this match proved two things. 1. misawa may be limited, but when it is time to step up, he can hang with the best of them. legend for a reason. 2. takeshi is a fuckin beast.
so much respect for these guys they put their bodies through hell and take stiff shots along with insane bumps morishima is my favorite strongstyle wrestler of all time he dosent do anthing flashy he just beats the hell out of people and Misawa can go down as one of the best of all time he died doing what he loved it goes to show you that you dont need to be a roided out 6 ft 5 tan bodybuilder to be a great wrestler
@caldwell1966 That's because in Japan the audience is respectful. They treat it as a theater. In a theater, you wouldn't stand up and yell, "You fucked up!" would you?
@J0EKICKASS Pretty sure Rhodes wouldn't mind putting Misawa over, win or not. It's Misawa. Everyone recognizes(in a you-betta-recognize sense of the word).
I'd ALWAYS rather see a match end by elbows than with a 619 or a "Worm". Still, always better to win with some sort of driver. Not complaining, though. Good match.
A botched belly to back suplex damaged his spinal cord killing him. Very sad. Just imagine if something like that during the main event at a Wrestlemania. The talk shows would go nuts!!
that Tiger Bomb Misawa does off the ring apron is fucking savage! Morishima is one of the toughest guys I've ever seen in the ring. BACK DROP DRIVER!!!
Morishima lost a squash match against Charlie Haas. He's not going to be in WWE becuase rumorrs say Vince thinks he's too fat and can't speak english.
It doesn't matter how good they are to Vince.
Aww well, WWE titles are toys and the company is a circus anyway.
Well, you could easily stick a manager or vallet with him to help him with mic skills. However apparently the only way they were going to use him is a typcial U.S.A. vs Japan storyline with John Cena.
oh i thought he had a deal that said he could not lose a dark match also it is only a damn dark match jeez don't get a seizure plus he probably never be on tv for WWE if so that would be awesome but you act as if Wang do not deserve a win got damn do you realize how long he has been jobbing.
Reminds me of when ECW made it to national TV.Here comes ROH with a national TV deal and a lot of the top stars are gone now or might be soon.ECW had their best booker but like TNA Spike/TNN controlled too much of the booking.ROH has lost their best booker all together and will go on with their curent product.Morishima should stay with ROH, even though I have also heard he wants to go to WWE(for what?)
Japanese Greg "The Hammer" Valentine VS. Japanese Honky Tonk Man! I'm sure I'll catch heat for this comment for being "disrespectful," but I couldn't pass it up...too funny.
I once saw Morishima do 2 cartwheels into a corner splash when he was wrestling in ROH. He's 1 of those wrestlers who can pull off a surprise when he needs to, like Kane or Samoa Joe (who are both capable of pulling off hurricanranas)
Wow! That was a freakin' match! Hope TNA and WWE are taking notes! 100% agree with Manny Biggz that striking blows make very "legit" finishers. The last 3 minutes of that match were better than anything I've seen in a while. Great pacing, back and forth and a fantastic finish. The way a match should be worked.
A elbow smash can be a more the legitimate way to finish a match. In Japan, they treat striking moves the way they were meant to be treated. Elbows are one of the hardest parts of our body. I see nothing wrong with pinning someone after a flurry of elbows to someone's head. You're supposed to consider the concept of the moves after all.
I'm not big on puro, but I enjoy Morishimas work. Having said that, I can't stand Misawa. I respect what he's done but no part of him appeals to me. That and the fact that he couldn't sell ointment in a burn ward. He just flat out is not what he used to be. He got passed by in athleticism and I dont think has ever been charismatic. Just my opinion though I'm sure someone will tell me how stupid and wrong I am.
"I'm sure someone will tell me how stupid and wrong i am" well, you did post your thoughts on the internet, isn't that SUPPOSED to happen??? I haven't watched a Misawa match in years but you're right, he was never too charismatic, it was more of a "fighters spirit" sort of thing...
you see this vince this is wrestling fuck wwe they only have good matches occasionally ex benoit vs angle japan wrestling roh and other indys are REAL WRESTLING
Morishima is an impressive up an comer. Sadly, Misawa just isnt the top anymore. His match with Samoa Joe was slow as hell ;/ I'd love to see Misawa vs Kobashi one more time before he retires =D
It's funny how veterans in Japan are still cheered like crazy not because of their name only but because they still got "it". But the veterans here in America, not really cheered for their skill. Sad how wrestling is here in America compared to Japan.
to narrow it down a little more, sports entertainment is a joke. there is good american wrestling, just rarely on tv... and almost never in a McMahon owned ring.
Incredible. Whoever says the Japanese wrestling is boring is just plain ignorant and is not a true wrestling fan. NOAH is a phenomenal promotion. Thank the good Lord above for Puroresu.
Misawa coming to RoH is coll and all but the thing is that I would rather watch him fight some RoH wrestler rather than a NOAH guy.KENTA vs Misawa can take place in Japan anytime, but something like Claudio vs Misawa would be awesome.I know that Double C isnt a Misawa by any stretch of imagination, but I guess it would be better for wrestling as a whole.
Take the Elbow Smash. It is a Finisher of Misawa, but in Japan Finisher were used more often than in the US. Otherwise, the Big Japanese Wrestlers have a second finisher, which they do not show very often, like Misawa's Emerald Frosion. After that move, the match is over surely.
In the USA you have the finisher, often, this one is just one time in a match, perhaps two times. I hope I could explain the difference.
Misawa's Elbow is his Finisher/ Signature, but not the main one.
i get what your saying. what i was saying was that misawas elbows smash is like a move hes well know for like flair has the chops and hogan has the big leg.. I wasnt talking about finishers
What's all this shit about him not earning the ROH title. What does earning have 2 do with anything? When you stop thinking like a smark and take him for what he really is... A MONSTER. Winning the title makes perfect sense. He didn't need a push in NOAH then... it'll come. Kobashi lost his first 63 singles matches. These things take time. I reckon he'll beat Kobashi for the title by the end of the year... or next year. Oh and his hair/body rules. It's all Morishima baby!
I love the way how NOAH wrestlers are able to use that wonderful outside environment to pull cool moves of. It's like that outside was build that way so more moves can be utilized with it.
Can someone tell if if Morishima has a bleeding problem from his nose? Or did he break his nose before? I have seen numerouse matches in which he keeps getting nosebleeds.
Oh My freakin' God!! all that buildup at the und for the most stupidest finisher ever!!! that's japan for ya!! It makes sense in real life but this is wrestling and that was lame.
I know that's why I said " It makes sense in real life". That would very rarely happern in American Main stream(they'd have a big finisher or a stolen victory). Amen, I mean yeah Homicide wasn't gunna be champ long but least Homicide actualy earned it wear as Morhima didn't, in ROH anyway...& as i said before I don't see what the hype is about in'em, just looks like NOAH version of Samoa Joe (who isn't any better talent wise) to me
that was a pretty nice match. Now I'm definitely sure I like Morishima. He's got some great power. He just needs a new move or two. I've never seen Misawa get that pissed before either, reminds me of Takayama's knees.
Haven't thought much of Morishima until this match. Changed my opinion of him entirely. He needs a new look though, that hair is a bit girly. It makes him less credible. Not to be awful but he also needs a champion's body. A few hours on a treadmill.
Misawa rulez no doub about it but this matches wasn't all that good tbh & maybie I'm seeing the wrong match or he's just over hyped but i didn't see anything special from Morishima
This match isn't THAT amazing in my opinion. It is still great though but I have seen better form both of these guys. I found soem of the spots were sloppy and it is the first Tiger Driver that I didn't enjoy looking at. All the striking moves were dead on though but there slams and grapples seemed a bit off. The ending was great though. I love the idea of just eblowing your opponent until they can't get up.

