  • You've been to Germany? Very good, and welcome to my home country. Do you have German ancestry? Did you visit some of your relatives?

    About the windmills: we've got a tradition of many centuries. In ancient times, we used windmills as power generators for mills (therefore the name "windmills") because a millstone is heavy and not easy to turn. Also they they were used in mining, for pumping the water out of the tunnels and driving the elevators -in the Middle Ages! Today electricity.

  • Hello.

    To answer all your questions;

    Yes I have been to Germany- Berlin and the area south and east of there near Poland.

    I do have German ancestry as well. My great-grandparents (on my mothers side) were from the French region of Alsace, near Germany (and was part of Germany for a time.)

    Windmills are in uncommon sight here in New England. Only within the last 6 months has New Hampshire had it's first wind farm installed.

    Hopefully there will be more to come.

  • Hi fczwartek

    I haven't been online for a while. Now I've read your answer. Thanks for giving so much information. My own grand-uncle comes from the Alsace as well!

    Best wishes!
