nice but is it a gallon or more of water and be careful of plactic plants can harm fins. Ideal temp is 75-80 degrees. sweet spot for temp is 78-80 degrees. They are good jumpers, can jump upto 4 inches. really not enough space for your fish. one gallon or more for one fish. Not enought space for him to turn around in. thats like living in a tall skinny room. vases are on not a good tank...
I'm kind of astounded that anyone would keep a fish in a container with such little lateral space. This is like a person living in a closet that has walls 5 stories tall. Just because it's tall doesn't mean it makes up for the fact that the first can literally hardly turn around.
I assume you've just never seen the beauty of a betta zipping across its aquarium. Otherwise I am baffled to see that you find this to be ok.
@LukeKoman if he or she changes it once a week and he keep water room temp u dont need it tanks can be easier to manage got my heater set up the other day got 3 females in a 10 gallon tank
@TheBettalover123 No. Room temperature is NOT ok for bettas. They are tropical fish, and actually like their water WARMER than other tropicals. 80 F is the perfect temperature for them, so unless your room temperature is like 85, a heater most certainly IS needed.

@TheBettalover123 I assume you get your information from Wal-Mart or pet store employees since you seem so intent upon remaining ill-informed and condoning the abuse and torture of fish. Betta lover my fucking ass. Sure, bettas live a few years in an unheated bowl, but that's just a testament to their hardiness. Because in ideal conditions they are VERY active, colorful, and live upwards of 10 years. People who are like "my betta lived 3 years in a bowl" make me sick.
@TheBettalover123 That is like saying, "my kid lived 14 years living in our closet! Yay!" Just because they can SURVIVE (not thrive) in a certain environment doesn't mean it's ok to force them to live that way year after year.
I have the same tank! LIKE EXACTLY THE SAME!!! My betta loves the tank, but i feel my betta needs more space. I'm upgrading mine to a 2 gallon tropical fish tank. It has a light that warms the water! It also has a filter but i'm scared it might be too strong :/
I recommend that you only fill the glass half way cuz your fish could jump out. btw, He's so beautiful!!!
Wow. Smart idea for that betta food. i bought the same kind the other day for my new betta and was surprised by how huge it is. I didnt think I could use it because I didnt think they'd be able to swallow it. .I'll just crush it :) smart thinkin.
very beutiful betta! looks like a Doubletail of some sort. though, the size of that bowl concerns me a bit. it looks too tall, bettas love longer spaces, rather than taller. he looked to struggle a bit to get up to the top. if you want a pretty tank to sit by your laptop, try one of the Hawkeye AquaView 360 Aquarium 2 or 3 gallons. i have one for my baby, and she loves it. and, it has lights that you can change the color of! also, a heater would make him happier!
@Luimeril he's a double tail plakat. i've had him for 1 year and a half now. & thanks for your suggestions! :D & yeah he was kinda hyper i just changed his water thats why...
i LOVE doubletails! i've been trying to get one for a while. special ordered some DT halfmoons from my local pet store, but they end up being all ratty-looking when they come in. poor darlings won't be sold like that.
i love my AquaView! Chappy, my baby Halfmoon Plakat dragon girl, loves it. she hides in her java moss, or chills near her heater. she's really active!

Some bettas are actually happy in a bowl.
BettaAndHorses4Ever 8 months ago
@PinkPolkaify that isn't a bowl its a VASE! and vases make good tanks as long as they aren't too high with the water levels.