misawas forearms are like his main thing. Its like 70 percent of his offense. its like this. Hogan has the big leg drop. misawa has the forarm
supremeDestro 4 years ago
I think a better comparison would be Ric Flair's chops.
Meteora2004 4 years ago
i agree. But the point i was tryin to make was misawa s forearms are his thing like hogan has the leg drop and like how flair has the chops.
supremeDestro 4 years ago
Well, there a big different between that, what you would call in the US a Finisher and what it is in Japan.
Imgonnabeat 4 years ago
Take the Elbow Smash. It is a Finisher of Misawa, but in Japan Finisher were used more often than in the US. Otherwise, the Big Japanese Wrestlers have a second finisher, which they do not show very often, like Misawa's Emerald Frosion. After that move, the match is over surely.
In the USA you have the finisher, often, this one is just one time in a match, perhaps two times. I hope I could explain the difference.
Misawa's Elbow is his Finisher/ Signature, but not the main one.

piledrivers, & backdrops.

This man should not be RoH Champion.

Why not.

Why not, to what why Morishima shouldn't be ROH champ or why wasn't Homicide gunna be ROH champ that long?

that was a pretty nice match.

It's all part of Morishima's charm. He shouldn't change...

Morishima is awesome, his matchs in ROH are what got me interested in NOAH. That and Go Shiozaki!

Misawa rulez no doub about it but this matches wasn't all that good tbh & maybie I'm seeing the wrong match or he's just over hyped but i didn't see anything special from Morishima

That was a great match and the elbows of Misawa was crazy.

i didn't really like that match, even though I think Morishima is great.

Haven't seen that kind of fire from Misawa in a while.

Awesome match. Morishima is much better than Rikio.

I would've hated if Morishma won, that tiger driver off the apron was crazy. That match was the epitamy of stiff.

great match.
Morishima is really good and has what it takes to go very far in puroresu.
I can't believe that Misawa just elbowed him untill he could not get up anymore.
