  • I thank TVtropes for helping me remember this short. I remember seeing this short once or twice back when I was 8, so my memory was very hazy and I remembered it completely different (I remembered the cat actually dying, when really, the mice made the cat think he was dead). But still, this is the short I was looking for! Thank you, TVtropes!

  • No, no... sure, sure

  • This cartoon is the reason why we have a cat named Claude

  • @poohebar83 Awesome!

  • orrible little mice.

  • this one was very dark.

  • This is great! Warners Brothers made the best cartoons!

  • Yeah yeah sure sure.

  • The ending of this short was re-done to what we see here. The original ending showed the mice shooting a rock at the cat using a slingshot, popping the balloon, and forcing Claude to plummet toward earth. Hubie & Bertie turned the "cat heaven" sign around which now read "cat hell" and pointed it downward. Claude crashed through the earth and landed in a brewing pot where Satan stabbed him repeatedly with a pitchford and tortured him for enternity. That ending was axed by the censors.

  • so it was up to the censors that made it sadder. damn..

  • YOU MORONIC MICE!! THE CAT IS ALIVE!!!!!!!

  • QUIT SLAPPING BERTIE!!!!!!!!!!

  • HAHAAA THE DRAFT CAUSE ATHLETES FOOT LOL YEAH YEAH SURE SURE

  • This one is just too sad

  • Is the voice of Hubie the same person that does Bugs Bunny?

  • @REJUNGLE

    Yeah, that's Mel Blanc.

  • wow that cat is a paranoid health freak

  • @TheAzzkicker3000 I think the term you're looking for is "hypochondriac". ;P

  • Doesn't this strike anyone as a thinly-veiled commentary on how the Christian church has been conning its followers with promises of Heaven over the past 2000 years?

  • I found it unsettling that the balloon didn't burst at the end!

  • Unforgettable - i have been wantig to see this again for years.. cheers subbed u for this

  • Looney Tunes cartoons were brutal.

  • @8x13Wolf

they were meant for kids and adults. Entertaining for all.

There are many wity jokes kids would never get.

    Genius show.

  • @EdTheBadass They could also get incredibly sadistic. Like this one, and it's sticking to the psychological torture. That's pretty tame for Loony Tunes.

Not that I'm judging, mind. A cartoon can't be great unless it makes you go "JESUS!!" every once in a while; that's why kids are missing out today.

  • @8x13Wolf There will never be this type of clever and comedy in a cartoon again.

  • @uckethea yeah yeah, sure sure

  • @uckethea yeah yeah, sure sure

  • Claude the cat is so cute!

  • Not that the cat wasn't mean, but that was pretty crul making him think he was dead

  • Don't we all know someone like this?

If you don't, than YOU are this kinda person

  • 0:48 Bert's scream of "Cheese!" would make Wallace proud.

  • @spiritgirl41192 Nah, Wallace would probably wave his arms. Bert doesn't do that.

  • this one reminds me of my dad

  • awsome i wish they sowed looney tunes on boomerang or this atleast.

  • that cat is a pill popper

  • he must have used Ludicrous Speed!!! Sorry, Spaceballs reference.

  • he is turning plad

  • Originally released in March 1950 [this is a 1958 reissue], and probably the "apex" of the Hubie/Bertie/Claude Cat series. Who else but Chuck Jones (and Mike Maltese) could have created a cartoon with slapstick, surrealism, and such an hilarious- and touching- ending?
