Governor McDonnell's 2010 State of the Commonwealth Address

Gov. McDonnell recommends cutting $730 million dollars in K-12 Education Quality programs, $550 in State retirement programs, Reducing health insurance for teachers and Cutting millions of dollars in aid to families and poor people. Thousands will be without work or benefits rather than make moderate increases in State tax to cover the 4 billion plus budget shortfall. Thoughtful!

@brownocasio I don't envy Governor McDonnell. Imagine justifying the funding for all these programs when thousands more don't have jobs let alone funding for healthcare. I think the governor has his priorities straight. I, personally really can't simpathize with a teacher that makes up to $65,000 when I can't even earn half that for myself and my family working 50+ hours a week. It isn't about covering a shortfall it's about getting my out of work cousin a job.

I'm proud to have Bob McDonnell as my Governor. He's right to direct economic development efforts to those portions of the state (especially the southwest) that are hurting. Northern Virginia doesn't need any help from the state government attracting new business.

when Osama Obama was elected I thought I wouldn't have to work again either. I wanted my house paid for and my transportation, child care, health care, college, my kids college, I wanted beer money, and I wanted him to give me free movie passes. I wanted him to buy me a motorcycle. I wanted my utilities paid for. I wanted him to pay off my debts. When I listened to Osama Obama tonight I realized he will not give me anything and that I would have to work for it, imagine that!

Very sorry but I am a Democrat who took some time but came over to trust this man. Although I am not happy with many things but this man was the best choice over Deeds.

I will stand by Bob as a Democrat and will trust him to straighten out something that is in serious decline in VA. As a teacher, it's called good education in our public schools.

Why not decrease taxes to vineyards and lodging so they can market their own industries. None of what he proposes will make Virignia or America more prosperous.

He wants to emulate failing States like Michigan, Louisiana, South Carolina and Maryland.

Oil/Gas revenue will Bail out his irresponsible plan, 20% going into renewables and 80% going to transportation which will forward build..great inefficiancy but Bailout his donors who will then give to the Republican and Democrat Party.

The Governor's Economic Fund will finish off private investment and private, independent enterprise. Virginia is no longer competitive..he is making us a welfare State.

The ONLY way to create jobs is to cut government and cut taxes. This fund will drive unemployment.

Gov McDonnell (R) Va has accepted "Race to the Top" education "Stimulus" to cover shortfall in education, seeking HSA grants to cover shortfall in police/fire. Jeanne Marie Davis will get any other shortfall. Republicans are forcing a vote on Gov Kaine's budget to show who are the tax and spend folks. Gov McDonnell's p...lan will increase taxes on a Fed'l level and devalue our dollar.
