  • and the other girl has tried to kill herself and her mom numerous times because a man follows her around and tells her to do so

  • i agree with not giving children drugs, unless they absolutly need it, in this case she did.. i think you missed the part where her imaginary friends tell her to kill herself and hurt other people, including a man that follows her around and tells her to do "bad things", she also says she wants them to go away, i think this is a very clear case of schizophrenia

  • I agree with you

  • human beings retain strong denial about truth & reality of spiritual entities and spiritual presence in our world. a clever lie has been created, to explain away matters that humans have absolutely NO ability to understand or tolerate. the lie is some sort of "mental illness", where the real truth is that human beings are NOT the only beings that exist. this causes great fear (terror) and the desperation to "explain it all away". humans want sense of "control" over what they cannot control.

  • no its not child adbuse there doing this so there child dont harm themself or each other what r u stupid

  • My daughter is 12 and has almost exactly the same behavior as these children. It is not easy to deal with I know. I felt horrible sending her to be diagnosed which is happening at this time in a hospital. The not knowing and her being away from me is the worst. It was not an easy decision to make but I know in my heart it's the right thing to do. Good luck and god bless you & your family.

  • isn't 12 years old the most young age to get schizophrenia?

  • My son has been hallucinating since before age 7 and is now 15. Without antipsychotics, he would have been institutionalized a long time ago. He was violent and aggressive and unable to interact with his world until the appropriate use of these medications which have allowed him to be happy and interactive most of the time. The hallucinations do not go away completely but he has a quality of life the antipsychotics gave back to him.

  • @blastkohl

So you didn't cure his underlying psychological problems, just coshed his brain into submission with a chemical lobotomy?

  • @Isisbridge I would love it if you had something better to offer because at this point, with the help of well over 100 individuals, this is the best we have been able to do for him. He feels happy most of the time now. He is a wonderful person who has a very loving heart. He will tell you he has been set free.

  • @blastkohl

I don't have anything to "offer" when I don't know your son. All I can say is there must have been problems with his upbringing for him to have ended up like that. And now you've solved the problems by damaging his brain, and he's happy with that because he doesn't know any better.

  • @Isisbridge Interesting...you don't have anything to offer our son because you don't know him, but you are able to speak with certainty that his upbringing caused his problems.

  • @blastkohl

IF your son was psychotic at age seven, then there MUST have been something wrong in his upbringing, because kids don't end up psychotic for no reason at all. Or maybe he wasn't psychotic???

  • lol..i wander what they would say to me, an 18 year old who is in the proccess of designing the entire world of my imaginary friends. i like my world better than here too, don't balme myself lol

  • Opra's segment did not even show 1 percent of these girls real life problems. On ABC afew hours ago I saw what these girls were like before medication, and even the one with the braids said that the medication doesn't work she keeps seeing things.

  • now if i got on these anti phycotic drugs i would be at the mercy of a brain disorder that i did not have..i w3s a bad kid just as bad as these kids if not worse.im not here to push jesus or beatings but the hour of religion to read the teachings of christ i hold to this day as charished memories.really i dont know what im trying to say but thanx for reading....id like to thank the nuns for all the help during and after school..god bless

  • Michael Schofield wanted this "illness" for Jani to make himself feel better:

"Nobody talked us into labeling Jani schizophrenic. In fact, they went out of their way to convince us that she wasn't. Schizophrenia doesn't exist in children this young, they said. Susan and I pushed for the diagnosis of schizophrenia. And UCLA resisted, for five months. Now she has the label. And I am happy. Because if it isn't schizophrenia, then my daughter is just a brat with behavioral probems."

  • I doubt very much this guy is a psychologist because he doesn't know the f what he is talking about! Schizophrenia is more than just having imaginary friends plus drugs like risperdal can make an enormous difference to a sufferers life.

  • @clealuira

Yes, schizophrenia is more than just having imaginary friends.

Jani has imaginary friends and is NOT schizophrenic.

She was on risperdal and it DIDN'T help.

  • Corporate hegemony is the dry rot of American civilization and the Monsanto Company is a prime example of extreme corporate hegemony. If the people of this country are really stupid enough to allow a bully, toxic chemical company to genetically morph the world's seed supply, then we all deserve the consequences. We grow our own food - I suggest everyone reading this do the same, unless you believe your body will mutate into one that can safely consume and digest Monsanto's "creations".

