  • get the fresh 1 from some asian country..then u will taste heaven..

  • durian is the best fruit but it is so expensive i cannot afford much of it... .. it is addicting

  • the fruit beside durian (hairy red fruit) ... called Rambutan .

  • The best durians are the ones with 'orange-yellowish' meat, and they're not supposed to look wet on the outside like in this video. Also, they taste bitter with a tinge of sweetness. Those are the best durians! I'm Singaporean. (;

  • is it spiky fruit night?

  • My dad threw away the knife after he cut one open xD

  • Durian is the "marijuana" of all fruits. You will not like it at 1st or 2nd taste but you will get addicted afterwards. lol

  • the tricks of opening the fruit is to turn the fruit upside down.Look for the core at the centre where there appear to have 4/5 compartment lines.Press down a hard blunt knive right at the centre of the deviding lines and twist the knive the split the fruit. Normaly, fruits with lighter skin will split open quite easily but those with thicker skin need a little bit of force and cutting through accross the deviding lines will open up the fruit nicely.Use thick hand gloves for comfort.

  • I think that is the only "fruit" I have never tried. I like Dragon fruit, woot =D

  • Same! I like the rare and exotic fruits, like star fruit, dragon fruit, etc.

  • open the durian from the bottom of the fruit, thats the easiest way. and from that video that seems not fresh at all. the smell will stay with you for days, it even stays in your urine and faeces.

  • durian is good if you can bypass the smell of it.

  • I love durians! I know that some find it disgusting, but i love it ever since i was like young. But i hate it how it makes your breath and fingers stink.

  • so what's the purpose of it, if it smells and taste bad?

  • so if it taste and smells horrible, what's the purpose of it?

  • It tastes REALLY good, but theirs wasn't fresh.

  • Hahahaha!! Durian is so popular even nobody could give a precise description with the smell and taste of durians!!Well, seriously though, you have to grow up with a durian then you will accept the fruit!

I love the taste, but if I disagreed on the smell--I'd need professional help.

  • durians are the kings of fruit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

im not sure why the west doesnt like the durian

its sweet and rich in tastes

or maybe we are just being exotic

  • "Casey shutup" lol

  • WTF , where are the asian people (x ?

  • It's better fresh. Once you put it in a fridge, it tastes nasty.

  • if u got the fresh... the taste more amazing.. come malaysia and u can eat eat from under tree..!! amazing!!!

    rambutan and durian...!!! wow!

  • i prefer rambutan

  • huh i heard that it taste like cheese

  • oovoo in da background?

  • if this stuff smells so nasty, then why and the heck do people keep on eating it?

  • I'm Asian. My dad's friend opened one at his house, and HOLY CRUD it smelled so disgusting. It smelled so horrible, putrid and repulsive. Can't describe how horrible the smell was...

  • If you are asians! you will like it! because americans don;t have durians farm and its rare but we south east asians are common and theyr delicious! they dont taste lik onion they taste like Soft Sweet Cream! you wont believe it o ya if u buy them off market or supermarket.. make sure you keep them for 1 week in ur house until it smells something good before you eat otherwise it wont taste good

  • oh, haha, it's cute

  • loooooooooool they are so funny u should get the fresh one even its 30$

  • durian taste like a durian. it does not taste like an onion at all.

I love durian season here in Malaysia!

  • The cameraman is a spastic...

  • taste like heaven but smells like shit.

  • Comment removed

  • this fruit is really delicious

here in philippines that is 1 dollar per kilo

  • We Malaysians find the smell very sweet and fruity. And its actually sweet once you get used to it.And I agree to some of the comments that although we think the smell is pleasant, we cant stand the smell nor the taste of blue cheese.

  • fuck durian smell like sewer!! but you taste it ... i'm sure you will begging more to eat it!!

    damn!! i love this fruit!!

  • The smell is ok. But to get the smell out of the car is going to be hell of a problem. Nowadays people are not eating the original. Most durians are manipulated. Durians like d24 etc are all hybirds (I think i spelled it wrong). The original Kampung Durians are still the best!!

  • hybrid ;)

  • lol he dont know how to open it

  • Actually it's only about 10 or something per kg...

  • national geo is totally bsing,it does not cost 50 bucks for a durian fruit.like 5 bucks at worse.

  • some durian variety in Thailand can cost > $100 per fruit

  • Lol I was thinking the exact same thing. 50 bucks my ass.

we dont like the smell of blue cheese

  • asains can eat it and it is good

  • I've lived with this smell to the point where I can't notice it across the room. While people half a kilometre away run up complaining.

  • if you cant smell it once you bring it into your hosue, like no one notices in your family, then its not ripe enough, that means, its not gonna be at its peak of flavour, but man, when it is, its to die for, the best fruit evar

  • Durian cakes is very delicious, i loved it. for me Durian is not really i like, just can eat 1 or 2 slices. i cannot stand the smell, its can stay for 2 days inside our mouth, its terrible.

  • I had the same reaction when I pulled off my wife's panties for the first time.

  • how much was it???

  • Only one dollar.

A lot of asians eat it.

    Go to a supermarket.

  • some cost smell around $50 according to National Geographic

  • singaporeans love this fruit

  • I think it is not stink at all. I would say it is a strong smell( in a good way) Like strong smell of banana. the tast is heaven. In my country- Thailand we said Durian is the king of fruit. You have to try once.

  • fuck your country

  • in vietnam normal durian is about 10 000dong/kg , one dollard is about 18 000 dong so if you have 3 dollard you can "eat until die"- in vietnamese speech. Do you believe - last season i bought it in 2000dong/kg . eating too much durian can make you hot .

  • hey lee,what's a ''dollard''?!

    and what's ''eat until die?''

    seriously you're misleading everyone here..

but i still like them... LOL

S$70 omg! do u really eat a crate of durians? or the expensive ones?

  • oh when it's $70 it's probably the expensive ones, like $10-20 a fruit

i love how the smell wafts up when u open a fruit, it's lovely, and it gets the mouth watering

btw the volume, in cheap styrofoam packet terms, is probably around 4-5 packets. most probably around the $20 range
