Jims song is a very beautiful song and well heart felt, As well My Tams song is also heart felt and a beautiful rendition even if it is a remake, but it is not a remake, but a totally different song all together.
Yes Jim Brickman composed this song, but the producers were only inspired by his song, it is impossible to sing this song the Jims original work. and to put the two together they are totally 2 complete different works.
It is less of a copy right infringement of what My Tams' producers did then what is happening in the USA today with all these song remakes going on.

Well, Vietnam is a poor country. If you actually watch their dramas via Satellite, the quality is not top notch compared to the U.S, but it is still entertaining. They're still developing.
No one is condemning My Tam here, people. They are criticizing Vo Thien Thanh for claiming the song is his. By definition, such action is called "stealing." It should be labeled as the following:
Ca Si: My Tam
Nhac: Jim Brickman
Loi: Vo Thien Thanh
Vo Thien Thanh thought he could get away with it because he assumed no one in Vietnam would know about it. Go get some rat dishes, Vo Thien Thanh.
I don't think he really intentionally stole the melody from Brickman. I think he was inspired by this melody, and used a portion of it to develop uoc gi, because it is obvious that he had added a lot of additional music/melody/notes to uoc gi that were his because uoc gi does have additional music that cannot be heard in Jim Brickman's version. So what Vo thanh tien have done was Composer: Jim Brickman with additional music by Vo Thien Thanh.
...So, I don't think he should be criticized heavily because he did add a lot of his own notes/melody/music to uoc gi. From what I can hear from both, there's only a small portion of Brickman's melody that I can hear in Uoc Gi. And in music I believe there are coincidence all the time.
and I feel that Vietnamese music industry always becomes a target of degradation by people of other ethnicity, even Vietnamese ppl, because it's an easy target, and no one seems to like our country, so they like to crazily go find vietnamse videos and criticize and find fault with them.

Personally I do NOT have any problem with My Tam's singing. But the thing that bothers me the most is her and Vo thien Thanh's ignorance to the creativity of Ji, Brickman's composition "Night Prayer". That kind of action is NOT acceptable in the US and could be prosecuted BIG TIME....

@anhvanhanhquan86 UL cannot sing this song better than MT. This song has been created forMT, it is HER song, perfect for her special, particular voice. UL's voice is technically very good, but the emotions....are others...Her voice is not particular ( I mean: I can recognize MT's voice between 1 milion) UL's voice is similar to many others, ex. My Linh and 1 ML is enough. To be a star, a perfect voice is not enough, it must be UNIQUE and she has to sing her OWN songs, like MT does, not cover!

Mỗi lần nghe là 1 lần xúc cảm. Có lúc trên xe buýt phát chương trình ca nhạc theo yêu cầu, nghe thấy lạnh sống lưng, dù bài hát chỉ nhẹ nhàng không phô trương kỹ thuật này nọ. Bấy lâu rồi nhưng cảm xúc vẫn tinh khôi!

Folks, i play clasical guitar and write music as a hobby. A chorus of this song is somewhat influenced by first few line of Night Prayer. every musician is somehow at least one way influenced by other sound of music when he/she writes songs. From the artistic representation, this song is quite entertaining. so thanks to all musicians to make it happen. Now sit back, relax...pump the volume up and enjoy the song

Im proud to be Vietnamese I don't anything wrong with our culture. Jims song is a very beautiful song and well heart felt, As well My Tams song is also heart felt and a beautiful rendition even if it is a remake, but it is not a remake, but a totally different song all together.

Yes Jim Brickman composed this song, but the producers were only inspired by his song, it is impossible to sing this song the Jims original work. and to put the two together they are totally 2 complete different works.
It is less of a copy right infringement of what My Tams' producers did then what is happening in the USA today with all these song remakes going on.

Well, Vietnam is a poor country. If you actually watch their dramas via Satellite, the quality is not top notch compared to the U.S, but it is still entertaining. They're still developing.

No one is condemning My Tam here, people. They are criticizing Vo Thien Thanh for claiming the song is his. By definition, such action is called "stealing." It should be labeled as the following:
Ca Si: My Tam
Nhac: Jim Brickman
Loi: Vo Thien Thanh
Vo Thien Thanh thought he could get away with it because he assumed no one in Vietnam would know about it. Go get some rat dishes, Vo Thien Thanh.

I don't think he really intentionally stole the melody from Brickman. I think he was inspired by this melody, and used a portion of it to develop uoc gi, because it is obvious that he had added a lot of additional music/melody/notes to uoc gi that were his because uoc gi does have additional music that cannot be heard in Jim Brickman's version. So what Vo thanh tien have done was Composer: Jim Brickman with additional music by Vo Thien Thanh.

...So, I don't think he should be criticized heavily because he did add a lot of his own notes/melody/music to uoc gi. From what I can hear from both, there's only a small portion of Brickman's melody that I can hear in Uoc Gi. And in music I believe there are coincidence all the time.

I went to Bao Chan's night at majestic and Tran thu Ha singing the song " Tinh thoi xot xa" and told all audience this song is made by Bao chan, while everyone already known for sure it is not. what was an embrassment if I was her and the guy at the piano......

Personally I do NOT have any problem with My Tam's singing. But the thing that bothers me the most is her and Vo thien Thanh's ignorance to the creativity of Ji, Brickman's composition "Night Prayer". That kind of action is NOT acceptable in the US and could be prosecuted BIG TIME....

It's obviously a problem with Vietnam's music industry and that of other Asian countries. So why condemn her? Everyone already knows that this song isn't original. Besides, this song was released ages ago... I have her new album To The Beat, it's so good! A lot of original tracks and again it's an attempt to bring international sounds to Vietnam! <3 <3
