's with a boy out of idaho but all the shippin companies arent shipping cuz of snow up there. thinkin bout sneakin on dads boat trailer behind the freightliner lol

  • hey man i got a 99 and ive been wantin to do this for along time. but i was told about 6 grand. is there anyway u can call me or text me im tryin to figure out how to do this the cheap way?? ill put my number out there i dont mind, its 561 902 7709 names nick im a marine so im workin alot u can call whenever anything to get me outa work hahaha,,, i appreciate it man

  • i would like to do this to my 99 24v. how much would it be?

  • hows the wastegate that loud? is it stock?

  • how much did it cost to do the swap?

  • Never gets old. awesome!!!!!!!!

  • thats a clean lookin truck!

  • @pepsi71ocean, I might look into that for my friend, thanks for the advice, like I said that's just my opinion cuz I didn't want to offend anyone

  • my grandma can shift faster than that

  • @86godsmack have you ever drove a 5spd dodge? then dont shift real fast

  • sounds nice

  • Nice move, I think dodge automatic tranny's are shit, just my opinion tho, they go out way too fast, a friend of mine has a truck just like yours and he went through 2 clutches before the transmission went so you should be happy with your choice

  • @MR22MAG i have an automatic its well built up and haven't had an issue, stock trannys suck, talk to Goerend Brothers they build real auto's for our dodges.

  • @MR22MAG Yeah, Dodge auto trans are shit...mine went out after 160k of babying it, got a new one that only had 80 on it, put it in, went out within 3 weeks

  • sounds the best when it hits 3rd and 4th gear

  • cant beat the sound of a cummins.......clean truck as well!!!

  • sounds good keep it up

  • I love that cycle whore is sayin that the torqshift trans is so great and the allison and 48re arent as good. Sorry buddy, im affiliated Industrial Injection and i guarantee you my 48re built here in central illinois will take just as much a beating as any of the torqshifts, my best friend has one build by River City Diesel, who might i add, is now more popular than Spartan :]

    Just food for thought

  • @AMSSrt409 hmmm ive just heard bad things about some of the RCD tunes concerning injectors. also, i dont think the RCD has a tune as high as the Spartan 310? Is the 585 the most agressive tune from them?

there a couple of videos here on Youtube of two 6.4's, identical except that one is running the Spartan 310 and the other is running the RCD race tune. and the Spartan leaves it in the dust.

  • allison transmissions are amazing

  • Awesome vid!! Theres nothing better than the sound of a diesel grabbing gears!! I would only ever have a manual transmission behind a Cummins (not that the auto.'s are bad neccesarily).

How hard or easy was the swap?? I would do a swap like this if I found a prestine auto. trans. Ram Cummins (clean well maintain truck are hard to find).

    Beautiful truck! I favorited it.

  • Pretty good for a fixed camera position. BTW, which gearbox is in this particular truck? Chrysler used the NP4500, NP5600 and M-B G56 (what, no Spicer ESO66-7B?) in regular production.

  • You mean NV4500 and NV5600? or are you refering to New Venture Gear by there other name New Proccesor gear? Just wondering, because I almost never hear NP.

  • New Venture reverted to New Process around 2005; the company still manufactures transfer cases for GM and Chrysler.

  • Ya I look it up. I learned something, thanks for brining it up!!

  • NV4500 heavy duty. They have another NV4500 but its weaker for gassers.

  • @bcschmerker nv4500 nv5600

  • sorry i just couldnt keep a straight face about 1500 ft lbs maybe 800? Most of these trannys will fail around 200 + ft lbs of torque. the torque shift is cool because the spartan guys have it electronically tuned so they can control shift points, clutch pressure etc. 48re is good STOCK 68rfe is good with some power but the tuning isnt as good on it as the torque shift. allison is smooth but will fail just like a 48re after 200 ft lbs.

  • That guy thinks an Allison 1000 can handle 1500 lb-ft stock??!!? Maybe for ONE burnout or dragstrip pass!

That trans. would be fried so fast!! An Allison 1000 can handle around 100hp/200lb-ft over stock if your easy on it. Any more than that and your asking for trouble. Fried TC, clutch packs, steels, etc.

The 5R110 is probably the best auto. trans. yet. Dodge has some good one too.

I prefer a manual for big power holding capibility. An aftermarket clutch and shafts is the most you need.

  • sounds awesome! great video. i love the sound of cummins shifting. btw i like the opening lol

  • Sounds Awesome

  • nah man,, that wasnt lame,, you got a new toy and wanted to show it off.. wasnt by any means an Exciting video, but i have seen way worse.. Nice truck man,, how you like the truck after the conversion?

  • dude someone point in the right direction i have a 95 cummins 3500 and i cant stand this lame automatic i get smoked everytime i race someone because it shifts like shit it my 2nd auto tranny i want to convert it to a 5 standard but i need someone to tell me how to do it step by step someone who has done it before

  • I have done it before and can tell you that there is a good writeup on cumminsforum

  • hey if you found anything about the swap let me know i want to do the same to my 07 cummins

  • hollar at Faster Than Light Diesel performance in midland w do 2 or three every week 432 934 9756 ask for micah mays

  • sweet truck, nothin rolls coal or sounds as good as a cummins 12v

  • Good choice of transmission my friend. Those dodge automatics were weak. The only good ones i liked were the 727 torqueflite 3 speed direct.

  • whats wrong with the 47re? they can handle a power increase better than even an allison in the chevs, ask most duramax guys, they'll say that the allison falls to hell when they started modding the motor, dodge is the truck for me, but id say ford has the best trans for the heavy dutys.

