Thanks for making this record available. I have known for some time that this song was the work of Vern Partlow (1910-1987), a distant cousin of mine, and I have always wanted to hear it played. Very witting and biting in its commentary.
Google "conelrad atomic cafe" for info about an obscure LP containing this and about 15 other similar atomic hits from the 50s... Its great background music when playing Fallout3!
Ozie Waters was a Colorado musician in the 1940's and 1950's. His band the Colorado Rangers played at the first Elizabeth Colorado Stampede Rodeo dance in 1952. He also had a TV show for children that aired in the early 50's.
If you goggle him there is several articles about him, and he also was in many B Westerns of the time.
This song was banned from the radio in 1950.
I found him interesting because my band the Calf Branders played during the Elizabeth Rodeo in 2009.

I use an old GE VR II with a 3 mil conical tip diamond stylus. This cartridge and stylus were designed for 78 rpm records. Allows the needle to vibrate back and forth but has a rubber bumper that inhibits up and down movement (channel 2 on a stereo record, pure hiss and static on a mono 78). Also has good amplification, meaning there is no pre-amp required. Mine came in an old $2.50 record player from a garage sale. Usually, they're about $100 or so if you can find one.
This sounds like the kind of song Steve Martin would do, wonder if he got the idea for HIS material from a song like THIS. Even the voice sound a bit like Steve's,
and the style of vocal delivery is IDENTICAL ! ! ! !
The Golden Gate Quartet recorded a song called "Atom and Evil" on 5 June 1946 and issued as Columbia 37236. That one is worth checking out. Thanks for sharing this oddity.

This might have been better received if it were hip hopped.
