Thats so cool. I hope i get a chance to do that someday. I have always loved bears of all kinds.Panda adults are probably the only bear species i would feel safe sitting with though. I don't think i'll be hugging a grizzly or polar bear anytime soon.

If that were true, they wouldn't let people sit with and cuddle the adult pandas. They might act out of defence when isolated in the wild, but for the most part they are very tame and gentle.

@Lunarock - If you go to the Panda Reserves, such as the Chengdu Breeding Reserve, or Bifengxia, you can have the opportunity to sit with a panda cub or a full grown panda.The fee we paid was 200 yuan per person to sit with the cub and 100 yuan per person to sit with the adult. My understanding is that the fees have increased.

Fu Fu 's brother was the hero panda Xiang Xiang who died tragically in 2007 after he was released into the wild in 2006.

Fu Fu 's mother died this year (2010) accidentally when toxic gas leaked into her enclosure.

Fu Fu is extra special to all panda lovers.

Thanks for the wonderful video. Fu Fu is such a handsome panda. His mom is #20, called "Number One beauty of Wolong", who died tragically last July due to poison gas accident. Fu Fu definitely inherits the good look from #20.

The closest large city is Chengdu, it is about a four hour drive from there to the panda reserve. There is also a smaller breeding center just outside of Chengdu. Our tour was with the National Zoo in Washington. The trip was arranged by a company called China Advocates (they are on the web). They took care of everything

I think those 'candles' are carrots. I live in China as an expat and the carrots can be really really bright and almost unnatural in color here compared to back home (Australia).

Fufu was moved to Fuzhou city this dawn, because Wolong Panda Reserve was badly damaged during the earthquake, most pandas have to leave Wolong and be sent to safer palces. The saddest news was that a female panda named Maomao was killed in this disaster, her rotten body was found on 5th, June... Moreover, another female one, Xiaoxiao, is still missing, staffs there said that maybe she's already buried under the mud and rocks rolled from mountains...
