  • its like royce gracie all over again except better !!! .

  • Demian is the best!

  • Article about demian maia plus Demian Maia gear at:

    jiu-jitsutechniquesDOTcom/brazilian-jiu-jitsu-master-demian-maia/

  • il est de quel origine se mec je le connais pas?

  • @oneyakuza Brazil

  • The best jiu-jitsu fighter nowadays!

  • it's weird seeing someone fight with a shirt on!

  • maia is the man . he is the next champion .

  • sick

  • cool submission artist

  • WHO DOES NOT LIKE THIS IS BC U DONT UNDERSTAND ( bjj ) I KNOW DEMIAN MAIA SINCE HE WAS A BLUE BELT.....AND HE DESERVE TO BE, WHERE HE IS...... AND HE WILL ONE DAY HOLD THAT UFC BELT..........

    GOOD LUCK TO YALL

  • Demian Maia is better than you!

  • Maia has been ducking Lesnar for years

  • @jimmicrackhead12 lesnar hasnt been in the sport for that long and is in a diff weight class....

  • @videowatchinguy nah, bjj guys can go well against wrestlers

  • @jimmicrackhead12 i agree, but how has he been ducking him. that doesnt make any sense

  • @jimmicrackhead12

    fuck up fagit cunt

  • @bkselect no thanks

  • @jimmicrackhead12 your an idiot

  • @ChistaEnjoi yes

  • ANDERSON SILVA!!!!!!!!! BRASIL!!!!!

  • His jiu jitsu will always b remembered. He is a badass

  • You should update this video with some of his more recent fights. Particularly the one against Anderson Silva.

  • demian maia is one of my favorite fighters out there and is my favorite middleweight

  • Love watching maia.

  • hey. can you give me that vidoeo??? :)

  • he looks like murilo bustamante

  • annoying music?bah...parabens Demian!

  • his bjj its great !!

  • Why the annoying music ???

  • @fatestbastard Annoying? Yeah! Should put lady gaga....you prick

  • I think only two guys right now can really beat Anderson in the middleweight division, in my opinion-Belfort could, because he moves too fast for even Anderson to avoid (but the injury might change that).

Maia perhaps has a better ground game than Silva simply because he USES it more often. Seriously: when was the last time you saw Anderson go to the ground by his own choice? Most of the time he rocks someone and finishes the fight.

  • i really like this guy,but i dont think he will be able to take anderson to the ground!

silva is too good, takedown defance and everything

    not to mention his striking

  • i hope he beats the living shit out of anderson.

  • @SullenMorbius so do i but hw wont :/

  • his jiujitsu is very impressive but he is definitely not beating Anderson Silva

  • yea slim to none and im afraid slim just left town. this montage is pathetic and he is going to be on one of silvas highlight reals soon lol

  • 5 / 5 FUCKING RIGHT

    MAIA FTW

  • yeah if it's someone that can beat the Spider it be someone with exceptional ground game like Demien. however, he has to be able to catch the Spider though and the chances for that to happen is slim.

  • whats the song called?

  • @rikukorpelainen bitterusso champagne-the band is o rappa

  • WTFFFF this douch is getting a title shot r u fucking serious Dana White his fight at UFC 109 was boring as shit hardly impressive Silva is gonna kill him

  • Belfort's shoulder is broken and both Marquart and Miller lost. Shonnan has been medically forbidden to compete. Who the hell else should get it. Just because he's the #2 contender, doesn't mean he's not in contention. Silva's loses have been to grapplers. You can at least give Maia SOME slack. Whte too while your at it. Who the hell else should get it?

  • His fights at 95, 91, 87, 83 and 77 were all sweet submissions. So what's your point? If you don't appreciate the grappling game, go watch boxing.

  • @bradman83 grappling is definetly more usefull than striking but striking is definetly a key element in martial arts

  • @bradman83 As his fight with Anderson Silva showed its not all about grappling in MMA... So what do you want to watch?

  • @bradman83 totally agreed.. ppl who don't like to see "two gays lying on each other" should go back and watch boxing, kickboxing, k1 etc.

  • @bradman83 thumbs up times 10 mate i come from a traditional tae kwon-do base not the sport side mma is the best cos of the variety of attack allows so many different out comes of the fight and they need to work on being able to defend against them and use a guard and stance that can defend against them unlike the boxers guard and stance which is good for defending punches but with ur feet that close u get take downed easier and if the other mate has some decent kicks that guard wont safe either

  • Perfeuta combinação entre o conteudo do video e a trilha sonora...

    video muito show !!!