  • Wow, so I encouraged childhood schizophrenia in my children? They are grown now and are amazing adults. We still talk about the imaginary friends from their childhood.

  • Michael Schofield’s blog: “Jani is sleeping in her own urine... It is the drugs, of course. I am not sure if it is the lithium or the thorazine... I lie in my daughter’s urine and all the things that anonymous people who have written to me to warn of the evils of long term use of anti-psychotics comes back to me and tortures me. Despite the impression I might give, I retain every criticism of me I’ve ever gotten. The ones that tell me I am killing her are the ones that stay with me the most.”

  • You know how the great father of modern psychiatry treated patients? You know how said doctor treated himself? Yes, the great Sigmund Freud treated his patients for depression with...COCAINE! And not the cheap thin stuff you get on the streets today, but REAL uncut true blue white! Same cigar envy "genius" for 8 years of his ground breaking work treated himself with...COCAINE. These are facts, ladies and gents. He was a coke head. If he was alive today he'd be getting cornholed in a federal pen.

  • Many adults have an imaginary friend. It's called Jesus! The difference is these little girls are fairly harmless, at least right now. Adults with imaginary friends murder each other over their imaginary friends every day. If you don't believe in the adults' imaginary friends then you get murdered. If you have an imaginary friend of your own, you have to defend it against the imaginary friend of others.

  • @FathomlessJoy very good point. Seems to be a double standard with kids and adults. Everyone talks about how Jani hits and scratches and yet no one is outraged by her own fathers violent actions. So adults are allowed to lash out in physical violence but it's not ok for kids? Guess the same goes for the imaginary friends.

  • @FathomlessJoy i believe in jesus...are you saying im gonna go murder someone?? your an idiot im sorry. I have gotten death threats from atheists because i believe in a god...but i dont know any christian who has given death threats or wanted to murder someone. please tell me when you saw these ppl murdered and how you were involved with them...oh ya, you werent, your just making assumptions

  • @battlefield3media I live in a so-called Christian nation. 80% of the citizens of this nation claim they're Christian. The nation in question makes war on every non Christian nation in the world with relative immunity. Why? Beause they want oil, and hate other people in other relgions. These Christians live in fear daily and thus cling to their beliefs and keep on bombing mostly poor people in Muslim countries. So, my question to you: how are you different from the Christians I just mentioned?

  • @FathomlessJoy really so did we get in a war with germany and japan for oil? what about vietnam was that for oil too? oh and christians must have been the mastermind in those wars as well.....first off tell me when have we ever gotten a drop of oil from iraq or afghanistan, secondly, christians dont bomb muslim countries....our military does, and our military's agenda has nothing to do with religion. I think you should focus on the terrorists we are fighting, they blow up malls for 72 virgins.

  • @battlefield3media Ah had to go back pretty far for an example. As George Carlin once said, "Hitler wanted to take over the world. The Christians in the West said, NO WAY, that's our fucking job!"

But I'm not here to argue geo-politics. I made the statement that Christians are a warring group who sociopathically justify all manner of murder. So far you are are proving me right. By the way: where was Jesus' military? When did he say, "Make war on your brothers and use any excuse you want"?

  • @FathomlessJoy christians arent making war......like i said, our military's agenda has nothing to do with religion.....i cant stand you dumbfucks who just spout out opinions without any factual basis. Please tell me a time when you saw a christian murder someone because of their religion. i doubt you can. Just because america is mostly christian doesnt mean all the wars we get in are christians fault....i know many atheist in the military and many politicians are atheist. so do they get a pass?

  • @battlefield3media "i cant stand you dumbfucks..."

Ah it seems the decent, intelligent, respectful conversation with this Christian is over. We made it a mere few sentences. However, you do prove a powerful point on behalf of you and your religion, sir!

  • I live in Texas and was placed in a lock down facility. This place was not meant to be like a mental hospital it was supposed to be more like a school. I was shocked at all the things i saw. Many of these kids were placed there because the Child Protective Services thought they needed psychotic help. I believe these medications that they took made them worse. We were all treated like animals and thank the lord that place is getting shut down.

