  • I mean, you can still use strikers, but using someone like Nog it's like you're on autopilot, if the guy tries to submit you they'll usually end up in a horrible position.

And if you use Nog's leg locks you can press either of the submission button combo's to transition instantly to either the other leg or an armbar. It's really hard to spot, so it works well.

And if you can get good at catching their punches and stuff, that's pretty crucial in doing well. Hard mode taught me that.

  • Thanks man. Still can't reply to your messages though. I just added you as a friend to see if that works.

I am getting the hang of this game (Pride FC) but my friend is still kicking my ass! Even when I kick the shit out of his guy, he still manages to submit me after only landing a few hits. I think it's because he has fat fingers and can mash the buttons faster - fat fucker!

It really pisses me off. Any tips?

  • Haha, well if your friend is big on submissions, pick one of the better ground fighters like Nogueira, Royce, or Sakuraba for starters. They naturally have better luck at escapes.

And when he's trying to submit you, you have to not only mash the buttons but perform like, full circles on the directional pad, know what I mean?

And moving the directional pad around will stop him from passing your guard (a rare move anyways) and help you stay in control when you're on top and he tries to buck ya

  • If you're kicking the shit out of him a lot, make sure your green stamina bar doesn't drop too much from attacking. That makes it easier for him to submit you.

  • Sorry about that, it seems certain people who aren't even on my Friends List can message me, but others can't...? I'm working on that.

So as a general rule you just have to mash buttons before a certain time runs out (training mode actually shows you how long you have) and you'll be free.

But there are certain buttons you can push at the right time to get a specific counter such as a knee to the head, Sakuraba's suplex, and Dan Hendo's counter heel hook. (more...)

  • Oii dude this is for the Pride FC game, why did you lock the comments? And you have friend lock on or something so I can't reply to your message.

    1 more question:

When countering grapples do you have to repeatedly mash the buttons (square & X, Triangle & O etc.) or can you just press them once and you'll break free if the timing is correct?

  • Like generally you would press square and triangle to escape a submission or a tie up, but some moves require x and o. Again, training mode shows you what to use and when.

Gamefaqs has a list of all the secret moves, like Igor's famous KO combo, Sakuraba's standing Kimura and Nog's transitions which I have down pretty well if you like to use those fighters.