  • Okay let's end it HERE, once and for all:

Is Maia a top tier fighter? ABSOLUTELY!

Did Marquardt KO him with ONE PUNCH? YES!

Was it a lucky punch? MAYBE.

Can ANY fighter be beaten at ANY time? YES!

People, THAT'S why we have the fights, because one day you are King of the mountain, and the next, someone knock you down. Almost every fighter loses at least once. Maia will be back, and more dangerous than every.

I felt Marquardt would beat him, didn't expect it to be one punch.

  • you gotta be good to be lucky...

  • Not necessarily, but I would agree in Marquardt's case. BTW I think he was ROBBED last night!

  • u really think marquardt won the sonnen fight? are you blind?

  • not even close....

  • what song is this?? its sickkk

  • o rappa - bitterusso champagne

  • em breve sera o numero 1

  • true but he wouldnt be able to do that to mike tyson hes too slow and wide open and flat footed randys only boxing experience is amatuer smokers

  • chuck liddels stand up is not very good

  • um...ru serious? he did ko randy cotoure twice

  • i made a new account and i decided to show people wat mma is all about. i am a boxer and a juijitsu white belt, im going to give people a chance to see me grow as a mixed martial artist. ill be bloging and posting my training sessions and tournements, come subscribe and watch me grow as a person, watch me grow as a mixed martial artist with Renzo Gracie and Gleasons boxing gym."

  • artisr "O Rappa"

    song "Biterrusso Champagne"

  • hmm its missing the highlight of him getting KTFO!!! mabey he should learn some stand up, then again I really enjoyed watching him get pwned.

  • you are a fucking moron.

"maybe he should learn some stand up"

being caught in one punch doesnt mean you dont know any stand up

my god the amount of fucking morons on the internet and that watch the ufc is really dissapointing.

how about not be another wwe mongloid fuckwad and actually train instead of commenting on ACCOMPLISHED WORLD REKNOWN fighters thinking you know what the fuck you are talking about when in reality you dont have the slightest fucking clue.

  • wow moneroner that was intense lol

  • yea do bad the fights don't start on the ground maia would of won if they did lol

  • chuck lidell got knocked out with 1 punch, does that mean he has no stand-up? Demian Maia is a boss and u should give him some respect

  • @Lukemiaful Chuck Lidell is an old man... I'd like to see him in his prime fight Maia... And his "stand-up" was shown in his fight with Anderson Silva

  • "mabey he should learn some stand up" !?!?!

damien maia would break your two arms and legs and fold them into your ass before choking you out, waiting you to wake up and then choke you out again the whole day untill he gets bored and does the same with EVERYBODY of your friends ... hahah a guy thats listening to rihanna and akon is trying to tell us something about fighting !

  • @yunuscuk he should learn standup. If he improved that he would be close to unstoppable.

  • he is learning stand up if u follew wandelei's blog u'll see him training stand all the time.

  • @hahafuto of course he's training stand up every fighter does that doesn't mean he's top teir at it. There's always room for improvement.

If he had the striking of BJ penn or St. Pierre he would dominate this division.

  • i was heard that Damian was an exceptional technician but your video only shows his ground and pound.

  • he is exceptional, this vid sucks, watch his ufc fights, i bet he could submit anyone in the ufc :)

  • YOU ARE RIGHT!!!!!

  • what is the name of this song?

  • what is the name of the song?

  • I think Marquardt will do better this time. He supposedly has stepped up his training since thier first fight and it shows. Maia has the best BJJ in the game right now but his stand-up is leaps and bounds from top tier guys.

  • Once He Learns Better Standup Defense Everyone in that weight class is fucked

  • lmao yeah man, i hate how the UFC gives these guys so little to prepare for these important fights! But no excuses Maia should of took it to the ground at all costs i believe he was trying to prove some kind of point by standing but in MMA proving a point can cost you the fight.

  • Yeah but most MMA fighters train year round anyways and if they dont they should thats their profession

  • yeah i suppose your right, but you have to agree if he could raise all his other skills he'd be something to reckon with. i really wanted this guy to beat A. Silva. Silva is so cocky and Maia is so humble it'd be great. I mean i know Marquadrt is gonna lose (again) if he gets a shot a Silva.

