  • rhapsody..forewer....

  • how i wish i was there..

  • i was 12 when i got into Pink Floyd, about the time DSOTM came out and my mum bought me the record (i also started playing guitar at the same time)...i used to sit in my bedroom in the dark and listen to this album and imagine i was at the concert (from the photos inside the album)..never saw Pink Floyd...but am going to see RW perform the wall next month wohoo!!!

  • I swear to God...if they ever invent time travel I'm going straight to America...buying a ticket...and gonna chill out to what has to be the GREATEST PINK FLOYD GIG....EVER. :-)....come on Mr Steven Hawkins...make my wish come true !!!

  • INTERPRETAZIONE UNICA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Super! Extraklasse! Tolle Mädels, Danke für dieses Geschenk!

  • This is my favorite live version of The Great Gig in the Sky. I saw the Delicate Sound of Thunder Tour at the JFK in Philadelphia. The trio sang this song note for note and I listen in amazement as the band played on, I had goose bumps and the hair was standing on my arms.

I've been lucky enough to see the band several times. My first show was the Wish You Where Here and Animals Tour at the Spectrum in Philadelphia. I also saw The Wall in NY at the Nassau Coliseum and a few more times.

  • @ecd60 So, so lucky! I never got to see the Floyd during their run. (missed them in '94, Chicago) But seeing them multiple times in concert, on the best tours, you, my friend, are LUCKY! :)

  • @ecd60 I have also been fortunate enough to see Pink Floyd in concert 3 times. My first two shows were in Reunion Arena in Dallas, TX back in '87. Then my 3rd was @ JFK in Phila. also. They are my fave band, and I will cherish those memories forever.

  • England don't make bands like that anymore...shame..everythings plastic now..

  • The guy at 3:45 is tripping so hard man...

He's having the time of his life.

  • this guy is having a powerful hardon !!!!

  • @WaterTheDrink I was in the same condition at the same moment in the same place !

  • @WaterTheDrink

At 3:45 ? Oh i see. Sorry, was on another planet.

  • Wayne Isham did a great job directing this

  • EEHUNTER157

come on clare torry ruled this dude (i think dude but who can tell here )

  • this song and voice woke me up from a coma.

  • giuro che mi vien da piangere

  • if ever theres a song to give anyone goosebumps great gig in the sky is a sure one to do it. without a doubt the best version this one in my opinion

  • I've said it before, elsewhere; Clare's version is the best, but Rachel Fury is SOOOoooo hot singing this.

  • The best version of this song is on the Album, "Dark Side of the Moon," in other words, the original with Clarie Torry period!

  • Personally, I loved these 3 girls than any other 3 girls they have ever gotten to do this song throughout the years.

  • @neoplasmax : oops after watching it a bit I discovered these are not the same three girls...

  • im willing to bet this is the original singer, and the best.by the way im talking about the first of them 3

  • im willing to bet this is the original singer, and the best.

  • Damn all three of these women did such a great job. It was a magical night where everything was perfect. The slide guitar work just framed the vocals and locked them in, A high water mark! After this popular music's water receeded like before a tsunami and I don't think it will ever return.

  • It is so significant that so many key in and respond to Rachel Fury the same way, including myself. After seeing the videos of these first concerts she did with Floyd, I have searched the internet for more of her work, and it seems this was all she did, then dropped out to be a family girl. Her beauty and vocals are mesmerizing!

  • In the late 80's I bought this video , must have been '88 , and I used to watch it whilst drinking whisky , orange juice and milk combined ! I don't know why I drank that , but I was going through a bad time , just seperated , two kids etc. etc..... ANYWAY ..... I used to sit there night afer night , just watching this concert , and I fell madly in love with Rachel Fury ! What a woman ! I'm all better now , but does anyone know anything about Rachel ? What else has she been in , or sang in ?

  • Comment removed

  • Respond to this video... Wow..I did the same thing. I would watch my DVD of this over and over. It was my escape...it was entrancing. I still can't get over the vocals, these three women are angels.

  • @MrColinrogers Rachel is so beautiful....

  • @MrColinrogers

Rachel Fury is the stage name of Rachel Brennock, an English singer, songwriter and actor most widely known for performing with Pink Floyd on three world tours from 1987-1989.

Go to facebook and look for her profile and you will see a brief biography.

  • @MrColinrogers Glad you are feeling better, *ColinRogers*...(;o)* I don't know about Rachel, but, why don't you just try Google, putting her name and see what happens...(Funny that David Gilmour didn't answer you, since this is his channel...I met and interviewed Pink Floyd briefly, in Venice-Italy, in the early nineties!)

    Take care,

Melody Fox (aka the Princess of Rock)

Love Peace Musex (my logo and copyright word)

  • @MrColinrogers Rachel retired shortly after this tour, and gave up music. There were rumours of an affair with Gilmour. I am also in love.......

