  • great jesse jackson cameo (check out the 'fro!) at 2:11

  • he allowed free agency thus my reference to the miami three

  • thanks to oscar, the miami big three exists

  • Grew up watching O, read his book, and met him once. It's sad that he's held all those terrible things done and said to him over the years inside. His book is a sad read; I hate to see the ignorance of those times still hurting him today. The greatest all-around player I ever saw, but I feel so bad that all that ignorance is still hurting him today.

  • And very few know he missed averaging a triple double AGAIN by missing 0.1 in his rebounds per game average during the 1963-64 season. Not only that but 12.5rpg during 1961-62 season... by a point guard? Really? What do you about this Dwight Howard?

  • @futureicon23 Don't forget there was no 3 point line before. Imagine how many points he'd put up with it

  • My starting 5 ; Oscar Robertson , Michael Jordan , Magic(he played all 5 positions at 6-9) , Wilt Chamberlain , Bill Russell (would be a power forward today ) To me Oscar , Wilt and Russell are the only players in the greatest player conversation with Jordan . Honorable mention Tim Duncan as the the best power forward all time .

  • @parkerxjr i agree but i put the list magic and bird...maybe kareem to

  • @AdreasTheGreat listen to "Barkley On Jordan ' . Bird is on my 2nd team and Kareem would be 3rd or 4th . Shaq or Olaijuwan could argue with Kareem for 2nd place.

  • Thanks for this upload. Oscar Robertson was the player i have always strived to be. He was the perfect player.

    The G.O.A.T......truly

  • @SOCRATES012 WRONG JORDAN WAS

  • @ryanr20091 its a tough call but you may be right.

  • @ryanr20091 get a life

  • @dantheman9758 just stating facts. how can you make an argument for a guy with only one ring vs micheal 6. also jordan had wayyyyyyyyy more mvps . you cant possibly make a case for oscar being goat. maybe kareem , but not oscar

  • @ryanr20091 I don't care about GOAT nonsense. I said get a life because your having a Kanye West moment. This is an Oscar Robertson video and in came a fan of the Big-O who payed him some respect and admiration and you ruin it with your poorly timed Jordan comment. I just thought you sounded like a moron for rudely barging in on someone else's moment of respect. Ergo I barged in on yours.

  • @ryanr20091 well you have to be accurate . you just cant make a statement, without it being factual . jordan is the best deal with the reality . stop being a fan and be realistic. Dont disrespect jordan bt putting oscar above, when you never even seen oscar play a game

  • @ryanr20091 Lol, what are you the Jordan police? Don't get bent out of shape if someone thinks a player of Oscars caliber is the greatest. Your a victim of the times and you don't even realize it. Just wait til kids 20 years from now start attacking your praise for Jordan by telling you you've just "disrespected" a newer NBA superstar of that time by putting primitive old Jordan above them. It will happen. Maybe then you'll realize, even having one GOAT is childish, when many have deserved it.

  • Oscar was great but nobody will be better than jordan

  • i miss ralph wiley

  • "he could make you look silly " longtime rival Jerry Sloan said "but he never showed you up,never got in your face. Oscar just scored on you, then ran to the other end to defend"

  • this guy was the greatest and best basketball player that has and will every play the game.

  • this is why i respect the basketball athletes in the 60s and 70s so much. like JW2K3 said, they paved the way for a dr. j., magic, jordan and kobe bryant's of today. the trials they had to endure in amerikkka were just unbearable.

  • @vwnclubb dr j played in the 70s

  • @montezdariel yeah but dr. j came into the league in 72. oscar had already played for a full 12 years by that time, and did all the heavy lifting during the 60s, so by the time dr. j came into the league, the burden was not as/so heavy for him to bear.

  • G.O.A.T

  • @Cheema0113

    naaa mj is the goat...

  • @thegoldenhero yeah thats what espn tell you but they have amnesia

  • if he had lost about 30 pounds he could have played longer ....sorry

  • Thanks for paving a way...

so much respect for this man

  • @JW2K3 hell yeah !

  • @sar8303 lmao, yeah he was losing to Russell's celtics and Wilt's 76ers....he avg'd a triple double his first 5 seasons? Damn right I'm impressed, no one else put up the numbers he put up during his era, nor since, so please be quiet with the nonsense

  • @calabis Not only did he average a triple double in his first 5 years, but he was averaging around 30 points a game in the process.

  • @norsemustang and on top of that he did the majority of it with no institiution of the 3 point shot yet. impressive.

  • The greatness of sport achievements can sometimes be understood with facts. The Big O entered the league when the league was only 17% while; 2 years after he retired the league was 77% black. So Robertson was dominant in a league mainly filled by less athletic while players. Not impressed? Consider that Walt Bellamy AVERAGED 30 points and 20 rebounds during this period. Not impressed? Consider that Robertson won only 2 playoff series in his entire time in Cincinnati Royals.

  • @sar8303 ... Wilt chamberlain dominated in an nba of the same fashion. So did jerry west (whom is white) and bill russell. yet all 3 of those are considered top 10 all time and jerry in that matter is the LOGO. go to the cincinnati royals team with the big o on it and if you can tell me with a str8 face that they were as talented as the celtics or sixers then i will back down on my statement... since i KNOW they weren't you fail. oscar is a top 10 player ALL TIME a trip double is dominant period

  • Kept Kareem in his place? Kareem's place is at the head of that table.

  • Well... it's arguable that Oscar's the one of the greatest to ever play the game, and specially the best PG. However many say Shaq is arguably more dominate than Kareem.

  • @Ammaculate44 How is it "arguable" that The Big O is 1 of the best ever? He put up numbers that no 1 will ever duplicate, won an MVP award in the 1963-64 season, was the 2nd best player on a championship team and is currently ranked 5th on the NBA's all-time assist list.

  • Can you rephrase your words without contradicting yourself please? I'm not sure what you are trying to say.

  • @Ammaculate44 How did I contradict myself? I just explained why he's 1 of the best ever.

  • That's a better rephrase. However, the rules changed, if you didn't realize that.

  • @Ammaculate44 You're right the rules have changed. Now it's almost impossible to defend an offensive player because you're not able to touch them without a foul being called. I think you're referring to the pace of the game though, not the rule changes.

  • Check what rules of the game have changed.

  • @Ammaculate44 I heard about Oscar when I was a kid, my uncle told me he was the best ever...better than Jordan and Magic. When my uncle said Pippen was probably the closest he's seen to Oscar, especially during 94-96 seasons...I thought he was smoking crack. Then some fools invented Google and Youtube...and lo and behold, my uncle was not smoking crack at all. This guy averaged a triple double his first 5 years for Pete's sake. He was the man.

  • @Ammaculate44 "more dominant" doesn't necessarily make you the better player though. for all shaq's "dominance", he still pales in comparison to the great centers mainly Wilt, Russell, Kareem & Dream

  • @Ammaculate44 I never saw Oscar play since I was born in 77 so if I had to chose the best pg I've ever seen that would be Magic...I also loved Isiah and Stock was great too...

  • @Sierra688 I think he just meant Oscar was showing Kareem the ropes. He was obviously the better player but he was still young.
