I also have this planet Z ride... and I think it works really well it is verry massive. BUT! I have been on a set with the hi-hat and the crash and they are extremely crapy. They are also so fucking massive so that they wont give much sound and.. yeah! If your going for these cymbals then you should only buy the ride!
Bad thing about planet Z series, its good too much vibration on every single cymbal, i have a 16 crash and the sound isnt that good, you can tell that just by knowing that its a low cost cymbal, it only costed 50 euros, which is like 55 dollars
hmmmm ive had the the zbt and planet z sereis and there is a bit of contriversy like ppl say zbt and planet z are both shit but man theyre just as good as any other cymbal i love the sound of the ZBT's thats my opinoun z planets are fuckin awesum to so like for all those fuck heads saying planet Z sucks 2 words COCK HEAD (:
@TheMaskeDrummer Ever played any cymbals from the Sabian HHX Evolution series (my current fav) or even the Zildjian K Custom Hybrids? Just a few that came to mind. ZBT or Planet Z serve their purpose, but there is a huge difference in quality and sound.
I own A mixture of the pro lines from Sabian and it hurts my ears to go back to the ZBT's and even B8's (sabian). They are very high pitched and ringy and not as musical to my ears. Again budget line have their place...
@SittingOnTheMoon87 I agree, although they are at least something to hit while you're saving money. I've currently got a set of ZBTs, while I save up for some Alchemy Pros or Zildjian Ks. It's better having them than nothing.
@5minsLate Absolutely - In fact I still have a set of ZBT's laying around, and the B8 crashes sound decent too, I have one of those laying around as well.
i have the same set except its red and i replaced the snare and hey your original cymbals look like mine did after i played for a while. i got remo pinstripe heads for it
Dude, sabians are way more than an extra $20 bucks. This series is pretty sweet especially considering the price. The crash (I know this is the ride) sounds just like John Bonham's from Led zepplin if you ask me .
@kingdomEPIC yeah I got a set of planet z's for my second cymbal set, to replace the stock ones. They're awful. The crash only lasted like three months or so, the hats got trashed after about a year. The ride is still good, it just sounds terrible. Super dull and dead sounding.
Very good starter cymbals, very bad serious cymbals.
@bubbleboy4892 youve never seen the k crash ride i used to hate them then i went to guitar center played on the 21" one and was amazed u gotta try it out im saving up for it now
@awsumtractorNOT If you want to get a crash ride I wouldn't recommend the planet Z ride but I think if you want an affordable crash ride the paiste 302's are brilliantly crashable. I use both rides on my set to have a larger variety of ride sounds.
dude i have the exact drums!!! but my heads are ruined and is the planet z good?? because i might try to get the 4 cymbal pack for $150. and getting some black suede emperor heads
@gundamfan100 I started off with planet Z. They are the cheapest zildjian around but great for the price, I'd recommend to any beginners. They are a huge step above "no brands" the cheap shit yhat sounds like dustbin lids that you get nowadays with cheap kits. A word of warning, as I improved I hit harder and being quite low grade cymbals, they started to fall to pieces. THe ride is the only one I have not yet replaced, and only because Im saving up for a hammered ride.
@gundamfan100 I have Paiste Alpha 14" sound edge hats. I dont think they are as good as cast cymbals, but they are great. THe sound edge gives them a really nice "chik" sound
@smilerdude Im in it for the metal edge hi hats, metal crash, and metal ride, The china ehhh I pass,, I'd prefer to get the pst 5 china or the rude series china
@gundamfan100 As far as I can tell, metal edge hats are the same as sound edge, just with whatever alloy the metal cymbals use. I think the crinkling is the same. IT really does give it a crisp sound. You'll love it
@gundamfan100 Thanks for the subscription :) Erm, I really dont think I have the double bass stamina for that song yet, I just gave it a spin and its crazy! And as for recording, its a digital camera, but I put a blob of blu tack over the mic to decrease the crackling.

are they better than MEINL HCS ?

It's weird how these sound good before you've heard the high end cymbals :L

I this ride!!!
DeMoSheFtaLiaS 6 months ago
The ride is the best component of the entire set. It's actually decent for an entry level ride.
The crash comes second as bearable. It's alright, but very trashy and cheap sounding. I'm afraid I'm going to break it every time I crash.
The hats are terrible. They sound like what they are made of: Tin. Really hollow, blunt sound.
Replaced the hats with Sabian B8's (A decent upgrade for cheapies), may as well keep the crash as a second. Ride is awesome - I'll replace that last.

It has too many overtones
The Sabian AAX or the Zildjian K 20" ride have a more clear sound and way less overtones
