Hi am a 16 year old looking to get his first car. I really really want t get a Dodge Charger. Now I live in New York and as most of you know you cant really speed when the NYPD is right behind you LOL. Am very excited and I really want one. Is there a reconmadation for what year to get? especialy for me ? It has to be good on gas and under $27,000. (used car of course) please someone tell me I want to drive auto mattic as wel. Charger is a good car we have had it for 3 years and no problems. It is a heavy car and depending on your driving style will determine your gas consumption. (Note at age 16 you shouldn't be driving to erratic insurance is going to be very expensive even if you buy a station wagon.) Living in New York maybe the AWD will be good for winter time and that trim only comes with the 5.7 Liter Hemi so be careful..

@Skins4Life1989 Well, Dodge doesn't exactly have a great track record with their cars or trucks lasting very long without major complications. Dodge makes very mediocre at best transmissions. I personally wouldn't get one. It would really cost you in the long run. Whether it be transmission problems, steering, electrical, or otherwise.

My financial situation is bette than it was on 2004 when I got my imp so the charger wont be a police one and no high milage :D

@ZurnaWdahol Well if you want a car with some muscle the R/T 5.7L is a good engine and it does have the multi displacement engine it will kick off 4 cylinders at idiol speed getting alright gas mileage. The SRT-8 6.1L is a bad boy with alot torque and horsepower your going to pay $2,000.00 extra for a gas guzler tax and it doesn't have the multi displacement engine the gas mileage is about 18 mpg at best. .

I got the 08 R/T as well, came with FREE GPS and Sat radio for the year which i think they all do, but i got hte GPS forever, also came with the spoiler and sunroof; only thing I wish it had that it didn't was the auto start from outside with the controls on the steering wheel to change the radio instead of having to use touchscreen all the time. I don't know why all R/T didn't just come with that.

First off about 7K to 10K, doesn't help when you have a $2,500.00 gas guzzler tax the SRT8 also packs a huge punch in horsepower and torque. The 6.1 liter also has alot of potential to modify to really huge horsepower numbers. Not to say the 5.7 Liter doesn't but your already at 425 horses with the 6.1.

Your Charger R/T looks really good! MUCH better than the plain Jane R/T Edmunds Inside Line tested against the Pontiac G8 GT. If you value ride quality and personal preference in looks over the more sporty handling of the G8 GT, you made the right choice. Nice car!

I notice a slight difference in the dash board between this 2008 and my 2006 Charger. The 2008 is slightly rounded while the 2006 has a grooved edge. The center console with the cup holders is also a bit different. Both are nice cars.
