it's funny.... i guess people are just too close minded to appreciate 20 years of dedication to expanding horizons in an art form... sometimes there just anything to "get"
oh no, just sad that there are those who find the need to be critical....I was in 1 of Christina's classes and just thoroughly enjoyed learning, having fun and being with others doing the same. Christina was a joy !!
i agree with what's said below. and i just don't understand the "improv" in the middle, or how you move from so called hip hop, to lyrical improv, to lyrical movement at the end. how the hell does this piece make any sense? and if you're teaching a class, why are you dancing forever at the end of class? shouldnt they be utilizing this time to dance?
hhmm . . . this is not really hip hop. it's "pop" movement and then jazz. for all the real hip hop heads out there-where's the poppin, where's the breakin. i just cannot get down with you callin this hip hop . . . and really, is hip hop ever taught in a class? that defeats the whole point of hip hop ...
There is no true form of hip hop just like there is no true form of any dance for that matter. It is all in a dancer's interpretation and they show that through the motion of their body. Hip hop is not always the pop and locking that you are thinking of, but diversity. There are many different levels. Come to think of it, it you can't learn the style in a class, how else are you going to learn it?
do you know anything about the history of hip hop?if you know any true hip hop heads-people who live and breath it-through any of the 4 forms of hip hop they will tell you it only exists in the clubs!you don't learn in a class.you learn in the clubs.most breakers are self taught.i know that is the case for me. you learn by watching.the huge thing with hip hop is not biting other people's style.that's why you CAN'T learn in class!you've gotta come original and create your own shit!
before anybody gets a chance... I know I landed my back attitude like a rhinoceros... that's what improv is meant for... learning from your "mistakes"... you can't do it wrong...(kelsey, if you please...)
looks like tons of fun!!