  • I disagree Silva is very humble and he is a killer but Marquardt might give Silva a good fight.

  • Nah man, if you watch Silvas fights in Prid FC, he das a too confident approach about him, i disliked that. Nah i doubt it dude Marquardt is at the same level BJJ as SIlva. Maia is higher than Silvas. Silvas weak point is BJJ. Not saying BJJ is weak but its not at the level Maias is.

  • exactly. that is why I think Maia is the only guy left who can maybe defeat silva

  • I agree. he is the one guy who stands a chance, the marquardt knock out with standing.

  • fuck! damn man, f that. he's not just hype dude, his jits is the best, he'll bounce back his stand up needs major work though he shouldnt have tried to strike with marquadrt.

  • Prediction... Miaia Sub of the night , 1st round Sub!!! Godspeed Maia and Jardine!!!

  • Good Luck Damien Maia Make That Bitch Ass Faint!!!!!!!

  • maia is the answer needed for us to see someone beat silva. If he can close that distance, silva will lose. Maia has to get by Nate the great first tho.

  • its true, and if maia gets him on the ground hes absolutely done...im thinking itll probably end in a submission, unless theres a KO ;)

  • I hear this guy will get a title shot against Anderson Silva is he beats Marquardt.

  • i thot he won all fights via sub?

y is he tko ing ppl here

  • I seriously can't wait for this hype train to crash...Maia is way too one dimentional to even be considered as champ material. Marquard is going to keep him standing and out strike him with ease, he's too strong and athletic for Maia.

  • I cant wait to see what you have to say in about 3 days

  • Well I hate to say I told you so but...I TOLD YOU SO ROFL!!!

    KTFO in 27 secs.

  • maia better get a fukin title shot. he pproved to every1 that hes worthy to fight fight silva

  • meh...I dont think anyone really has a chance. juijitsu is impressive but silvas is unstoppable. we saw him and thales fight and Silva wouldnt go to the ground, if Maia trys to stand with him he will get dropped. Always nice to watch silva fight though.

  • COOL VIDEO

  • I really hope he beats Marquardt.Should be an interesting fight for sure

  • What song is that?? i like it..

  • If he can beat Marquardt his chance to beat Spider raises a lot. He can submit stronger and bigger fighter. On stand up he has no chance with Anderson Spider but if he could take the fight to the ground he have the skill to submit him.

  • he does but remember anderson silva is a bjj black belt under the noguera brothers is not an easy task

  • the song is bitterusso champagne from o rappa

  • Im sorry Maia has great BJJ but it will take more than that to beat Silva. Im not 100% sure he will get past Marqurdt who is a big strong well rounded middleweight.

  • Whew! Luckily for Maia, he has great wrestling, throws and ability to pull guard too! (By the way, this is very relevant because he can utilize all of these abilties to drag people into a ground match with him.)

He's never had a problem getting a fight to the ground and I don't see it being a problem against Marquardt or Silva.

  • I agree that Maia grappling the best but he will need more than that to beat Silva. Marquardt is pretty well rounded himself so this fight will answer all the questions. Because it will see how Maia will react when he gets punched in the face.

  • "Maia grappling the best but he will need more than that to beat Silva."

Couldn't I just as easily say, "Silva's striking is the best but he will need more than that to beat Maia"?

Silva's well-rounded but being great on the ground means nothing when you go up against THE greatest. Just look at Penn vs. Florian. Penn is the best at BJJ in the LW division and Florian is one of the best. Obviously that didn't mean much for Florian. Trust me, Maia's on another level than Silva in BJJ.

  • yea but Florian is no Silva, but Silva is more well rounded than Maia. I give Maia a good chance but I want to see how he would take a punch. His past opponents weren't on Silvas level so his fight with Marquardt will answer all questions.

  • My point about Florian is that he has world-class BJJ and he's ended half of his pro fights in submission, yet his BJJ isn't on Penn's level. Anderson Silva has great BJJ but if he gets taken to the ground by Maia, he will find out who has the greatest.

As certain as I am that Silva and Marquardt would win standing, I am certain Maia would win on the ground. But I'll just drive the point home one more time for you: Maia knows how to get people on the ground.

  • Same way for Maia if he gets hit it's over for him. I will tell you like I told you once before we will see if Maia hype is for real once he fights a well rounded fighter all questions will be answered if he beat Marquardt.