  • I know someone that's about to replace there 3rd, and it's bone stock. All she does is tow a trailer with horses in it. The fords trannys are weak too, but not as bad. The allisons are really built to be tough. They're the strongest out of all i think.

  • well, that may be but im only going by what ive read in diesel power magazine,i read an article comparing the 47re to the allison and the chevy got injectors, along with a programmer i believe it was an edge and it said the allison was slipping, while the dodge got the same mods and the trans worked fine, and the 48re is said to be even stronger.

  • the 47REs were rated the worst of all transmissions in super duties you have to start moding them after just 60 hp. the best autos are the Allison 1000s and 1000Es the reason even those fall short is because the have GM parts in them in the 07 Dmax have straigh pure blood Allison 1000 and can handle 1500ft lbs easy

  • 1500ft lbs....lol i bet i can break it in a month

  • you gotta do it right man! hahaha! but they are stout no doubt! i am really impressed with the torque shifts behind the 6.4s they are really stout!

  • @Hotrodx199 Even the 727 was weak. The A518 was basically a 727 with an overdrive gear added, and they still suck. Hated the 518 in my 93 ram cummins, so I swapped it for a getrag.

  • @85rotarypower They seemed to hold up pretty good in the old chargers and challengers.

  • Dude its not a lame video that is the most awesome looking dodge dually i think i ever saw

  • really can`t beat a straight drive

  • sweet dually! I LOVE my '96 12 V!

  • Sounds great man, i love the sound of the Turbo at 0:32

  • my friend has the 6cylinder inline cummins turbo diesel 5 speed twin staks damn that thing is lice but h beats the hell out of that truck

  • all cummins are inline 6 cylinders. you didnt have to add that in. and its a good thing a cummins is bout bulletproof. it can handle hard drivin.

  • Thats the smarttest thing ive seen all day, the swap that is

  • how hard was the swap i thought of doin it to my powerstroke

  • check out dieselfuelonly he has good vids of his recent swap

  • Yea, Dieselfuelonly did a vid that should help alittle bit. The swap was really straight forward. Took me a single weeked alone to do it. Just do alittle research so you have every part on hand before you start.

  • atta boy i wish there were alot more manual tranny diesels on here

  • truck sounds good man, everything stock? or do you have some mods done to it?

  • I just ground a 100 plate, and 3gsk... So its close to stock, I'm really eying some injectors though. If my clutch will feel like holding it ;)

  • well just let me know if and when your interested in looking for injectors i know some people an places...

  • this truck sounds soo damn good! great job

  • damn i like the sound

  • did u do anything to the motor... crank up th pump?

  • Liquid smoke....

  • How do you get it to smoke?

    Just pedal to the metal?

    or is there a trick?

  • love the sound love it. but not liking the duals

  • Nice truck, how's the 5-speed treating you?

  • nice truck

  • Hey how much did it cost because my bother has a 98 Club-cab with the 12V and wants to convert it?

  • total was about $1200, after I sold my auto for $700. I got a complete parts package from the local junkyard.

  • @Box5diesel dam that was cheap. Mine is going to cost around 3800 but mine is a lot newer. and i am upgrading the it alot at the same time.

  • how hard was the swap and what was the hardest part?

  • the swap was fairly easy. I hadn't tackled anything like that on a vehicle before and I did it all alone over a weekend. Just make sure you have a parts checklist and you have every part on hand, so you dont get held up waiting on a part to arrive. The hardest part was probably re-installing the input shaft into the clutch disk when u install the 5spd. Took me forever to get it aligned just right to slide in.

  • Love the smoke

  • that thing sounds beast.

    nice truck.

  • that truck sounds so good. almost like a semi good job

  • thats sick and im 16 so if u consider me a kid ha ...

  • that intro was meant for the kids on here who make dumbass comments like, "shoulda dropped the clutch in 3rd gear WOT, pussy." lol, my clutch had like 10 miles on it when I did this vid. Glad the people who replied are level headed, lol.

  • well just about every kid is dumb they think nos is the answer to there slow grand-am lol

  • im not complaining. you have a bad ass truck wich id love to have...but it still woulda been awesome to drop the clutch in 3rd :D

  • sounds like a semi awesome!!!

  • are you serious?

do you not have a life.

  • in 17 my dad as a 04 quadcab and 08 megacab.dodge and cummins the best.

  • lol Halo song =x

  • This orginally had an automatic? and now its a 5 speed? Thats cool! Nice!

  • oh and what kind of hardware did you have to buy or find?

  • i want to this to my 91 dodge diesel 4 wheeldrive, its an auto and i want a manual,is it a big deal with the clutch pedel or bolting the tranny up or is it pretty easy?

  • hardest part is to find the pedals. i have a 91 that i converted to a stick. you have to buy a donor with all the clutch stuff, bellhousing, and pedals or youll never find all of it.

nobody makes aftermarket clutch pedals for the first gen trucks.

  • ya 5 speed is definatly the way to go.nice truck

  • what year of truck is that?

    how hard was the swap?

i am thinking of putting a nv5600 in my 01 any things to look out for?

how much did it set you back?

  • its a 94, got the nv4500 from a 95 from a junkyard. The swap put me back about 1800 i think, I sold my auto for 700. The swap was pretty straight forward, i haven't done much work like that and I did all the work myself over a weekend.

  • i guess with the 12 valves it is a little easier because most stuff is mechanical. well i better start looking for a wrecked second gen 24 valve.

  • Looks and Sounds Good

  • thats another good vid and i realy like the smoke comming out of it im gonna give it 5stars and a fav

  • nice you should hear our suzuki swift sport with aftermarket pipes. it sounds like a rally car and we can get flames from it if we try :)
