I love your use of the word "eldritch" - so antique and atmospheric! Much better than the original, which refers to Caligari as "a mountebank" - that's the English translation, anyway, not sure how the original German read.
The original film is legendary. However, the ending is something that always bothered me...
It was suggested by Fritz Lang, Robert Wiene had nothing to do with it.
It was an attempt to make the movie politically correct.....Authority can be insane sometimes. But there always comes the tome when authority is the guardian of sanity and order.
I loved it! Congratulations - you've achieved a real sense of nightmare, and the combination of live action, animation and puppetry was very exciting.
(Oh c'mon, If you're a fan of this classic film you'll know all this) The 'Asylum' sign at the very begining gives away the fact that this takes place in an insane asylum and that the two men who open the film are mad, When in the original film that's not revealed until the very end.
No offence meant (it was said with a smile - honest). It's just we all know the ending of Psycho too, but there's a whole generation always coming up that are seeing it for the first time. It's nice to let people see films for the first time without knowing how it ends. Didn't you get to see Cabinet without knowing the end once too?
It´s good. But If I tried to remake this clasic, I would try to change the story to it´s original censored purpose, that means without the end where is said that everything happened in his insane minde. But I liked it.
The original film was by Robert Wein in 1919 (I think). Wein was a commercial director but his film became the landmark of German expressionism cinema.
WOW!!!!! Seriously, this is unbelievable stuff! The music and visuals are just stunning! I can't thank you enough for creating this masterpiece. Stunning, truly stunning! Great job!!
Excellent, guys. Really, really good. Captured the spirit very well. Makes me wonder why the original couldn't tell the tale in the same amount of time.
You only used imovie to make this? Well done. Its great. Good work. You must have spent a lot of time on it. Good fun, simple animations. And the Dr Caligari puppet is very creepy.
Very nice! Brilliant ideas and great animation&acting&everything :) Added to fav&shared.

That was really freaky. Loved the puppet Caligari ( who looked like a demented hybrid of the Joker and the Penguin from Batman) and the eerie music.

Pretty good man, some things were a tad over exadurated, but Id say it was a solid view and well constructed.