  • its a different situation tho, yes he's much better than anderson on the ground, but silva is still a black belt... and seems fairly comfortable in that position (yes i agree he hasnt been tested tho). Maia on the other hand has absolutely no standup at all, and hes facing a guy whos become known as the best of all time because of his ability to keep it standing.. maia could definitely be a title contender, but lets wait n c how he responds to getting punched in the face by nate b4 we say 2 much

  • totally agree about anderson silva think he will rape maia on the feet but tbh maia has no need to work hard on jiu-jitsu he can focus on the stand up, just needs to defend, and wait for nate to unload, look for the opening and attack with take downs and punches.

  • Marquardt is great, but I guarantee Maia will be the heavy odds favorite and will submit Marquardt. But i disagree with you about no standup. Sure he is not like silva, BUT WHO IS? He has a karate and judo background. He is not Machida but he certainly not Noguiera. Noguiera is the guy with no stand up.

  • I guess we will just have 2 wait n c. nogueira's standup is poor yes, but hes got a hell of a chin which is something maia hasnt had tested yet and will have 2 be good 2 face sum1 like silva cause hes gonna take some hits. This fight with nate will be a huge test of his mettle

  • yeah his standup was displayed perfectly against nate :D haha great ko

  • have u seen maia lately hes bulked up and has been woring on his striing with vandy silva :D

  • How do you know he dosent have any stand up? Just because he hasnt needed to use it dosent mean its not there.

  • ppl said the same about leites and look wat happened there.. seems to me ur underestimating silva's skill, and overestimating maia's. Put it this way, dan henderson, an OLYMPIC WRESTLER had trouble getting silva down, and wasnt able to do any damage when he did. If silva fights maia soon it'll be like the forrest griffin fight all over again

  • Thales Leites isn't as good as Maia at BJJ, has no balls, has no ability to take people to the ground and he doesn't put together gameplans like Maia.

I'm not underestimating Silva's skills, I just think his ground game - which is great - would be exposed by an even better ground expert. No one ever seems address this issue when I bring it up but it's scary how EASILY Maia can pull guard. Forget his excellent throws and excellent wrestling (which Leites doesn't have), he can just pull guard.

  • if nate can ko maia that easily, imagine what anderson would do to him. people dont seem to realise how hard it is to develop a good standup game

  • Maia has a chance but I think it takes more then bjj to beat Silva.

  • maia vs anderson!!

  • whats the name of this song?

  • whats the name of this song?

  • Demian keep doing what your doing you are one of the elite ground games in UFC youre by far my fav. fighter

  • if he beats nate marquardt, he should get the title shot! as good as nate is, i dont think he will get passed Maia

  • if he beats nate i think he is fighting Henderson and if he wins that title fight :D that's what Dnaa White said anyways

  • no Henderson is fighting anderson silva next...thats a fact! and im very sure that the winner of this fight (nate vs miai) would fight the winner of silva vs hendo

  • hes good, but not good enough for anderson silva.

if they fought, it would be a nother one of those boring leitis vs silva.

i dont think maias take down offense is that strong.

  • wrong. maia is an under rated striker and would push the fight on silva. silva would still win, ko prolly

  • I could be wrong, but I think Demian Maia is the next best thing. See what Joe Rogan thinks, he is about the most accurate when it comes to predicting fights and he has a lot to say about Maia!

  • the song is bitterusso champagne..the group is o rappa..easy no?

  • thanks you are the man i think o rappa just got a new fan!!!

  • wHEY DOES ANYONE KNOW WHO THIS SONG IS BY ITS BADASS!!!! PLEASE LET ME KNOW THANKS.

  • Marquart is gonna bull rush his guy...

    Bub By Maia

  • marquart def has the power in his standup to ko maia if he does a mistake but i agree if it goes to the ground then maia will end up with his 5 is it or 6th sub in a row

  • My one probnlem with Maia is that he has a very traditional style of BJJ, albiet a VERY VERY good version of it, but in my opin. it is very predictible. But he can prove me wrong, if he subs Nate the Great I'll be behind him 100%.... maybe 90%

  • To say that is actually more a credit to him, don't you think? He's not doing a lot of tricky, gimmicky stuff out there. Having some crazy techniques is cool, but what really wins fights, especially at that high of a level? Just doing the basics better than anyone on the planet.

  • Marquardt doesnt stand a snow balls chance in hell against this guy. This fight will end quick!

  • Maia is not gonna be able tp get him to the ground, so how can he win?

