I found an article about your invention and a link to this video. Very cool... You continue to be a cleaver guy. Too bad about the audio...How about recording a voice-over track?
Cool hack.... i'm slightly confused though... does the BS2 communicate to the server which communicates to the beta bright or is it a different connection and the server only connects to twitter for the BS2?
Hi Ryan and everyone at YouTube, Make and Engadget
My name is Brian Snyder, and I work at Whirlpool Corporation where we make Maytag appliances. Im excited to see that youre still getting use out of what looks like a 25 year-old Model A210.
Were always looking for new ways to connect our appliances with the Internet.
Were always listening @WhirlpoolCorp, so please drop us a line! And, of course, well be following the excitement of @PiMPY3WASH.
Queston for the poster: If you went to all the trouble to modify your washer, why didn't you take it one step farther by bypassing the dial & go with a all digital interface?
it wasn't much trouble, but adding a digital display does nothing to solve my problem. I wasn't really setting out to improve the washer. Just sort of play around with electronics and do something useful. (to me anyway)
nice, I was planning to do something similar because i always forget to take the clothes out. I didn't think to incorporate twitter though. I was just going to put a sign that lights up by the fridge whenever I needed to take out the clothes.
I'm an Electronic Engineer, but I'm also a man, why waste good electronics and time on something a woman can do perfectly well. But clearly this guy doesn't have a woman around. Good luck with that one, they'll probably see the washing machine setup and run.
I'm an Asic Designer for Intel AND I'm a woman and I feel truly bad for your wife. I think this guys idea is brilliant, and you're just jealous you didn't think of it first. Now go do your own laundry!
FPGAs are my thing. Don't feel bad, it's all just a bit of fun, friendly banter between the sexes so don't get offended. Maybe it's an American thing (or wherever) most of us here in UK keep our washing machine in the kitchen or similarly regularly visited spot. Kudos though, I love to see great Electronic (or otherwise) mods done to otherwise totally mundane household things, why else would I have been watching the video? Keep it up.
....no more mildew clothes? How the fuck do you manage that? I've had clothes sit over night and not mildew. If your clothes start growing shit if they sit for too long, you're doing something wrong when you "wash" clothes.
This is cool, but it needs more cowbell somehow... pocket timer (aka cell phone) works great here. Can't think of a suggestion, a washing machine would be difficult to hard hack anything...
Nice work. At first I thought this was a made to mock the tonnes of useless hacks for the dumbest things made by so many people. But if I had the means, or know-how to do it myself, I'd be all over it. Make one for the dryer too, help keep your clothes from wrinkling.
Too cool :-)

You could just... IDK, set a timer? Lame.

You could just walk to work. You could just eat raw vegetables. You could stop disparaging the work of others.

Twitter effectively is SMS. I could do all that with no problems, but this suits my needs the best. Good luck on your hack.
