This commercial is more than a little mis-leading. It simply says, "AT&T covers 97% of all Americans"... so that means that ALL other wireless carriers cover only 3% of the population... So, how in the hell are they still around? Seriously, 3% of the population is not enough to sustain a major wireless carrier...

What good is AT&T's coverage when when your calls drop multiple times a day? That's what happens in Manhattan on an iPhone. Drive down the West Side Hwy (a major path to the financial district where Apple wants people to consider the iPhone for business) and guaranteed, you will lose your call. Is that acceptable when you're on a conference call with a client? Or try making a call in Union Square, one of the most populated places in the city. There's no signal whatsoever. Nice job, AT&T.

LMAO, ATT shows a 2G coverage map... Both sprint and verizon have 5 times more 3g coverage than att, and faster 3g speeds since cdma doesn't bog down like gsm.
No, GSM is used worldwide becuase it is much cheaper. CDMA is newer, more expensive and the frequency range supports much greater bandwidth than gsm will ever achieve. CDMA is superior and is the reason why US carriers are switching to cdma.

Visited Albuquerque this Thanksgiving. My friend and I tried to make a local call and both our phones kept dropping calls. 10 attempts and we gave up This was right outside of Sadies, (ABQ people know where it is) We had to go inside to ask if they had a public phone. ATT service was crappy there, And ABQ is pretty big.

What this ad fails to mention verbally (and also even in small-text-form-at-the-bottom, I can't find it anywhere?) is that when Luke at the beginning says "AT&T covers over 300 million people" and shows the orange map, they're not saying shit about specifically 3G. This is because, in Georgia, the entire state does not have great 3G service. It is spotty and all depends on where you go in the state. So, I could have perfect 3G at home, then go a county or two away and have 1 bar of 3G , or even be forced on Edge(2G).

Your network can "allow" for any speed you like, but the fact of the matter is that the iPhone fad has your network so bogged down that I'm better off driving to the nearest library and using a real computer there.
Your commercials do nothing to address this. Your coverage is spotty and unreliable (dropped calls), regardless of who can use it when (when it's working properly).
Instead of hiring B-List actors how about you invest in some ACTUAL customer service.

On one commercial, this guy says AT&T's 3G coverage covers over 230 million Americans. I think that means AT&T has the power to cover over 230 million people, they don't have 230 million customers!

just to put this in perspective;
there are 19,355 cities in the US, and AT&T only covers 9,400 of them; that is less than half.
AT&T covers 97% of the PEOPLE in the USA, not the LANDSPACE; big difference..
in the major cities; there is little difference in network capabilities, but outside major cities; AT&T is awful. the coverage is spotty.
AT&T is faster than Verizon, but if you can't get service, that speed is meaningless..
*lesson; go with Verizon, these commercials are stupid.

Way to mislead people, AT&T.
1. Covering more people does not mean better service.
2. It also does not mean that another company does not have the capability to cover as many people.
3. He says "97% are covered by AT&T," but not how those people are covered. They could be counting their television, internet, and other services along with their cell phone service.
I can probably go on for a while longer, but I don't have that kind of room.

What good is AT&T's coverage when when your calls drop multiple times a day? That's what happens in Manhattan on an iPhone. Drive down the West Side Hwy (a major path to the financial district where Apple wants people to consider the iPhone for business) and guaranteed, you will lose your call. Is that acceptable when you're on a conference call with a client? Or try making a call in Union Square, one of the most populated places in the city. There's no signal whatsoever. Nice job, AT&T.

No, GSM is used worldwide becuase it is much cheaper. CDMA is newer, more expensive and the frequency range supports much greater bandwidth than gsm will ever achieve. CDMA is superior and is the reason why US carriers are switching to cdma.

Dumped ATT yesterday in Dallas due to Keecrappy coverage so this ad makes me laugh.
Their network is overloaded according to news reports.
They instantly let me out of my contract at no charge when I told the Rep. "Im calling you from my companies T-Mobile phone because your ATT phone has no service". Kudos to them for letting me out... I will give em that.

Visited Albuquerque this Thanksgiving. My friend and I tried to make a local call and both our phones kept dropping calls. 10 attempts and we gave up This was right outside of Sadies, (ABQ people know where it is) We had to go inside to ask if they had a public phone. ATT service was crappy there, And ABQ is pretty big.

Also, a huge fractionn of those people with coverage have to go outside to make a call because reception tends to SUCK with ATT (and TMobile) indoors. This leads me to believe that the GSM band that ATT and TMobile use don't have as much penetrating power as Verizon and Sprint's CDMA band.

What this ad fails to mention verbally (and also even in small-text-form-at-the-bottom, I can't find it anywhere?) is that when Luke at the beginning says "AT&T covers over 300 million people" and shows the orange map, they're not saying shit about specifically 3G. Trust me, I have been with AT&T for 6 years now. I love them but their 3G is their only HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE problem. I'm sorry AT&T...it's the truth.
P.S: I live in "Atl, GA", which is mentioned in this ad as having "service" lol.

This is because, in Georgia, the entire state does not have great 3G service. It is spotty and all depends on where you go in the state. So, I could have perfect 3G at home, then go a county or two away and have 1 bar of 3G , or even be forced on Edge(2G).
This ad is trying to fool the public into thinking AT&T's 3G network covers "97% of all Americans". It does not. They're not saying 3G, they're just saying "wireless coverage" lol. That's the key. They get away with it by not mentioning 3G.