  • @214Texasmade817

That's a terrible thing to do to children and could actually give them mental health problems. I hope you have survived the experience without too much psychological trauma and are not being forced to take medications. Please speak out about what happened to you. Perhaps you could write a book about what you witnessed?

  • @Isisbridge Actually i am on medication by court orders for depression. I learned a lot from that experience and im just living day by day hoping that some day i can get better.

  • @214Texasmade817

That's incredible, that a court can order you to take drugs for depression. Were you actually depressed before they made the order? And do you feel better or worse with the drugs? I should think that being put through the experiences they've put you through would MAKE a person depressed.

  • @Isisbridge Yes i was or as the psychiatrist at the juvenile said. I've been on and off medications for about 5 years and i been in and out of juvenile when i was young. I was already used to these drugs that with out them i felt like crap and withdrawing from them sucks. I know many people say its bad to take meds for depression but i couldnt do anything at the time.

  • The loss of gray matter seen in people with schizophrenia is caused by the antipsychotic medications they are given. Similar loss of brain tissue has been found in monkeys given antipsychotics, even though the monkeys were presumably not schizophrenic. Psychiatry tries to refute this by claiming that they have also found this brain damage in unmedicated schizophrenics, but on reading the small print one finds that these "unmedicated" schizophrenics had received medication too!

  • Please visit> psychiatric-abuse(dot)org(dot)uk/

  • All interested in this topic please watch Jani Scofields vids. This child has been labeled with the nonverifiable disease of childhood schizophrenia because she is imaginative and thinks differently. She is currently on large doses of three psychotropic drugs and at 9 years old cannot speak as well as she did at age 5. Her parents use her label to promote their radio show and in trying to get a book published . Her dad bullies readers of his blog for donations. channel 'JaniFoundation' plscomm

  • There are brain diseases which might require medication, for example, Parkinson's Disease, Alzheimer's Disease, Multiple Sclerosis.... But schizophrenia is NOT a brain disease. Schizophrenia is a psychological disorder. And the medications currently prescribed for schizophrenia actually cause brain damage.

  • @Isisbridge Schizophrenia is a psychiatric disorder, not a psychological disorder.

The PHYSICAL traits/impairments of the brain include:

    1. Significant Loss of Gray Matter of Brain (up to 25% in some areas)

    2. Enlarged Ventricles

    3. Neurological Abnormalities

    4. Impaired Cognitive Function

    5. Decreased Pre-frontal Brain Function

    6. Impaired Awareness of iIlness

    -Psycho Cookie

  • @cookieicxc

There are no significant structural differences in the brains of schizophrenics compared to the general population. The decreased prefrontal brain function and subsequent loss of gray matter is due to the effects of the antipsychotic medications, which block input to the frontal lobes and cause the brain to atrophy. The same atrophy is seen in the brains of monkeys subjected to these drugs. You are giving your patients brain damage when you administer them.

  • @Isisbridge Incorrect, see above.

  • @cookieicxc

The so-called "impaired awareness of illness" supposedly exhibited by some schizophrenics is due to the fact that they don't have any illness, the "illness" being in the minds of the doctors and relatives who reduce them to that status. The schizophrenic state is not a disease but a psychological disturbance arising from not being recognised as a real person.

  • @cookieicxc Please site some sources for your claims. Loss of grey matter prior or post psychotropic medication? Prove enlarged ventricles is abnormal. Neurological abnormalities or just differences? Impaired or just differing cognitive function? Decreased prefrontal brain function or difference in overall brain function? Impaired awareness or differing awareness. Pretty much all your claims are subjective and quoting yourself seems grandiose and narcisistic. Who are you btw?

  • @beautifulmind546

ALL brains are different. So whilst some schizophrenics might have larger-than-average ventricles, you'll find similar differences in non-schizophrenics too. The problem is that antipsychotic medications shrink the brain tissue, which might make the ventricles of medicated patients look larger. I've got my own brain scan on my channel page, so perhaps the psycho-cookie would like to give an opinion on my ventricles?

