It depends on what kind of cartoons you're referring to...and Sailormoon is NOT a cartoon, it's a ANIME. People should NEVER mix Japanese Animes with ordinary cartoons from other countries, they're very different.

Japanese Animes are still drawn very beautifully and artistically, a lot of them are still using the same popular anime formulas.

I remember when i was younger, i had a really pretty blue nail polish that matched the Mercury blue PERFECTLY. So whenever my nails were painted i would run around the house yelling "Mercury star power, MAKE UP!" and then make a lot of (rather unnecessary) sound effects to make it sound like i was transforming. XD My parents would always look at me like i was crazy, but i didn't care, i was Sailor freakin Mercury! XDDDD

her first attack might have been weaker than the other senshis, but she was never "useless"...there were many times when her bubble attack provided sufficient backup for the other senshis to either escape or give them the opportunity to attack.

Besides, Mercury always had that useful pocket computer which she used to analyze important data about their enemies. Which helps them to defeat their enemies.

All in all, Mercury has always been a very important part of the team.

Some ppl don't understand just how important Mercury is on the team, they tend to under-estimate her.

Mercury is smart & often comes up with good strategies to help the team defeat their enemies. Her first attack was her weakest, but it was a useful backup attack. All her subsequent attacks were much stronger. And her pocket computer can analyze their enemy's weak points which is crucial in defeating them.

Mercury is the brains of the team & without her, the Senshis would've been much weaker.

The episode btw is "Ami's First Love" Hope i could help!