  • i want a reunion of this band, and a mundial tour !

  • 1:10. I really love it from that part till the end :-)

  • Rachel Fury

  • que buena version, la primer cantante me puso la piel de gallina

  • GodDAMN.

  • Wow! Goosebumps throughout the whole song. I didn't think anything else could come close to the original recording but I was just proven wrong. AMAZING!

  • Esta es la mejor version de todas las que vi hasta ahora incluyendo la de Pulse, es terrible la voz de la primer cantante!!!!, como se llama? alguien sabe?la tercera tambien canta muy bien!,

  • @S0LYD2 shouting????????

    insulting words dude!!

  • @wispa1a whoa whoa whooaaaa, it was a joke man!!!!!!! i love pink floyd in fact i remember leaving a comment on one of their vids stating that everything that pink floyd ever did was/is one complete masterpiece. they say michael angelo's sistene chapel artwork was a masterpiece, maybe so but floyds work is also one long masterpiece. im only 37 but ive been listening to them since i was 11 years old in my mothers front room and they're one of my all time favorite bands. Chill out man!!!

  • @giorgi89lucky please my friend, dont even imagine to compare again gaga and these queens.. just other leven

  • @fenando martinez

  • Pink Floyd will now,and forever,be my favorite band in the universe!!!

  • WOW makes you go cold such emotion outstanding you can not beat class floyd stand out there on there own first heard them when i was 12 years old still listen to them most days 39 now fantastic thanks for the music floyd the best by far :))))

  • I love Rachel Fury!!!!!!

  • Dislikers don't understand nothing about music

  • Thank god for youtube and pink floyd.Would absolutely love to have this on dvd but i dont think thats going to happen any time soon.Their must be alot of complications in making it happen. But i know without a doubt that pink floyd would make a shit load of cash in a very short time if it did happen.

  • Here's how I've always "scored" this performance:

    Margaret - 1st Place

    Rachel - 2nd Place

    Durga - 3rd Place

And I'm surprised that Margaret slipped off into relative obscurity... what a voice she has. Special props to my old friend Buford Jones from Mesquite! And my former boss Scott Page playing sax on this tour. : )

  • @LordSnow69 she gets right up there to the high notes, but her voice sounds a bit thinner than the other two imho

  • @johncransom I guess it's a matter of personal taste. To me, Rachel sounds a little bit nasally and Durga adds a southern black gospel angle to it that I don't particularly care for. However I will admit that Margaret sounds a little bit like one of the girls from Manhattan Transfer at times.

  • I've been watching this song (Video) for over 20 years. I first had the entire show on VHS.

  • is wright was on this tour ?

  • My favorite of them all, at around 2:25, that voice is out of this world....certainly this had to be the apex of these girls doing this song, of course Clare Torry is still ranked as No. 1.

  • One more question: do you know if there are videos from the French tour in 1974? Or where to find them? Thank you!

  • perfect

  • Hi Gilmour, when was it filmed in Versailles? In the 70ties during the French Pink Floyd tour? Thank you!

  • @Clatouffi It was filmed during the same tour of DSoT in 1988.

  • @Clatouffi

    In a nutshell bro

  • Best version of the song

  • The album version is sacred. Stunning voices and visuals in this performance.

  • sometimes.... only floyd can manage to satisfy

  • The adventure of life and fine tune, like a wave, takes us on a relentless journey to the beaches of pleasure and pain. A "great gig in the sky" where the voices are both a joy and a sigh ....

  • my first concert,i was 16,most have never gone to another concert

goosebumps every time i listen to them

  • Great, really great!

  • Perfection is here L & G. What a performance, what an atmosphere, what a video, what a great great band. British rock is THE BEST in the world. No band will ever be like Pink Floyd.

  • it's margaret taylor the best singer in this video!! THE 3RD GIRL!!!!!!!!

  • what's the name of the last girl singing? :)

  • The Great Gig In The Sky: maestosa interpretazione di Rachel Fury, la migliore in assoluto senza nulla togliere alle altre due ugualmente eccelse!

    Un brano immortale!

  • The voices are so powerful that every time I watch this part of the concert I got tears in my eyes... Beautyful

  • staggering !!!! at 4:20 .....goosebumps the size of fuckin golfballs !!!!! wow !!!!

  • exelenteeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

  • Excellent...Perfect....Beautiful.

    Thank You.

  • Fantastic!!!

  • Speechless

  • Davey,s one o the baddest mofo's to ever grace the guitar!

  • @jtankbossjj You have awesome taste in guitarists, my friend.