  • @beautifulmind546 "Significant Loss of Brain Gray Matter: Individuals with schizophrenia, including those who have never been treated, have a reduced volume of gray matter in the brain, especially in the temporal and frontal lobes. Recently neuroscientists have detected gray matter loss of up to 25% (in some areas). The damage started in the parietal, or outer, regions of the brain but spread to the rest of the brain over a five year period. Patients with the worst brain tissue loss also..."

  • @cookieicxc "...had the worst symptoms, which included hallucinations, delusions, bizarre and psychotic thoughts, hearing voices, and depression." -Dr. E Fuller Torrey

    Just one example.

  • Comment removed

  • @beautifulmind546 Seriously, let's keep the name calling to a minimum.

Anyway, I'm a homeless person who walks the streets giving drugs to all who need haha. Kidding!

  • @cookieicxc

I don't suppose you walk the streets to hand out your evil drugs. More likely you do it from your psychiatric field, which is actually more harmful, because you do it under the guise of healthcare, kidding the people who come to your field that you are really trying to help them. There needs to be a warning sign on the gate: beware of the bull you'll get from psychiatry!

  • @Isisbridge Hey, how did you reply? I blocked you! You give no facts, only opinions and web searched info. Not really interesed, sorry.

  • @cookieicxc

And all you give is dangerous misinformation disguised as fact.

Psychiatry is harm that masquerades as help.

  • @Isisbridge prove it

  • @cookieicxc

Patients have been shown to be losing gray matter volume after taking these medications. What more proof do you need? Not just schizophrenics but those taking it for other conditions as well. Studies have shown widespread brain atrophy in monkeys subjected to regular doses over a two year period (and presumably the monkeys were not schizophrenic). A study was also carried out on non-schizophrenic human volunteers and atrophy of the striatum was seen to commence in two hours.

  • @Isisbridge You can't just discredit the entire APA just on your feelings and opinions.

  • @cookieicxc

The APA votes in their made-up "diseases" just on their feelings and opinions.

  • @Isisbridge You're an idiot.

  • @Isisbridge Obviously you are not as learned as you two friends so maybe keep the "facts" to a minimum. Just stick with name calling.

    -Psycho Cookie

  • @cookieicxc

I call you psycho-cookie because you admit to administering psychotropic drugs whilst not stating whether you are a nurse, psychiatrist, or something else in the psychiatric field. All I know is that you are a dangerously deluded person who believes you are doing good by inflicting brain damage on your customers, and you actually condone the abuse that is being done to poor Jani.

  • So every organ in the body can have a disease that requires medication except the brain? Yeah, okay, good luck with theory.

  • Comment removed

  • @JinxOz All American public school are required to accept all children despite any mental illness. Jani could be enrolled in public school.

  • Then how do you cure it or approach the problem? If medicines are not the right way to go.

  • @JinxOz

You enrol her at a special school for autistic children, where there are trained teachers who understand these kinds of problems and can help her with controlling her emotions and developing her social skills.

  • @Isisbridge That makes sense but sounds expensive. So if there would be a special school for autistic children would that mean all other illnesses other than autism would need their own teachers and school? that just sounds ridiculously expensive.

  • @JinxOz

Autistic children need special education because of their social impairments, whereas not all childhood illnesses would need this. Autistic children get this kind of help in England. Are you telling me there is no similar system in the US?

  • @Isisbridge As far I'm concerned there is no system for autistic children (their own school).

  • @JinxOz

I've just googled it and it seems like they do exist.

  • @JinxOz By first viewing it as difference rather than a disfunction or illness and then trying to understand and consider the person. Occupational therapy is great for children. Alternate teaching settings that allow a child to learn at their own pace. Removing toxins from diet and environment that exacerbate struggles. I read a book recently about a special needs child where a woman asked her mother "what is her challenge". We all have challenges and they are all different.

  • The DSM is a phoney book of illness-labels invented by psychiatrists, who seek to classify and treat psychological and behavioural problems as though they are physiological diseases. The sad result is that so many people are starting to take these labels to be FACT and believe that they or somebody else must have an "illness" because their "symptoms" fit the designated categories in this holy bible of psychiatry.

Jani Schofield does not have schizophrenia.

  • He's talking good sense even if his style is rather monotonous.

