  • nevermind lol

  • when you replicate and change the color of one side it doesn't work for me it changes the whole thing that color

  • dude I played you on Xbox live yesterday!

  • i think that it is good to mention that you can also just select your layer with the gradient only on it, click from the menubar

Colors>color to Alpha... then choose a color from your gradient to make it instead transparent.

  • if you want to see transparent gradients in action go to 7:19.

  • Do you have a tutorial on how to make something, like your background in this video?

  • thank you for making this wonderful gradient tutorial XD

  • Thanks for the tutorial!

  • isn't there an Undo (Ctrl+Z) option when creating gradient ?

  • @Eidriena I was saying the same thing in my head, but sadly, no...

  • thanks for saying how to make it transparent

  • how can i make 3 color types?

  • You're good dude. lIke at first, i was gonna turn it off cause I thought it was gonna be some kid messing around...but know you're ridiculous. Good job.

  • where do you download gradients?

  • In Gimp 2.6, when I click replicate and then try to chance the color of the other side (Right), it goes back to before I replicated it and changes the color there.. Do you know how to fix it so it doesn't do that or I am doing something wrong?

  • thanks JB flame me if u want idc

  • Thanks!

  • thanks so much for the tutorial, I'm just learning GIMP myself and dont really care for photoshop, I've been looking for tutorials like this and its nice that you take your time and go step by step, I'll subscribe and send you a mail soon.

  • Thanks for the tutorial

  • nevermind

  • how do you maximize the gradient window i cant do it on mine

  • Thank you so much!!! xD

  • Thanks Gimpboy! You're really good at Gimp and I'm old enough to be your grandma by the sounds of it and you're teaching me to suck eggs. It's good enough for me so keep on coming with those tutorials. : -)

  • @SammeeB

ha ha! ditto here - thanx kid - you're fantastic!

  • Voice reminds me of Justin Bieber's. LOL

  • Very nice tutorial man! Seriously! I was mucking about with gimp and googling away and didn't get how to make my 3 layer gradient until I saw your vid. Thanks! :)

  • this was great. Thanks for taking the time to make this!

  • LOL how you say im gonna make it red XD

But thanks anyway this helped me.

  • You're really good with GIMP.

  • Thanks so much! Sometimes we think the things we are good at are easy as pie, but I had no idea I could make my own gradient. I have been searching for like ann hour trying to find own I like that I could download. You rock!

  • i don't know if you made your background on your desktop but if you did,do you think you could make a tutorial? it looks awesome(:

  • your mother thought you better than that grow up !stop cuzzin!@xaxaxao902

  • wow!!! this is so much easier in gimp rather than Photoshop, everyone sucks but me!!

  • wow. making a gradient is so much easier and better in photoshop.

  • Really good, but the gradient editor has a Flip Segment tool. Thanks

  • which video shows you do the background thing?

  • wow! that's awesome!

    random but cool wallpaper :P

And Im gonna give it a try since im still learning gimp (:

  • VERY good tutorial, count on a subscription! <3

  • Thanks a lot for this tutorial!

  • you're voice is cute

  • Is it possible for you to make a rainbow one and send it on to people by download... im looking for one but i prob wont be able 2 do it haha...

  • hahah! man that's the easiest thing to make!

open the gradient editing window, right click

    > Coloring type for segment > HSV (either one is fine) there! instant rainbow gradient!

  • Thanks I shall try that sometime... and for the record im a girl haha... cheers again x

  • oh!!!and sorry for asking on an old video(some people don't like that) but i was wondering if you could do a tutorial on how to make chakra like from naruto.

please lemme know. if not, it's still cool.

  • I don't mind. Maybe.

  • ok, thank god you made this, sorry i'm an idiot and didn't look to your older vids till now. but it's a life saver. cuz i made realistic fire as you showed in your realistic fire tutorial, only i had wanted it a pinkish/blue color so i had did some colorizing and didn't turn out as good. so thanks now i don't have to do that.

  • actually thats debatable because adobe photoshop costs 100's while gimp is free. gimp is also a lot easier to use and there really isn't much difference.

  • @upgrademicro1 ok im sorry but BOTH i those statements i don't agree with

the first one = Photoshop 7 = FREE

2nd statement i cant create a fucking 3 color gradient and figure out how to change ANY FUCKING COLOR on the sides OR middle just by clicking on it WHY NOT HUH WHY NOT i really want to know

  • @timpster93 boy ar you stupid or what? LOL, first off show some respect do not use foul words when its disrespectful, this kid tried his best to show you HOW TO in simple terms that a monkey like you could understand, its not HIS fault that you fail to see this. and GIMP is a hell alot better than Photoshop shit.

  • @timpster93 btw you MUST SELECT THE GRADIENT YOU WANT TO CHNE COLOR TO! TO DO SO SELECT BY GOING DOWN BELOW THE BAR WHERE YOU SEE ARROWS AT...SELECT THE RIGHT ARROW! jeez.....its not all that hard.

  • Comment removed

  • @upgrademicro1 sorry about that comment it was to the other one , sighs.

  • It also contributes to loss of income! Of course it's better. :D

  • wow thanks o.o

  • I downloaded some gradients and i can't use them

I saved them in the right place so I don't know whats wrong

  • How do you select only the right-side gradient?? O_O

  • there is a bar under that. you click the right side of the bar.

  • thx soo much for this tut it was very helpful

  • Piece of cake!

  • do ya think u could make one with gimp 2.6 plz.this 1 confused me for some reason

  • Could you please explain again how to make transparent gradients? That's exactly what I'm interested in...

Your tutorial is great. What capture program do you use?

  • It says how to near the end of the video.

  • Yeah, I noticed, but you said it so quickly that I didn't quite follow... That's ok! Thanks anyway!

  • Helpful, but how do I apply the gradient to a selective section of the image? Trying to make my own emote :3

  • Well, you can use the circle select tool or square select. If you already have a logo, just select alpha to selection.

  • i swear to god we have the same voice o__O

thanks for the tut! gonna be very handy.

  • I have been looking for a tut for this very thing! Wow. I am impressed. You saved me from a long search.

  • thanks!

  • Gud job on this but I was looking for how to get like a backgroujnd to be a gradient then have another picture on there but with that gradient

  • Oh. I dont know how to make a picture grad.

  • I love comments too. =D

  • Great tutorial (as always), clear, simple and easy !

    Thanks

  • Thank you.

  • I have a Request. Can you show us how to make our own fonts?

  • I could show you how to make the letters, but, unfortunatly, you need a program to make fonts, and after a quick search, almost all of them take money.

  • If you could just show how to make the letters that would be great because I have a friend that has a font program

  • OK. What file should I save the letters as + What size should they be + What kind of font do you want to make?

  • I just want my own font. save it as a .png and have a transpernt background. and make the letter 48x48 and Simply make a "M"

  • OK I can do that sometime.

  • dood where can i get that wallpapper

  • Use the flame script-FU on Gimp. Select spiral.

  • nice your my god :D

  • I hope god is a terrible overstatement, but thanks!

  • lol your a cool kid

  • i think your tutorials are amazing...i have photoshop but i still like to use gimp from time to time and it is mainly because of you and it is so much simpler..and by the way do you just figure these things out or look them up and make videos about them..either way good work and keep it up

  • thanks!
