best baseball player in the last sixty years. you have to go back to williams & dimaggio to find anyone who COMPARES with him. millions of players all over the country took steroids, including hundreds of MLB players. why weren't any of them close to the caliber of bonds? it's cause bonds worked harder than all of them. bonds' greatness can't be attributed to steroids.

Yes, Bonds can be booed everywhere. It's natural. I'm just saying it appears, in my view, that a lot of fans, who are booing the steroids thing right now, turned a blind eye in '98 and don't want to admit that their lack of backlash helped encourage the players and MLB to do nothing that led to this whole mess. Let's all admit it. We knew it was happening. We didn't care. We wanted to see 30-90 year old records fall. And we did. Now the majority, it appears, don't want to admit to this.

I look at Bonds as no different than Eminem, Snoop, Robin Williams, Steven Tyler or any other big entertainer. If he's doing some illegal drug, let him hurt himself. I'll give the Montreal fans credit. When the strike happened they never came back. Period. They sent a message loud and clear that very few can stand by because of the irresistable entertainment the game can present. Especially big records being broken. I'll admit, my supporting McGwire in spite of andro, along with most other fans, only encouraged MLB and the players to keep what they are doing. However, I didn't flip-flop because steroids suddenly became so big and evil. I wanted entertainment

It never ceases to amaze me how stupid the average American sports fan is in that they look at this man as a disgrace and a cheater and his salary is too high, YET these same pouters about-face, and somehow don't find it too phony to buy a ticket to this game knowing that their ticket purchase DIRECTLY supports the salaries of these athletes. Bonds is a cheater, just like OJ was guilty. It was just never made "official". He admitted that he took steroids, and that AT THE TIME he thought it was something else, which is crap. There is no proof that steroids is really considered cheating because there is no proof that it is responsible for large home run totals. Hundreds of players allegedly took steroids, about of handful of them are good home run hitters, and only one of them is breaking records.

The greatest thing about Barry is that he is going to break this records without ever having used a performance enhancing drug. The other cool thing is that he is such a great person and a nice guy. His teammates all love him, and he is super friendly to the media and the fans. Yay for Barry, a super-cool guy indeed!