  • This guy should lose his license. What kind of bullshit is this?????

  • you are a freak!!!!....your even having body spasms as you speak?!?!?!....what the hell is wrong with you?....you cant even spreak on a normal tone and level.....are you drunk or on drugs???? i think so

  • @cookieicxc I do. I have it myself and like I mentioned in another video, it is NOT a pleasant experience. I have it myself. If anybody who is Schizophrenic (any form of it) Manic Depressive, Bipolar, or any other mental health probs. Feel free to message me if you want to. I may be schizophrenic, but my IQ is 138. Bye!

  • Watch "Young Girl With Imagination Diagnosed With Schizophrenia" on my channel .

  • You don't know anything about schizophrenia or what it is like.

  • Oprah doesn't know shit.

  • What would you do if your daughter truly believed that her "imaginary friend" was holding a gun to her head & she so badly wanted to escape that she tried to RUN across the FREEWAY. To say that talking about these imaginary friends are cute & ordinary for these 2 special girls is completely taking this matter out of context. This is real. Maybe labelling it as a disorder is warranted some controversy but minimizing the severity of their visions, delusions& distress is idiotic &small minded.

  • @thegoodlife06

I'd try to find out what was troubling her and why she was having these strange thoughts, do my best to resolve any issues that were adversely affecting her, then help her develop strategies to cope with her fears and emotions. I would NOT take her to a psychiatrist and get her labelled with an imaginary "disease" and given brain-damaging drugs.

  • @Isisbridge I hope you realize that schizophrenia has a genetic basis. If it is an imaginary disease, then why in cases in which one member of a monozygotic twin pair has schizophrenia, is there a 46% chance that the other twin will suffer from schizophrenia as well, even if they grow up in separate households?

There is a genetic and biological basis, just look up brain imaging studies of people's brains with schizophrenia. They have enlarged ventricles and reduced gray matter.

  • @Brunstead

Schizophrenia is not genetic and not even a disease. It's a disturbed state of mind engendered by the confusing environment in which the person has grown up. There is no evidence that schizophrenics in general have significantly larger ventricles than non-schizophrenics, all brains being different in any case. The reduced gray matter is caused by the neuroleptic medications, which are known to shrink the brain..

  • @Brunstead

If schizophrenia were genetic, you would expect a near 100% concordance with monozygotic twins. So a 46% figure would tend to support the fact that it's not genetic. Studies of separately reared twins have included twins living with relatives and still in contact with their mother. Even when adopted into totally separate families, there is still a high chance of the adopting families being schizophrenogenic (likely to cause schizophrenia), as such familes abound.

  • @Isisbridge Most diseases are not 100% caused by genetics. Rather, it implies that there is a biological predisposition to the illness. Whether or not it is expressed is determined by the environment, like in the diathesis-stress model.

I doubt that many households are truly schizophrenogenic; that's an abandoned theory dated from the mid 70s. If that were true, then there would be higher incidences reported in foster families over foundling hospitals. In reality, the incident rate is equal.

  • @Brunstead

That may be the case in diseases but this is not a disease. The reason for greater concordance between monozygotic twins over dizygotic twins is the greater likelihood of similar treatment and of similar temperaments being susceptible to the schizophrenogenic stresses within the family (or substitute family). But that is not the same thing as biological predisposition to a disease. The theory of schizophrenogenic families may be an abandoned theory but nevertheless remains true.

  • @Brunstead

Another factor with monozygotic twins is that in some families they are treated as a single unit ("the twins") rather than as separate individuals

  • @Isisbridge Uh, how about imaginary creatures torturing her with very real pain and horrible imagery? Yeah, fortunately not many kids have to deal with this kind of hell. Have fun running the wrong way on the freeway.

  • @fLiPpAntMisSCreanT

Supposing I'm going the right way along the freeway and it's everyone else who's wrong? The only "hell" this child is having to deal with is the hell of having her brain chemistry messed up.

  • @fLiPpAntMisSCreanT Actually most of Jani's imaginary friends are her only friends and she cares for them very dearly. She even cares about the "mean ones". The hell that Jani is going through is being abused and exploited by her parents and drugged into obedience with drugs destroying her brain and body. The lithium makes her shat herself and the thorazine slurs her speech - if she gets worried about shatting herself then her parents increase her thorazine. That is Jani's hell.

