Has anyone notice this is totally body rotational pitch he is not even using his arms or hands. He is hitting the ball with the body turning left which in turn is squaring the club. I have been a one planer for years and many people do not pick up on the fact that the body is supplying all the force and direction. Stan Utley gets it and that is why he is the most sought after short game coach. As we all know a pitch is just a bigger chip. Congrats Ritter on the new article in the TIPS magazine.
Complete fallacy. It is literally not possible to have anything approaching a normal golf swing without "using arms or hands," no matter what the player perceives or is trying to do. What you've got is a body movement (including but not limited to rotation) that supports the swinging motion so well that it looks like one unified thing, which it is--but that's not the same thing as "no hands or arms."
@HPcustomgolf Try swinging with literally no hands or arms sometime. You can't get above waist-high or so.
Really, the hands-arms v. body thing is a false dichotomy. When I used to teach, I'd show students how you could flip the club with _only_ your hands and it looked "handsy," but blend that with arm and body support and the exact same amount of hand motion and it looked like the hands were barely working.
Some of this is just the falsehood of how we speak of a unified thing as if it were made up of separate "parts"; we get caught up in the illusion that the "parts" are the reality, rather than just a concept for convenience of discussion. Mahan has one motion going, not a collection of parts that are governing or sublimating each other ("all body, no arms and hands"; "hands and arms swinging force the body to come along"; etc.).
good toughts man. this is a part of my game that i have to improve next season. as a 9hcp after 2years, i feel that my putting and game withing 80-100 yards is what i have to step up next year.. and just aim for the middle of the greens instead of goin for every flag... we have small greens here in sweden :p
His arms really finish around to the left. My arms finish up high near my head. Maybe that's why I hit it a mile right all the time. Now I have to go to the range and try that. More swing thoughts now, lol.
You may be thinking from result back to cause. There are many things that can make you finish high and right versus lowish and leftish. Depends how you got there.
Like its not obvious its on 4 second clip played over and over:/

@nicebbqsauce Was never meant not to be obvious. Created a loop so people wouldn't have to keep hitting play to watch it over and over again.

My perception is that he is using his hands and arms to swing the club and keep it square - not his body.

Swinging left is the best way to play, if you do it with your pivot not your hands, very in control of the ball.
