  • I'm still pre-T, and I'm scared shitless about my singing voice changing. I'm studying music and according to my vocal teachers I have a nearly flawless voice. I'm so afraid of losing the ability to sing anything Broadway after T. Is it hard, or, like, do you have to strain yourself while singing?

  • @SunshineIsDaShit My voice has changed a lot since this video. My latest video is a redo of this song actually, and you'll notice I'm singing it quite differently. My range is smaller, for sure, and the tonal quality is different, but it's all good. I strain only if I'm trying to hit notes that are no longer in my range. I'm still working on projection. No regrets!

  • You did;nt do yourself justice. You sing beautifully and you can play the hell out of that guitar. I like your taste in music.

  • You're amazing!!!! Thanx so much for posting this! It gives me a lot of hope too! I've been warring with myself as a musician and wanting to get testosterone injections, Thank you so much! You're voice is AMAZING!

  • i think i'm in love......

  • holy smokes man, you're voice is amazing

  • i just have to say this, great chest! can't see any scars at all or anything. and great voice of course (:

  • OMG i loved it, i love the way you play the guitar"!!!! baby, congratulations , i loved the song , the voice, the rythm

  • hi Transoutlaw! i don't know if you will also go well with Maroon5 songs, but i think u have a good voice & can sing very well, can you sing WON'T GO HOME WITHOUT YOU by maroon 5? hope you can have a vid!

Thanks in advance & u got great transition process!

  • heeeeeeeeeeeeyyyyyyyy i like that....

  • Thanks! I LOVE this song. I need to re-record it since I think I'd sing it a little differently now. Really fun to play that one on guitar!

  • i like this song and you do it justice. very well played i dont really play accoustic i play electric but i cant sing if i tried to i would murder the music but you did very nice job

  • Thanks Cassie!! I play electric too, but haven't been recently. I only break them out when I'm playing with others. What kind of music do you play?

  • You are absolutely amazing! I play the guitar as well but you are just awesome at playing. I wish I was as gifted as you. Great voice as well! Hope after your vocal lessons you can get it back! good luck!

  • Thanks so much, Riley! I'm really hoping that the vocal lessons give me a new confidence with singing and playing. I'd like to dedicate some time to "woodshedding" and take my skills to a new level. I've plateaued in recent years, and need new inspiration. My thinking all along has been that I could turn this loss into a gain, and get new momentum from transition. I have to be careful not to build it up too much though, and set myself up for disappointment. Anyway, thanks again!!

  • Thanks Josh! My voice took a big drop over the fall, so I don't think I could sing this the same way now. Glad I archived it!

  • hello man! i like your voice and guitar sound you are talented man congratulations

  • Thanks so much, I appreciate your kind comment! I haven't been playing much lately, perhaps I should...

  • Jamie Sams Medicine cards? :)

  • Yes, dems de ones! I've had my set for about 12 years now. I got my sister the cards a couple of years ago and was pleased to see they'd added new animals.

  • Ahh yeah, i got my mom the revised edition for her birthday last year :) I use the Sacred Path cards more. Well into Native American stuff!

Anyway, i'll be uploading some videos soon.. as i'm starting on my path of transition. Your videos have been helpful.. i'm lead singer in a band.. so yeah.. thank you :)

  • I think I have that Sacred Path deck as well. :)

Glad you've enjoyed my vids. I'm having some trouble with my voice these days. It's hard to project, I've lost the ability to sing from my diaphragm, and I get a sore throat from too much talking. I'm going to go see this vocal therapist with a trans specialization to help me re-learn technique.

I'm going to go sub to your channel now ...

  • Very soulful voice, love your version...

Great musical ability. Thanks for your videos.

  • Oh wow, thanks so much for your kind comments!

  • oh man you are good!! I was so scared of going on T in fear of losing my singing voice but youre just another on youtube who has proven you still keep it!! good job

  • Thanks so much!! It was/is a big concern for me too. I'm not sure I can still sing this tune like this--my voice has dropped since this video was recorded. But after consulting with some other folks who have been on T longer, I think I'll get past this cracking stage, eventually. I just have to keep working on it.

  • You are very talented. Thanks for sharing that with us. :)

  • I was a bit stressed out this morning, then got your comment, and it lightened the load. Thanks so much!

  • I really enjoyed your explanation of the crow and raven symbolization.

  • Where I live, there is a lot of nature and wildlife, and I tend to speak to animals more than I talk with other live humans! If you're interested in animal medicine, look for the animal medicine cards and book. (You can get it on Amazon.) It's really very cool.

  • wow that was really good :O

  • Thanks Hayden! The album which this song appears on is highly recommended. There is also a very cool live video of Joni performing this here on YouTube. Look for it!

  • Thanks David, much appreciated! I would LOVE to hear a video response from you on this one with your own interpretation of Black Crow.

  • wow dude. you kick ass on the guitar, and singing and playing that probably isn't easy. and again, can't wait to more.

  • You're good!

  • Love, Andy, thanks so much! I really appreciate your compliments. :)

  • Hey Hey! Your voice is really sounding great... singing is sounding much more masculine. I also noticed that your face is changing quite a bit especially your jaw line. Congrats man. Take Care, ~Adam

  • mad guitar playing skills!

  • Thanks for the compliments, Jesse and Adam!

Glad you can see some changes in my face. I'm a little too close to the subject to be objective, and the T changes seem soooo slow to come. All good things in all good time...

  • I'm so glad you posted this! Your voice sounds excellent still and you're looking great. Seeing your vids and blogs makes me feel enthusiastic and even impatient about using T, versus a lot of the other guys seem to talk mostly about the negative effects and that makes me feel like I shouldn't use it in transition.

Thanks for sharing and keep it up,

    Ryan