  • How dare he say that Schizophrenia is a fraudulent disease! It's times like this when I wish this site wasn't so keen with it's censoring - that fucking piece of crap! My Uncle has had it ever since I can remember...... (sarcasm) oh no sorry - our family's mistake, he is the way he is because he wants to be.

  • @minerva396

He's not saying that schizophrenic problems aren't real,

just that they aren't caused by a DISEASE.

  • could it be spiritual?

  • Interesting bloke! zzzz

  • @guitarcrazy159 The design of this system is sick, we are told gifted people are sick so we ignore them. They hold the anwsers to the unexplained. Hearing voices has more to it, than a damaged brain. The shadow government are most likely tuning in to people brain waves & responable for the voices. Or they really are spirit entities communicating with these people. One or the other. U know thousands of conversations, coughing & sneezing going on in one mind is not possible without outside input x

  • Its obvious you are on some drugs. Legal or illegal. Why are you constantly twitching like that? Also, your speech is flat, no emotion, and sedated. Typical symptoms on someone on an anti-psychotic.

Can you explain the delusional thinking and paranoid behavior of schizophrenics? Some believe that someone is talking to them through the TV. Also, why treat many illnesses with toxic drugs that can't cure? Didn't you say that these medications don't cure and that's why it is a fake disease?

  • @nurse32

Try reading "Sanity, Madness and the Family" by Laing and Esterson, to give an insight into how this kind of delusional thinking develops. It's not a faked condition, but it's a "fake disease" because it isn't a disease at all. The person has been driven mad by the people around him and NOT by any disease going on in his brain. The medications can't "cure" a disease that isn't there, but they work by flattening the thought processes.

  • Mr. Mackie! jj.

  • u have no idea -- these parents are doing the best for their daughter and you know nothing of having a mentally ill child -- its people like yourself who hinder the help to the mentally ill.............these children are not just playing and being normal children these kids are dangerouse to themselfs and others.....

  • BIIIIIG difference between schizophrenia and imaginary friends. Then again, you probably got your doctorate from a Texas university so I'm not exactly surprised how uneducated you are.

  • ur disgusting petifile

  • u sound like a fuckin pervert to me if its not serious what are these kids doing trying to kill themselves make a video if janeys parents dont give her meds shell kill her brother you dumbass but yeah they should make drugs that help but dont damage but then you dont hear anyone complaing about keemo you need meds buddy you dont even soundlike u know wat ur talkin about

  • These people hold the key to the hidden truths of the world :) x

Like physic abilities, ghosts ect. its crazy that they are ignored & drugged :) x

They are to young to be on any drugs, its pure murder :( x

Stop drugging people, the drugs don't work, they make u worse xxx

  • This guy is a complete quack. He doesn't know what he is talking about at all. There is a clear distinction between hallucinations and imaginary friends. Jani's imaginary friends are not like the ones you had as a child, they are truly real to her and tell her to do bad things. Yes we as a culture do have a problem with overmedicating people for conditions like ADD and ADHD, but this is different.

  • @lilmartmar

So what is this "clear distinction" between hallucinations and imaginary friends? If the imaginary friends are imagined as saying nice things, then they're just imaginary friends. But if they're imagined as saying bad things, then they suddenly become "hallucinations"?

  • I think you are being a little bit too empathetic to the girl alone, not considering the incredible stress the parents are enduring. What do you suggest?? What would you do? You can't say for sure, because you are not in her paren'ts shoes, so what you can do for now is theorize. That's it.

  • @gnar024

I would be 100% empathetic to the littlle girl, because she's the innocent party in all this and is having her brain damaged by the drugs they're giving her. The best solution would be to take her away from those crazy parents and let her live with people who will help her development instead of harming her like this.

  • Jani actually had a documentary on tv quite a while back; she wasnt just having imaginary friends, she was in danger to herself and to others. you say you did research?

  • hahahaha this video is a joke

a bogus made up disease.. haaha more like a bogus old man who thinks he knows everything

he obviously did not do much research on this subject of these girls before he made this video. those parents werent abusive in any way... watta f**** goof

  • how the fuck do you have a degree? you should not be a doctor.

