I never have agreed with the decision to go for two points here. Kick the extra point and win the national championship in the polls. I have always felt that a tie is a perfectly good outcome in a game, unless it is a championship game in a tournament.

@LibraryUser61 Osborne and the players didn't want to back in to a title. They wanted to win it on the field by winning the game with no questions. None of them could have lived with themselves if they didn't try to win. In that situation I would consider all the blood sweat and tears the coaches and players poured out in the season. coming back from 17 and 14 point deficits, having a chance to win the game I would say my players earned that last chance. I couldn't deny them at that point.
