  • His fucking hands fly like the wind!!!

  • Translation in English please!!!

  • i heard a lot of english words while zakir was speaking

  • I know how those guys feel in the beginning when I met Zakir Hussain last Saturday

  • this is very good knowledge video

  • i like how he didnt have to ask the previous tabla player if he could take his spot. He just took his place like it was his own.

  • that young man on the tabla is Adtiya Kalyanpur!

  • I really like the beat played at 4:49, does anyone know the wording of it?

  • ha ha i know it.

  • I know it now as well!!! :-)

  • funny idea... Zakir and car wheel damage... and during the stop over he gives a music workshop finding his good old friend Sultan Khan ... *laugh* - Great story telling... well done ;-)

  • abee khowar admi hian koi aur kaam nahi melaa tablaa bajanee lag geyaa haha

  • wah kya bat hai ustad zakir ki..

  • Because in India, touching an elder's feet is a way of showing respect and also as a greeting.

  • It also is a sign of respect. . .

  • because the zakir hussain is the master of tabla instrument..

  • Great video! Thanks for uploading it.

It gives a good basic introduction to the Tabla and Indian classical music.

  • Weird how he speaks english randomly, but that just adds to the AMAZINGNESS!!

  • That how 'sophisticated' indians like to speak! if you add a few blighty words then it shows you know english! hence you are sophisticated and educated!

  • Nobody does it deliberately. Its just a way of speech in India. AND it is certainly not a way of showing that one knows "English" that is absurd.

  • I watched a bollywood movie with a few indian freinds and we were laughing because the actors seemed to only use english phrases when they were really driving home a point or really mad.

But i don't think it's showing off at all - just a by product of english being mixed into language and culture...

  • @StrongHeartLives

you are right it is not show off. It is the influence of western culture!

  • @StrongHeartLives astute observation, you are right, unfortunate :(

  • vah... vah... vah... Masterpiece !!!! Thank you very much for loading...

  • Please do it in English.

  • absolutely breathtaking; this video, and the entire series, is great! thank you SOO much for posting them!! i've already learned a lot by watching this video. Zakir Hussain is amazing, and I'm so blessed to have learned from him all the way in the US! Thank you so much for posting!

  • hahahaha

  • Zakir Hussain is amazing!

He's playing London Barbican on Friday 19 June!

  • Very informative.. great post for beginner fans like us.. thanks!

  • thanks 4 uploading bro i wz getting bored of all the club music n stuff...not that its bad. Mr. Hussain i truly Ustad

  • i didt like the way they short the intro part- these teenagers catching him, taking him in. Its a very old video , very possibly doordarshan sponsered. Looks weird in the beginning...

  • jimmy page looklike

  • it seems a good lessons but i dont understand what is he saying, any chance to have subtitles??

  • well i can translate some for you

  • I love his dad. he was the ture ustad not that Zakir Hussain is not a ustad, I think he is a great tabla player, but his dad was someting else, he was so humble and mature.

    God bless

  • Which one is hot? There are a few women in the video

  • I don't know ... I guess I was drunk that night.... lol... . They are all good looking.

  • wowowow thats what we call music...gr8 indian music...

  • Music does not have religious or cultural barries. This is only created by politions, curse all of them

  • He may be Muslim, but he has full knowledge of Hindu tradition. He is a perfect example of a multicultural artist.

  • he is superb - he has got the Gods Fingers

  • excellent I have been a fan of Zakir Hussein for a long time

  • he´s just beyond words... thanks for posting this video!!

  • wow not only is he the best tabla player but he is incredibly generous and nice!

  • KYA BAAT HEY

  • I only understand the english in this video, and I don't quite understand why they sometimes speak in hindi, and sometimes in english. Can anyone explain?

  • because the British ruled India for quite a long time. Indian culture has always been a magic mix of many different things and the same happens with languages... it's rather common for Hindi speakers to mix in English words or full sentences while they speak.

  • That's interesting. Thank you for the explanation.

  • you're welcome... I've always found very interesting how Indian people conceive laguages and I've noticed they learn words and sounds in foreign languages pretty fast

  • Also English is the one language in India that unites the whole country because of British India

  • yes, that's completely true, English is the only language that can be understood all across India, anyway here they are not exactly speaking English, they are just using some words and phrases while speaking Hindi

  • yea but it is like hindi because it is common in most of the region. The other languages that are major in other states is like spanish in us. Not every indian speaks english anyways. It is just sometime it is a few words or phrases. It is like when you would say odios in da us. Over here some people try to be cute and say goodbye and thankyou in different languages.I am aware that indian people speak english fully but it is used mostly in business. People usually speak hindi if other people do.

  • yes, it's not just an occasional use, Persian and Arabic words are also used in Hindi in the same way, anyway this use it's completely incorporated in the language and full sentences are also used...

  • What an emotional experience to watch this! Billion and one thanks.

  • awesome dude!! i speak punjabi but i can understand hindi pretty well. it's the next best thing to actually being taught by zakir hussain.

  • Awesome! Thanks a thousand time for posting, u helped me a lot. It's mindblowing to see Ustadji speak and teach!
