@sidswitz I agree I was hoping to show my daughter good mechanics of throwing and only one girl was even close[the 2nd from right in blue]. They all wrist threw the balls..terrible fundamentals. The name of the game is fundamentals not how fast you get ball out of glove. Moving on..bubye!
It doesn't matter how fast you get it out of your glove when you are a beginner like these girls. In a game, they are going to rush it, and because of their bad throwing form, they are going to make a bad throw. From experience, I know that if you continue to drop your elbow, your shoulder is going hurt. I have seen many catchers have to quit softball because they drop their elbow and had a side-arm throw. I am a 16 yearold catcher, and this is a sucky drill if you do it wrong like these girls.
Not to be critical but those dropped elbows create a pushing the ball movement and poor lining up of the glove side to the target creates very weak throwing velocity while putting a lot of strain on those rotor cuffs etc. Let the elbow lead the ball in hand back up and around in a very short circular movement to a reverse "L" arm launch position, elbow in line, parallel to the ground, no higher than the shoulder, there is more to throwing than just quick hands.
they do not want to short arm it like they are because it affects the throw point your glove arm all the way back step follow through and release

Reinforces bad throwing motion. could have many balls and girl drop ball in bucket after fielding.