  • disease is an abnormal condition affecting the body of an organism; Illness (sometimes referred to as ill-health or ailment) is a state of poor health. Illness is sometimes considered a synonym for disease; we are merely arguing about semantics; researchers have been able to map the brain's patterns and variations creating a "chemical fingerprint" for disorders such as bipolar; the side effects of meds are irrelevant if the person is unable to function normally without or commits suicide

  • @cheetocairo

It's not semantics we're arguing about: it's the fact that psychologically disturbed people are treated as though they have a disease when they do not have a disease. There is no abnormal condition affecting the body of the organism. These people are disturbed as a result of their life experiences, and not because of any abnormality in the brain. But the medications they are given can actually cause abnormalities in the brain, and some commit suicide in spite of the medications

  • @Isisbridge what the fuck nforget about the world i have a daughter and you have to understand these people are dangerous stop being ignorant people like youn get killed by schizophrenic you people need help

  • yeah right mental illness doesn't exist; how are people who are severely depressed, hearing voices, or seeing things suppose to feel if someone tells them it is all made up and there is nothing wrong with them? Bi-polar and other mental illnesses run in my family, myself included, and I can tell you it is not made up. Yes, meds are not always the answer and shouldn't be taken haphazardly, but sometimes they are necessary; we are lucky to live in an age with these treatments available

  • @cheetocairo

The problems exist alright, but they are not DISEASES.

  • i dont think its all black and white... but i feel some children need heavy meds,,, i have seen a few,,,

and to say its not real is just irrespnsible

  • i dont think its all black and white... but i feel some children need heavy meds,,, i have seen a few,,,

  • please tell me you're about to argue the functions of the brain not being biological lol. everything we do is a bodily function -- biology. to say our own thoughts aren't biology is to say we aren't ourselves.

  • @blonker

Brain function may be biological, but when our thoughts become confused or disturbed, it is not necessarily due to any malfunction of that biological brain function.

  • @Isisbridge schizophrenia is more than becoming confused; it's a complete hindrance of brain function. scans show dilation in open spaces of the brain in schizophrenic patients and inflation of the frontal lobe. schizophrenia is a biological problem.

  • @blonker

Enlarged ventricles are caused by the shrinking of the surrounding gray matter, which occurs with the medications given to schizophrenic patients. Antipsychotic drugs cause brain damage, and this has been proven in studies with monkeys and humans. But psychiatry and the drug companies are not keen for the public to know this, so they've invented a lie that the damage is being caused by the so-called "disease" of schizophrenia.

  • @Isisbridge believe me, i'm one to be skeptical about the greed of pharmaceuticals. you just can't attribute the effects of schizophrenia to the side-effects of the medicine to treat it though.

  • @blonker

The structural damage seen in the brains of some schizophrenics is directly caused by the drugs they are given. Non-medicated schizophrenics do not show this damage.

  • @Isisbridge please include the source of this info (and I hope it is a serious source if it exists).

  • @Isisbridge Look Psychiatryonline study by Gaser et al.- ventricular Enlargement in Schizophrenia a solid study shows opposite is true, putamen area INCREASED not decreased in size due to medication. Many studies show no correlation btw. medication history and ventricular shrinkage..

Oh and correlation in stats never infers CAUSATION by the way...

In return I would love to look at your monkey studies which claim phenothiazine induced damage ( no doubt published in peer-reviewed literature?)

  • @Isisbridge But I bet you didn't know that maniacal fits of the Bipolar type 1 also cause same shrinkages of gray matter. Or that that the reduced area rebounded within ONE DAY and returned to a it's normal size after discontinuation of Haloperidol (that is the drug about which you are actually speaking).

Or, that the doze given to volunteers was much larger than that given to a schizophrenic patient.

Or the fact that shrinking ventrices were there before phenothiazines (name of the group)

  • @dharmanova

During a recent experiment on the effects of antipsychotic medication on human volunteers, brain shrinkage was noted after just a few hours. The area concerned then returned to its normal size after just one day. But a similar recovery could not be expected in the brains of patients who are subjected to regular doses over a long period of time. Studies on monkeys have shown widespread brain damage after two years.

