HOW could you have such fantastic actors as Boris Karloff, Christopher Lee and Barbara Steele and make such an awful movie? WHY would they agree to make such a boring movie? WHO can watch this crap without falling asleep?
@casestudyification -- Horror films in the 60s-70s often had title changes between the UK, US, and rest of Europe. The original UK title was Curse of the Crimson Altar, later shortened to The Crimson Altar. The US release was The Crimson Cult. Another example: the UK film Witchfinder General was released in the US as The Conqueror Worm because Poe-inspired horror films were popular then.
i'm trying to find a movie made in 1969 or 1968 about vampires out in a desert with a song in it that went "fly me to the moon" and an african american guy was the lead actor in it and there were no fangs in the movie.
been trying to find the name of this movie for a long time.
@The096757 -- Doesn't sound familiar. The only desert-based vampire movie I've seen is The Velvet Vampire (1971) - complete film can be seen on YouTube. Try emailing one of the many hard core horror fans with their own vampire-themed websites for more info.
I love this movie! The costumes are great! The acting is awesome and it features a few of my favorite actors (Boris Karloff ,Christopher Lee, Barbara Steele ).I like Mark Eden as well.Virginia Wetherell is beautiful! You would not believe how good the music score ( Peter Knight) in this movie sounds through a vacuum tube hiFi with big speakers! It is amazing!
michael gough always overacts.

Why do some movies have several different titles? (This is also known as the "Crimson Cult".)