  • @CaptainMax2008 Thank u sir yers aint so bad neither! U seem knowledgable enough judging by your response. So I was wondering did dave ever use a mutron? Seems this effect would have been a great fit for him, but cant seem to remember anything that ever sounded like it. Granted most of his were always better anyway. The delecate sound of thunder has been in my collection for close to 20 years now and is still in the top 10 most played list and I hate hearing any song twice!

  • this version is so much better. i love the first singer, she is better than sam at it with her higher pitched vocals. sam is good don't get me wrong, but this is the best version of this song.

  • @louisemichelle00 and the last woman.. WOW!

  • @louisemichelle00 Check out the Bianca Antoinette version with Australian Pink Floyd. Im sure you'll be quite impressed with that as well! :)

  • @MrMoterhed Hey, i looked her up, yeah she is pretty amazing :) i've seen the aussie pink floyd live but i don't think antoinette was with them on that show. however, i think this video will always be the version i love the most :)

  • best live version I have seen for this song, same vocalists as when I saw it live in 87 in Cleveland and 88 in Pitt, brought tears to my eyes live.

  • GREAT!!!!!!!!!

  • DVD/Blu-Ray When???

  • @J24777

Tout simplement le plus grand de tous les temps !!!!

  • super ce groupe

  • Saw them live in 94 at the Oakland Coliseum and I can say that this was easily the best concert I have ever been too or will ever be at again. I own this on VHS but so wish that this would be re-released on DVD/Blu-Ray.

  • For my sweet little cat, Cassiopeia, who today sang her own version of "Great Gig", No more pain, sweetheart, just love. Rest peacefully.

  • Holy Shit that Asian chick can wail!!!!

  • woww amazing

  • ke buenas vocessss excelente calidad y sonido gracias por compartirlo, veras tu video tambien en mi sitio Lookedvideos (subtitulos y letras) GRACIAS y saludos =)

  • 4.05.. so emotional..! i love this version, Manchester same tour also is a killer, on the flip side, 9 people like rap!

  • I can die, touch the sky!!!

  • Is this on Blu- Ray Yet ? I would LOVE to Get it if So!!!!

  • F ing amazing version....This has been my band since the age of 12 when I bought "Dark Side of the Moon" because of the album cover. It completely transformed my life......If only I could go back 20 years!! Rock on people..

  • OMG!! First time hearing this version.....F ing amazing....This has been my band since the age of 12, when I bought "Dark Side of the Moon" for the album cover... It transformed my entire life... Rock on

  • The best song!!

    AMAZING BAND, THE BEST EVER!

  • how the hell do you "dislike" this?

  • eargasm, boner... all at the same time

  • I´m speechless.... oh miss Fury.. you´re a true gift.

  • How many of us would buy a dvd of this concert? everyone, Right!!! where is it? they need to put this out --I cant find it and have been waiting for years with no luck...

  • What ever happened to Rachel Fury?

  • @clumpy1dud she retired from singing the year this was shot.1989.

  • I saw this tour live, indoors, in Oakland Ca. ... indoors is just unreal, and when this played you could hear a pin drop - entire audience was spellbound!

  • GOOSE FUCKING PIMPLES DOWN MY SPINE. The 2nd and the 3rd girls are just out of this world with their vocals. One of my all time favourites "The Greatest Gig in the Sky"

  • Simply breathtaking

  • I dont think that this song would work if a dude tried to sing it...I think its a chicks only song, because of the raw emotion that is needed to give the song that umph! Just a random thought!

  • Call me stupid, whatever, but today's generation got nothing compared to these people, who were born at leas in the early 90s.

  • @Anger9172

You're completely right, and that makes me very sad. Even if there are some kind of bands like Pink Floyd, they probably wouldn't be given the chance to show themselves to the world and are probably doomed to playing in dirty bars forever. The nowadays pop culture and probably more than half of the world population just aren't very approving of such music types, Very sad indeed. We need some new Floyd-type band to show us the world isn't completely dead yet!

  • ha isnt this funny i spend hours at colledge in plymouth at Deep Blue Sound Recording Studio learning how to mix and i spend countless hours instead of doing midi sequencing i watch pink floyd all day everyday !!! :D

  • There isn't a better version of this song...........

  • I get teary eyed every time i watch this.

  • I have seen Pink Floyd 7 times over the past many years and this is by far the best line up, Rachel Durga and Margaret still give me goose bumps and so many great memories of the night of the concert, thank you pink floyd and god bless Richard Wright.

  • I once had a dear friend who was a dead ringer for Rachel Fury... She couldn't sing like that, but whenever I hear Rachel's Lamenting voice I think back to the late 80s and wonder where she is now.

  • The "I never said I was afraid of dying" is Naomi Watts' mom.

  • Durga really nails it, but so do the other 2 vocalists. I am wowed by all three
