  • seth rogen? or the pixar guy?

  • okay now a maye digusting thought I ALWAYS get when you soak up the excess oil on anything. I always imagine it to be a piece of bread that I would actually enyoj more then the meal :S because obviously I am disgusting

  • Dear chef John,I used 4 of your recipes for my New Year's family dinner tonight, and they're loving it!Keep up the great work :)

  • Made this last night..IT WAS GOOD!!!

  • can i also use this and shape into a meatloaf? :)

  • @flippensweet24

You could but might not be as tasty as a meatloaf with an egg, chopped onion and ketchup added along with salt and pepper. If you like green bell peppers add a small handful as well chopped small of course.

  • flat leaf parsley or can i use the curly one?

  • @flippensweet2

You want to use Italian flat leaf parsley the curly stuff is basically for dressing up a plate.

  • Made these last night, amazing!

  • @LordZacknafien

Not sure, I guess American, like pasta with meatballs.

  • Will you be my boyfriend?

  • Great recipe. I love the simplicity in some of your recipes. I think that the ability to "go simple" is a measure of confidence in one's ability to make people very happy with food! It's a measure of confidence in your technique and culinary knowledge. Cheers to Chef John! I'm going to try this as soon as possible.

  • And we love your recipes thanks

  • My husband can't eat tomatoes can you make the meatballs without sauce

  • I had this before...FUCKING AWESOME!!!!,THESE goes real nice with a bit of Red Wine and for also good with the meatballs is Italian Garlic seed bread.

  • @LordZacknafien

    Garlic bread is NOT italian

  • @vinzbrain really?? what is it then? let me guess, french?

  • "Brown 'em on all sides-" -BEEEEEEWRONGEEEEEEEP- "Oops, brown 'em on all surfaces"

  • Could you do this wish mozza cheese? or parmesan?

  • I'm soooo hungry now. lol thanks!

  • I had so much fun watching your video. I know what's for dinner tonight. Thanks and congratulations on your success with the food network!

  • i must say that this recipe is exquisite and to support that i gave it a try and I enjoyed it very much and also compared to other recipes . Thank you Food Wishes .

  • The buzzer sound was EPIC :D

  • jst subscribed.. yumm

  • I just discovered your videos this morning, and I cannot stop watching them! They are so great!

  • @TabzeeKat it happened to me 2 years ago :-)

  • has anyone tried making this with ground turkey instead? would it screw up the texture? or be about the same?

  • ...I'm hungry now. Just subscribed! Thanks for this video!

  • "You must have something better to do." So True! Haha =)

  • @mistressmandy4589 I second that! You know, it's amazing how people can take an elitist or arrogant attitude towards FOOD. Food should be delicious and nutritious, and there's so many different ways of cooking food. Constantly bickering about how it should be cooked and which way is the BEST or ideal way is ridiculous. If you cannot approach cooking with love and an appreciation for variety, get out of the kitchen. That's my motto.

  • @ShamusMacGuffin Lol, I completely forgot what my comment said, so I had to come back and watch the video again to see what I was talking about LOL I'm not complaining, I want meatballs now :) Cooking should not be a set recipe, a set number of ingredients, etc.. that's the beauty of cooking, because you can change it to suit your taste, and the person making the argument about balls not having sides, come on. They just wanted to start an unneccessary arguement! They need to get a life!

  • I'm going to make these as an appetizer for my New Year's Eve Party.

  • Was the result good? :P

  • im not a big fan of parsley, is it ok if i put in chives and green onions instead?

  • You make all your vids look so easy, that's what I like about you. :D Short and simple, straight to the point. <3

  • Great recipe make with fresh sauce too :)

  • I think you overcrowded the pan

  • i accidently made the meat balls too big and some of them kinda fell apart.. BUT they were still really good.. i put them on spaghetti noodles and they were super delish.. thank you for the recipe... practice makes perfect.. also for everyone else.. you really should try the chicken parmesean bake its also really good too.. thanks john

  • i accidentaly the meatballs!

  • fcc

  • thank you! i enjoy all your videos!

but could you perhaps put the measurements on the side bar? that way it'll be easier to follow your video while cooking. Great job by the way!

  • do we find ricotta in asda or anyother retailers in UK?? or can i use cottage cheese instead of ricotta??

  • cottage cheese tends to be lumpier, so you may wanna give it a good mix before adding it to the other ingridients, but other than that it sounds like a great replacement. Let me know how it goes

  • I'm pretty sure you can get ricotta in the UK

  • Dont know!!! I have looked in the cheese section of all the big retailers...haven't found it yet!!

  • just simple... basic... food.

    lmfao

  • Who taught you how to say ricotta? Not an Italian.

  • you say tomato, i say tomahto.

  • Very interesting !

  • What is that music? and where can i download it???

  • These meatballs are quite good, although, like others posting comments here, I added a bit more salt and Italian seasoning to the mix. I'm not a huge pasta fan (I know, it's blasphemy!), so I served them over plain white rice. Yummy!

  • Correction: A meatball has one side: "The Outside". SO you can brown meatballs on all sides!

  • I love your humor hahaha. Surfaces and sides.. lol

  • Yum! That looks so good!

  • I added a bit more salt since they were a tad bland. Other than that, they were lovely and I added parmesan cheese to my sauce as well as fresh Oregano. :o)

  • niceeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

  • your my favorite chef!!! do you have a book? I would love to buy!

  • LOOKS GREAT, IM GOING TO DO THIS!

  • tad* bland. sorry

  • I agree, I added extra salt to my sauce. But they were still pretty good.

  • Looks good, but I imagine it would taste a tid bland? Anyone tried it out? What's the taste factor like?

