I think this series was set in the 60s-70s, same as the novel.

you're right, I actually look thourgh the book online. It's so short, only 14 medium sized chapters. The story don't seems to be dated, but it should be more modern than the 30's.

Liu Xue Hua and Chin Han both acted in this show and Ting Yuan Shen Shen. Ting Yuan Shen Shen was a more popular show back then.

I love this song. I like this old version starring Liu Xuehua & chin Han. Xuehua is a very fine actress. that was why she was cast in so many Qiong Yao's shows way back in 80s and 90s. It's so much better than the newer version by Vicki Zhao.

This serie is good, but it's not better than Tin Yuan Shen Shen or as we call it Xom Vang, which I think is the best love series out there ^-^
