This whole album is their best. I first noticed Whitesnake in seventh grade with Love Ain't No Stranger, Slow and Easy, and Slide It In. Then, I bought the cd when 1987 came out. I have almost everything Coverdale has done and love the Purple albums and the first few Whitesnake albums. But this one is the perfect sythnthesis of their bluesy roots and the melodic popmetall that came after.
ah, this song takes me right back to my youth when Whitesnake were a great example of british pub / rock come good. Shame Coverdale had to tinker with things, sack most of the band etc, it then became the pityful David Coverdale ego project. For all of you Under 30, this was when Whitesnake were at their best, producing great rock.. rock on!!
vevo are a bunch of motherfuckers a cannot watch lots of whitesnake vids ... even I cannot watch thunderstruck video from acdc shown under time bar FUCK YOU VEVO
Shut the fuck up u cunt, if not for VEVO, we would have to pay for youtube to watch videos online, Vevo is paying all the videos you see of Whitesnake, and all other good bands music so shut the fuck up our big mouth
Check out these two Irish dudes cover of im yours, its glam rock singing meets jason mraz...I challenge you not to enjoy it!!! Just type in "im yours cover alter ego"
Wish i could go back to the early 80s, great time for Rock music , saw Whitesnake live quite a few times back then, and they were fantastic. How i was in love with David Coverdale when i was 18,lol.
This is the actual lineup that played on Slide It In. David Coverdale on vocals, Mel Galley and Micky Moody on guitars, Jon Lord on keyboards, Colin Hodgskinson on bass and Cozy Powell on drums. When the album was released in North America it had John Sykes replacing Micky Moody and original bassist Neil Murray was back. It is however the same album and I do not think they rerecorded any tracks with the new members. After that they were down to four members when Mel Galley and Jon Lord left.
@Guitarist1972 For the American release Sykes overdubbed some tracks....like the solo on Slide it in. Its cool to compare both solos back to back...not a heap of difference but that Sykes flavour oozes from his version.
This still looks like the seventies to me...When did eighties rock bands ever look so seventy-ish like this vid...Maybe Foreigner, and that's it...Like ACDC in 1980, doing back n black...Judas Priest, with British Steel...The list goes on...Aren't these boys wearing bell bottoms in this vid, a clear indication of seventies rock...
@nostalgia43 actually I think it was 1983, a few years before the glam rock scene exploded with its big hair, sequins, makeup, and spandex. I agree that their style here does look a few years behind the times. Maybe that is why they adopted a whole new look for their Here I Go Again video? Maybe by then someone told them to get with the times! LOL. :)
@MANHATTANBEEFMAN You could not be more wrong, Beef Stew. The genre is experiencing a revival of sorts, with people of all ages embracing it---kids and teens, too, as evidenced by strong concert attendance. Hair metal from the 80's, an abandoned genre when 90's grunge killed it, is now again appreciated and in demand. In light of this knowledge, can I order a Whitesnake concert ticket for you? LOL. :)
First I have to put up with cRap & hiphop putting an end to my grunge era and now you're telling me that long hair girly types are being wheeled out onstage in all their glittering, spandex glory! This is why I'm turning to country music Mrs. Waite!
@MANHATTANBEEFMAN If you can't beat it, Beef, then join it! I always told you that a nice spandex jumpsuit, a la 80's style, would complement your beefy physique very nicely. LOL. See, us people that grew up in the 80's have a fun attitude about music and life, unlike you angst-ridden and morose 90's kids. You can blame Nirvana for that. lol. :)
this is very similar to Thin Lizzy's sound. only in this song. but its still incredible. Cozy Powell is a god on drums. Whitesnake rules. they were better at this time than in the late 80's though imo.
@Hitman116 Yea, but maybe cus that guitar sound was very popular in that time. And when Vai joined Whitesnake, I think that is the period that made them hard rock, instead of r'n'r like they were. But, no matter what genre of rock they play, THEY ARE AWESOME! :D
i cant help but notice how many songs have "love" in whitesnakes song titles lol guilty of love, is this love, love aint no stranger, lay down your love, fool for your loving, give me all your love just to name a few :P
i was lucky enough to see these guys 4 times in the 80s, and they were absolutely fantastic! Me and my friend used to love David Coverdale, and always managed to get right to the front of the stage to drool over him! lol. The 80s were a great time for rock music - happy days! Lynda