  • this recipe looks so easy. i will try it. my husband makes a porcipine meatball that his mother made which has rice mixed in the meat mixture. they are good too. Thanks the video. i love watching you cook. :)

  • Hi,

looks good, easy to make, and i'm sure it tastes good!

C'mon, just mouthwatering like all of Chef John's recipes!

    greetings from Germany

    Joe

  • Great paper towel tip :)

  • BTW , also consider adding Pinenuts and Rasins / Currants , it is a Southern Italy variation of the Meatball

  • i love this guy's side comments as he cooks, lol. hilarious.

  • Sloppy Joes please :) Make me happy! Make me really really happy!! Please please please, make Wuschlkarin happy!

  • looks too watery meatballs look good though

  • chef john, could you please make a paella video recipe?

  • omg with spaghetti...delicious!

    definitely going to try it

  • Spheres have infinitely many sides.

  • please say flavourSOME instead of flavourFUL. please please please. thenks choh

  • Why would he say flavoursome ? :S

  • why?

  • because flavourful is not a word!

maybe english is not your language???

  • both words are in my dictionary, maybe you should find a life instead of being a pompous ass.

  • Uh oh, maybe dropping out of school wasn't such a good idea, after all ;)

  • Chef John. I love you

  • LOL! "Balls don't have sides." I'll surely make these.

  • you might as well just fried them...a lot less work turning them and all that crap, then just strained the fat

  • LOVE your voice overs.

  • i can see you in the reflection of the bowl, chef john...

  • creeeeeepy

  • Funny I use to do exactly the same stuff but without ricotta, it's one of my favorite dishes, it pretty good with rice or some potatoes purée <3

  • I'm making these TONIGHT!!!

  • was it good??

  • Pronouncing ricotto cheese, needs alittle work. But the recipe is good

  • I was wondering about that. Had me doubting myself for a sec. The correct prounciation I believe is Ri-cot-ta.

  • I am going to make my meatbals tonight using hot italian sausage with ground turkey and spices (we like it hot) and I am going throw in some Ricotta now. Thanks for the tip.

  • AS ALWAYS Your great...........and so are you videos....from Italy.....well enjoy...

  • this looks so yummy! especially the cheese. I thought you were going to stuff some cheese inside the meatballs. LOL but this looks super good too!

  • and finish them with grated parmegiano reggiano on the top and basil also! :)

  • you are the best chef on youtube!!!

  • Does the salt HAVE TO be kosher?

  • no but it just taste better, nothing religious but kosher is better than regular salt

  • LOL, the salt is not kosher! :-)

Kosher salt just means coarse salt. It's called that because salt is used to drain blood out of meat to make *it* kosher, and coarse salt is easier to brush off afterwards than fine salt is. There's nothing particularly kosher about the salt itself. Wikipedia has a good article about it, check it out.

    And happy cooking.

  • Yes!!!

  • these are great. not as good as my moms but still fantastic. my mom makes sweet meatballs so i guess u cant really compare it!

  • A perfect Fall evening supper!

I'm going to try it. :-)

  • You are hilarious and awesome.

  • i can't wait to try this!! <3

    looks soo delicious!! :)

    thanks for sharring!!

  • yea yea yea gotta try this soon!

  • I like these with mashed potatoes. yes, I am odd.

  • this looks like it would be good for a meatball sub

  • Oh..and Atkins friendly cause I used 5 carb bread to make the bread crumbs..loved it..love your videos, Chef..thanks..hugs from rhode island..

  • This looks soooo delicious!! I cant wait to try this...♥

  • How prominent do you guys think the onions are? I hate hate onions :( could i not use them or maybe use onion powder?

  • Maybe you could use green peppers instead...♥

  • leftover rice also works.....

  • Do you hate the taste of onions or their texture? If it's texture then go with the onion powder, if it's taste then I'd leave it out and just be careful not to burn the garlic.

Ricotta cheese doesn't have much flavor so if you don't like garlic then there isn't much point to making these.

  • it does not taste like onions, but they add to the flavor... they are part of the mix...

and if you hate them so, just add half and chop even finer...... or fry a piece of onion (to flavor the oil) trow it out, and add onin power to the meat

  • got you thanx a bunch :)

  • yummm<3

  • meat balls with rice are much much better :P

  • I think meatballs have sides. If they didn't, they would roll around in the pan.

  • Love how your videos are so simple and easy to understand! love this and I'm so going to try this. Wonder if you could teach us how to do a delicious meat loaf??? thanks.

  • He recently did a meatloaf like 2-3 months ago.

  • Really? ok, thanks, I will definitely check out that video.

  • IM So HUNGRY NOW!!!

  • italians don't mix it because tradition says not too because everyone doesn't want meat.

  • Funny!...and yummy!...

  • pronounced re-cotta

    re as in reprehend

  • i want some please

  • I am a Chef John groupie! No one has made me feel excited about cooking like you have. Thanks for sharing your skill with us.

  • soo good!! thanks so much chef!

  • Great video! I'm going to try adding the ricotta, that's a fantastic idea!

  • Ballz dont have sides :))))

  • I never knew we could even over mix food! O_O

  • Ree-coh-da lol thats funny

  • 5 STARS Chef!!!!

  • Mmmmmmm Yum!

I think my I made meatballs for my spaghetti ONCE and then i just got lazy and just browned the ground meat and added the sauce and that was it lol. Ill definately try this!

  • If you make meatballs, it's a great idea to make a triple batch, then you can freeze the other 2 batches. Since it's so labor intensive, it's awesome to pull out a package of meatballs already made from the freezer. They freeze beautifully.

  • Thanks! =)

  • wow they look so nice.. I'M HUNGRY
