yes, you are right Mevlana born in Afghanistan, anyway it wasn't necessary to say it... everybody knows it; anyway he spent in Konya(Turkey) the most of his life. Adding that comment you showed that you didn't understand anything of his philosofhy...
"Come, come whatever you are, it doesn't matter
Whether you are an infidel, an idolater or a fire-worshiper,
Mevlana was born in Balkh(Greater Korasan) and he belongs to Iranians,Afghans and Tajiks. His poems are all in persian. One thing for sure : HE IS NOT TURKISH
Well, look on the bright side. This is from his poem, written himself, original edition: Aslen Türkest egerçi Hindu guyem - Which means, even though i speak/say/use Persian language, i am Turkish. (Now, he was not saying literally, i am Turkish, he was saying i embrace Turkish culture and i see myself one, i am proud to say i am Turkish.) So, what is the problem again?
CrazyHarpoon, Mevlana was not born in Konya. Konya was his adopted home, his family fled the Mongol Invasion when he was a child, leaving the city of Balkh in Northern Afghanistan. Before the Mongol invasion Balkh was one of the largest cities in the Islamic world, afterwards it was a heap of rubble.

Kim olursan ol... yine gel.
Come, come again, whoever you are, come!
Heathen, fire worshipper or idolatrous, come!
Come even if you brok your penitence a hundred times,
Ours is the portal of hope, come as you are.
