iCan u shoot professional quality video with the zi8 and DOF adaptor. Could you possibly shoot video good enough to be seen on bog screen? or should you invest in DSLR camera, etc? Tahnks!

@meinc3 This attachment lens is very tricky to work with. and since it's a 10x zoom, it works best outdoors where you can move further away from your shot.

@Knoptop I made a follow up of sorts - havent directly filmed anythign with it yet but an update on how to put it on at least. I mentioned your name in the video and will put a link to your Channel as well. One thing I noticed after the video, it actually WILL WORK with the Flip Mino. You said it doesnt work with the Flip so I'm figuring Ultra. But it does work with a Mino. It doesnt fit all that great but it definately does work. I'll do a F/U where I actually use it. Like I said $4.99 on eBay.

as i looked at the other video closely, it appears that there is another piece that the telephoto lens is housed to. and that piece flushes to the bracket. if so, that didnt come with my packaging..

i purchased the telephoto lens for my zi8. question? how do you mount it to the zi8 lens. it seems like its something missing. i thought from the video that the telephoto lens would screw into my zi8. need help on this asap....

@taijaful hmm, if it's the same model, the lens is supported with a squeeze clamp that clamps on to the camera, and you adjust the lens to line up with the camera.

@thoughtgrenades I haven't noticed a 'hissing' sound. It could be your connection or microphone cord. Try a different external mic, and see if it's still getting the hiss.

@MattaFlix - Glad I could help. U should've commented on my vid haha. Any tripod will do, you can easily get one for under AU$30. Personally I like the tripods with a hook at the bottom so I can attach weights to it in case there's a strong breeze. A built in spirit level is great to have. Mine looks like this except mines more solid, ebay item # 270642627161

@MynameisBillyJ The lens is set back further in a Flip camera and (as you see in the video) you can see the edges of the adaptor lens. Somewhere I saw that someone used a binocular lens on a flip and got it to work. Maybe give that a shot!

Did you have any problems mounting the lens onto the camera? I got a lens very similar to yours for my Playsport. It's a little bit of a task getting on. The clip sometimes turns the camera off and I guess because the Playsport has a little bit of a curve to the back, the mounting clip sometimes pops off or moves.

What you were demonstration was a teleconverter (sometimes called tele extender) lens.

Depth of field is the amount of distance between the nearest and farthest objects that appear in acceptably sharp focus in an image ( still or video ).

DoF is often misunderstood. The telephoto adapter does give an impression of shallow depth of field.

personaly, im thinking of the Kodak Playsport..cause its compact, and you can abuse it\drop it-and itll survive...just not sure about the quality and the bad image-stabilization. Shaycarl from the Shaytards [in youtube] =i wonder what hes using as a Pocket HD camcorder? it looks Really sharp!

@eladbari This video was shot on a Canon T2i DSLR. We cut to some shots of the zi8 with the adapter tho. I don't know much about the Playsport, but the zi8 won over just about every 'pocket' camera I've tried. (with macro setting, multiple record modes and mic line input)

The Playsport's newer,so theyve fixed some issues in it..Yet, i admit it lacks some features.The new Kodak Playtouch should replace the Zi8..check it out!

STILL,i just dont know what to go with. An HD Pocket camcorder?Or a Plain old Digital camera [like the Canon SX210?[=it has HD also].

Stills & Video are both important to me,and im trying to find a camera with a good balance.Still it feels to me like the Zi8 camera has a more Webcam quality :\

I have one of these. Wish I could anchor it more firmly on the camera. Also, it is a little difficult to turn the camera on and off once the holder is in place. It is fun, though! Haven't used it much yet but you've inspired me.