  • Anybody can be taken down, anyway the object is not necessarily to take him down but to pull guard. Marquardt is not even in the same league as Maia.

  • make sure you reply to this when maia gets destroyed by nate haha ... he'll never get it to the groung and he'll get knocked out long before. Nate is too big and talented.

  • I'll be sure to respond when he beats Marquardt. Make sure YOU are here when Marquardt loses.

Marquardt is too big? Really? Did you really just say that? Watch the video above. He's beaten Gabriel Gonzaga three times in BJJ and he's WAY bigger than Marquardt. I know that BJJ, but where else will strength be a problem in a fight besides grappling?

Too talented? That's actually funny. Maia may be the best all-around grappler in MMA. And I hate to tell you, Marquardt is primarily a grappler.

  • mate, facing some1 in bjj is NOTHING like facing them in mma, size and power plays a huge difference when a mix of striking and grappling is involved. I do believe he is the best submission arist in the game 2day, and dont discount him 4 that, but bjj players are notoriously weak on their takedowns in comparison to wrestlers. I think he'll just get worn down by nate and either lose by tko or points... but hes definitely a huge prospect 4 the future if he learns how 2 stike..

  • "bjj players are notoriously weak on their takedowns in comparison to wrestlers"

I agree that BJJ players are TYPICALLY bad at takedowns but Maia's scary because he does have takedowns and wrestling. He tossed Chael Sonnen, a decorated wrestler, like nothing. He pulled guard against Chael Sonnen no problem. Maia may well be one of the best wrestlers in MMA but because he's known as a BJJ guy, nobody seems to notice. He'll expose Marquardt's ground game in fantastic fashion, then you'll see.

  • Ya I agree. But BJJ guys are also Judo practitioners which have takedown abilities. But not like these iowa wrestlers, your are right about that.

  • well we all agreed Maia had great BJJ but I said before it is gonna take more than BJJ to be good in MMA especially agaist a well rounded fighter. Nate knocked him out in 21 seconds.

  • first time ive seen a person fight in a t-shirt in a long while lol

  • Best jiu jitsu practicioner ever

  • I think it's safe to say that Maia has the best BJJ in the middleweight division, but his striking needs work or he could be in trouble come UFC 102 in his bout against Nate Marquardt. Of course, if the fight ends up on the ground, Nate will likely be submitted.

  • vargr, i wanna see a rematch of maia vs okami again since they both did a stalemate at adcc eventhough maia won...

  • great video awesome song MAIA RULES!!!!!

  • future ufc champ

  • good song..

  • 2:16 Beautiful.

  • i kinda like 3:17 better

  • i think hes taking the title from anderson

  • agreed

  • Its going to be REALLY hard for Anderson to submit this guy.

  • Ed Soares talked some shit on the last episode of inside MMA. He said that they want good all around fighter for Anderson to make a good fight. Thats bullshit, Silva couldnt finish Leites and he is scared to engage against very good grappler. If the fight would go to the ground against Maia, it would be over.

  • Music fits perfectly. What is it?

  • o rappa-bitteruso champagne

  • that will never happen demian maia is the jiu jitsu king, silva's takedown defense isn't gonna work even if he pratices on it for years maia's bjj technique is to awsome and silva's gonna find himself in a web of his own with maia's brilliance

  • Yeah maia technique is outstanding on the floor, but will he be able to cope in the stand up?

I wanna se this match up, it should be a crazy match

  • he won't have to, his takedowns whether it be lower or upper body, throws, and his ability to pull guard is to dominant for anyone hu's jiu jitsu isn't up to where his is, and being how sucky silva is on the ground it will be a short night watching him go to sleep

  • I read that silva is goin to fight forrest griffin in the summer in 205, but i hope he fights maia before he retires. Maia has crazy skills well i dont have to tell you that, but anyone can have a bad day, we will have to wait and see

  • I've never seen this guy until I saw him two days ago in UFC highlights, just from that I can see his brilliance. This guy's movement is like a snake or invertibrate who has no back bone. The most fluid bjj movement I've ever seen hands down!

  • I dont know why the fuck the UFC proclaim Leites a "jiujitsu ACE" for ufc 97 Fuck that the guy's bjj is nothing impressive he might have the titles hes never show those skills as Maia has and fought like a bitch against Silva he didnt even tried to throw a punch. I dont know why he got the title shot anyway.
