I will start looking for a burner like that, thanks. However, I do not agree with your comment of brazing vs. soldering. The filler metal melting points determine what you have and the associated heating method of getting those temperatures. Soldering is generally done below about 750 deg. F. while brazing is above that point. 56 % silver brazing rod melts about 1,100 deg. Freon in HVAC equipment can reach 400 psi, and the fittings are silver brazed, usually with an oxyacetylene torch.

@1897bluesky silver solder is a very high melting point, as apossed to regular solering or brazing..

"Silver solder" comes in a variety of grades, the ones with the lowest

> melting points are ArgoSwift and EasyFlo2 which melt at 600-610C

Very good. I have the same kits and am about to run on steam. I botched up sealing the boiler by thinking the joints had to be silver brazed instead of just silver soldered. Sealing up the dome was a real mess. How did you switch over to propane for a fuel instead of solid fuel?

I bought a ceramic burner from oveer seas, much much better than using solid fuel. braising has a lower melting point than silver solder., and can cause catastrauphic results.

I bought the casting kit and machioned it. the boiler was a kit as well and I built it too. it now has a dynamo that runs some lites on it now. just over 800 inveted into it so far.

If you wan't a decent dynamo I used an old electric motor from a tape player and it will generate about 5V. If you belted one of the edge of your flywheel I recon you could double that!