  • illness - impairment of normal physiological function affecting part or all of an organism

mental illness exists based on your argument. even if temporary, drinking coffee or smoking marijuana hinder the brain at one point. why do you argue that mental illness is not real because you have a different theory of what causes eccentric behavior? the purpose of the term is to tell people to stop associating such ridiculous ideas like demonic possession to an obviously biological problem.

  • @blonker

Is your b ubside-down? Saying that all mental illness is a biological problem is just as ridiculous as saying it's caused by demonic possession.

  • why are you twitching...

  • i dont like you ... and cant decide if ur a doctor a profesor a pastor pedifile or a psyco ... from ur manorisms you need meds too ...

  • @LivyKathleen1492

    Meds for everything, eh?

Perhaps you need meds for your spelling?

  • Shame on YOU OPRAH! SO SAD!

  • Yay! Austin TX!!! TELL EM THE TRUTH DR. BREEDING!! Oprahs full of it!

  • Hi dr breeding after being on anti-psychotic for a number of years i am aware that these drugs when given to adults is bad enough but bring children into the equation is frighting i have made a few responces to Jani case. This sort of medication should not and cannot continue to be used on children.I have watched several of the videos about Jani and the more i watch the more alarmed i become. The last shows her and a friend getting excited about their diagnoise of schizophrenia.

  • I believe schizophrenia (if I'm spelling that right) is real in adults, not as much children. I've always had a very good imagination, but I believe that I should only see someone if I happen to have things happen in my later years. I'm not saying you're wrong and I'm right, I'm merely voicing my opinion.

  • Thanks. You never do less than amaze me, Dr. Breeding. I am one with a wonderful gift of imagination. I design and build beautiful wood projects for practical use (ie kitchens, wall units, fine furniture, picture frames) and I have found that members of upper level in society( especially academic types) lack a healthy ability in regards to imagination and spacial comprehension.

  • @carefulcarpenter explain these kids wanting to kill them selves then or wishing death on the whole world so they could be the only ones in it imagination my asssssssss idiot fuck dr breeding that asswhole isbugged in the head making things up your all disturbed

  • @lamujerdeburras

You sound like a drug dealer.

  • Anyone that agrees with this man is a fool, look up Janurary Schofield... shes has obviously had something wrong with her mentally since birth, do some research your lazy americans... the only creditable this guy say is about the damage caused by the drugs....

  • @firebade14

Watch the baby videos and you can see that there was no sign of anything mentally wrong with her at all at birth. But the mother doesn't seem to have been very attuned to her baby's needs, which may account for the difficulties they had with her excessive crying and not sleeping very well. She was obviously highly intelligent but at age one was being taught lists of numbers, days of week etc, instead of the normal social interactions appropriate to her age.

  • @Isisbridge your a stupid bitch if u have kids i feel sorry for you someone give this bitch meds please!!!!!!

  • @firebade14 I'm a fool if I agree with him? In any way? Sounds like you're the fool.

Being American has nothing to do with anything (I'm not American, but I AM a human, and as a human we are all equal). You speak of 'credibility' but you have none to base YOUR claims off of. Sheer stupidity.

I believe that some people are not born schizophrenic, but I do believe schizophrenia can be PROMOTED based on poor parenting. LOOK AT THEM. Chubby, obtuse, unconvincing... living in a tiny apartment.

  • @TickingHand what the hell is a ticking hand you fuckin freak

  • ridiculous that psychiatry is so ignorant an DUMB. They harm people and sometimes even kill brains and even people!

  • The chemical balance of the brain is changing all the time. It changes between wakefulness and sleep, and all kinds of other factors. So how can anyone decide when you’ve got an imbalance? Particularly when, as Ragnarok says, they don't even do any tests. And even if they could do a test, it would be varying from one moment to the next.

  • As the expression goes "check yourself before you wreck yourself". You are a PSYCHOLOGIST you should know that what you are saying is BS. A little girl I know is just like Jani, she's on medication and everything. Are you telling me it's all crap? You clearly know nothing. Taking antipsycotics away from all children? No, that is a shitty idea. I am on antipsycotics and I can tell you that if I was taken off them I would end up killing myself, so would these children.
