Many people like to think they are like the Trinitarian God the Son who was impassible and immortal housed in a mortal body. i think he's right, the bible doesn't distinguish between the body and the soul, the way the dualistic greeks and persians do. jews and christians believe the soul dies with the body, and christians believe both soul and body will be resurrected at some point. many catholics, such as saint augustine, were nonetheless heavily influenced by persian and greek thought, such as the prophet mani and the philosopher plato.

@NephilimFree What about the assumption you made in Gen 2. The serpent is ONLY described in gen 2 as a serpent eg "more subtle than any of the other beasts" You have assumed a different scenario which the chapter dosnt support.

The serpents of the Bible were not snakes, they were flying animals, perhaps small species of ptesrasoaurs, as described in Exodus, which were flying serpents. Serpents do not have the intelligence to talk to and beguile humans. It can only be that it spoke because it's body was posessed. Believing anything else would be believing that animals are as intelligent and caniving as man..

i think he's right, the bible doesn't distinguish between the body and the soul, the way the dualistic greeks and persians do. jews and christians believe the soul dies with the body, and christians believe both soul and body will be resurrected at some point. many catholics, such as saint augustine, were nonetheless heavily influenced by persian and greek thought, such as the prophet mani and the philosopher plato.

God punished the serpent by making him crawl on his belly. If Satan possessed the snake then how could a just God punish the serpent for Satan's wrong doings? You cannot add to the words of God or you will be made a liar (Prov 30:5-6).

Satan is the hebrew word for adversary or enemy. It even used when speaking of an angel who was doing the work of God in numbers 22.
The angel is an enemy of baalim in this case.
The idea of satan being the name of a supernatural being is not found in the bible.

The serpents of the Bible were not snakes, they were flying animals, perhaps small species of ptesrasoaurs, as described in Exodus, which were flying serpents. Serpents do not have the intelligence to talk to and beguile humans. It can only be that it spoke because it's body was posessed. Believing anything else would be believing that animals are as intelligent and caniving as man..

As for Genesis, it states the serpent was a beast of the garden. It doesn't say satan spoke to Even, but a a beast of the garden. This can only be because the beast was posessed by satan. If it had been satan in the form of an animal, it would have said so.

God punished the serpent by making it crawl upon its belly, if Satan possessed the serpent god would have punished Satan not the serpent. You need to read scripture more closely and not add to its words, or you will be found a liar. How could God be just if He punished the serpent for Satan's wrong doings? By adding to scripture you've made God unjust.

@timsh6 It was an honest mistake, but it must be corrected. If Satan was in any way behind the serpent's actions, how could God be just in punishing the innocent serpent for Satan's actions? Nowhere in Genesis does it say anything about Lucifer or Satan, so when you claim the serpent was Satan you add to the words of God. The problem with adding to the scripture is that they are already perfect as is and like you and NephilimFree have done, you've made God seem unjust.

Man has no soul. If man had a soul, the soul would be immortal and cannot be destroyed. Why would man need to fear death if your body dies but your soul lives forever? You would have Conquered death, Correct? Then, why would Jesus need to be murdered and put in the grave for three days (72 hrs), only to be resurrected by the Father (Yahweh) to prove God the Father had the power over death, if you can already conquer death? These is no soul, when you die you sleep until the resurrection!

It says plainly the God formed man from the DUST of the ground, then BREATHED into him the BREATH OF LIFE and man BECAME a living SOUL.
The breath of life is the POWER of GOD, THE HOLY SPIRIT by which all life is sustained.
In job 34 v14,15 it says that if God were to take back his spirit and his breath all flesh would PERISH.

If you are referring to Matthew 10:28 - I'm afraid you're mistaken. The King James Bible [And practically every other version of the Bible] says, "Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can DESTROY BOTH SOUL AND BODY IN HELL."

He still had the same body as prooven by Thomas who saw the wounds.Jesus is still descibed as a "man" 30 years after his ascension to the right hand of God in 1 Tim 2v5.So all this talk of Jesus in and out of different bodies and triune Godhead positions i.e. Immortal then mortal then back to Immortal is pagan metaphysical rubbish.The scriptures know none of it.

Even more interesting is how nobody recognized him(Jesus) by his appearance, each time Jesus appeared in the flesh (became visible) he was never recognized by his appearance. In order for someone to become visible(flesh) they would have to have been invisible(spirit). Jesus went to heaven and it is clear text that only Spirits can enter into the Spiritual realm of heaven.1Corinth 15:20

I also do not find the doctrine of the immortal soul in the Bible. Sir, I believe you meant Ezekiel 18 not Jeremiah 18 regarding "the soul that sins shall die." I just thought I'd let you know. And for others who are still skeptical, read Gen. 3:22 which tells us that Adam and Eve could have lived forever had they not been cut off from the tree of life - even after they sinned. Christ alone has immortality (1 Tim. 6:16) and we seek immortality (Romans 2:7) - we don't already have it.

Well... I don't believe in the doctrine of the immortal soul. Jesus did exist before the New Testament, just not with a human nature (John 1, in the BEGINNING was the Word and the Word was with God and the word was God)

An easy oversite made by most christian readers. There is a big difference in saying Jesus IS the word to saying Jesus is the word MADE flesh or Jesus is the manifestation of the word.
That resposibility is the same for us. We read the word, we believe the word and its manifests itself in our thoughts and behaviour but thats no to say we ARE the word, big difference.
Jesus manifested his FATHER to us also in his actions.

While you are correct in the terminology of the Sole, there is also the Spirit. I don't claim to have the truth but it seems to me if energy is neither created nor destroyed but merely transformed, (as we understand it today) then conscience energy of man must go somewhere. I know I am not my body and suspect that when my body dies along with my memory and personality, the energy of my life goes somewhere. Where, and in what form? I have know idea.
