This is my favorite live version of The Great Gig in the Sky. I saw the Delicate Sound of Thunder Tour at the JFK in Philadelphia. The trio sang this song note for note and I listen in amazement as the band played on, I had goose bumps and the hair was standing on my arms.
I've been lucky enough to see the band several times. My first show was the Wish You Where Here and Animals Tour at the Spectrum in Philadelphia. I also saw The Wall in NY at the Nassau Coliseum and a few more times.
@ecd60 So, so lucky! I never got to see the Floyd during their run. (missed them in '94, Chicago) But seeing them multiple times in concert, on the best tours, you, my friend, are LUCKY! :)

Wow! Goosebumps throughout the whole song. I didn't think anything else could come close to the original recording but I was just proven wrong. AMAZING!
Esta es la mejor version de todas las que vi hasta ahora incluyendo la de Pulse, es terrible la voz de la primer cantante!!!!, como se llama? alguien sabe?la tercera tambien canta muy bien!,

@wispa1a whoa whoa whooaaaa, it was a joke man!!!!!!! i love pink floyd in fact i remember leaving a comment on one of their vids stating that everything that pink floyd ever did was/is one complete masterpiece. they say michael angelo's sistene chapel artwork was a masterpiece, maybe so but floyds work is also one long masterpiece. im only 37 but ive been listening to them since i was 11 years old in my mothers front room and they're one of my all time favorite bands. Chill out man!!!
I have seen only Roger Waters The Wall live and i wish i could seen Pink Floyd performing together... but now i will never see them... maybe i will but see Roger,David and Nick but without Rick it's not the same :/
i have heard most versions of this song they are all good very good, but even them can't come close ti this version. I just can't understand one thing this girl must they we are singers and Gaga too? Wtf gaga and all crap like her even dont have 1 of 100000 piece voice they do amd the have over 100 views and this song and singers lil more 100k? that's so fuckin' not fare damn.

And I'm surprised that Margaret slipped off into relative obscurity... what a voice she has. Special props to my old friend Buford Jones from Mesquite! And my former boss Scott Page playing sax on this tour. : )
@johncransom I guess it's a matter of personal taste. To me, Rachel sounds a little bit nasally and Durga adds a southern black gospel angle to it that I don't particularly care for. However I will admit that Margaret sounds a little bit like one of the girls from Manhattan Transfer at times.
My favorite of them all, at around 2:25, that voice is out of this world....certainly this had to be the apex of these girls doing this song, of course Clare Torry is still ranked as No. 1.
The adventure of life and fine tune, like a wave, takes us on a relentless journey to the beaches of pleasure and pain. A "great gig in the sky" where the voices are both a joy and a sigh ....
Perfection is here L & G. What a performance, what an atmosphere, what a video, what a great great band. British rock is THE BEST in the world. No band will ever be like Pink Floyd.
@CaptainMax2008 Thank u sir yers aint so bad neither! U seem knowledgable enough judging by your response. So I was wondering did dave ever use a mutron? Seems this effect would have been a great fit for him, but cant seem to remember anything that ever sounded like it. Granted most of his were always better anyway. The delecate sound of thunder has been in my collection for close to 20 years now and is still in the top 10 most played list and I hate hearing any song twice!
this version is so much better. i love the first singer, she is better than sam at it with her higher pitched vocals. sam is good don't get me wrong, but this is the best version of this song.
@MrMoterhed Hey, i looked her up, yeah she is pretty amazing :) i've seen the aussie pink floyd live but i don't think antoinette was with them on that show. however, i think this video will always be the version i love the most :)
Saw them live in 94 at the Oakland Coliseum and I can say that this was easily the best concert I have ever been too or will ever be at again. I own this on VHS but so wish that this would be re-released on DVD/Blu-Ray.
ke buenas vocessss excelente calidad y sonido gracias por compartirlo, veras tu video tambien en mi sitio Lookedvideos (subtitulos y letras) GRACIAS y saludos =)
F ing amazing version....This has been my band since the age of 12 when I bought "Dark Side of the Moon" because of the album cover. It completely transformed my life......If only I could go back 20 years!! Rock on people..
OMG!! First time hearing this version.....F ing amazing....This has been my band since the age of 12, when I bought "Dark Side of the Moon" for the album cover... It transformed my entire life... Rock on

How many of us would buy a dvd of this concert? everyone, Right!!! where is it? they need to put this out --I cant find it and have been waiting for years with no luck...
I saw this tour live, indoors, in Oakland Ca. ... indoors is just unreal, and when this played you could hear a pin drop - entire audience was spellbound!
GOOSE FUCKING PIMPLES DOWN MY SPINE. The 2nd and the 3rd girls are just out of this world with their vocals. One of my all time favourites "The Greatest Gig in the Sky"
I dont think that this song would work if a dude tried to sing it...I think its a chicks only song, because of the raw emotion that is needed to give the song that umph! Just a random thought!
You're completely right, and that makes me very sad. Even if there are some kind of bands like Pink Floyd, they probably wouldn't be given the chance to show themselves to the world and are probably doomed to playing in dirty bars forever. The nowadays pop culture and probably more than half of the world population just aren't very approving of such music types, Very sad indeed. We need some new Floyd-type band to show us the world isn't completely dead yet!
ha isnt this funny i spend hours at colledge in plymouth at Deep Blue Sound Recording Studio learning how to mix and i spend countless hours instead of doing midi sequencing i watch pink floyd all day everyday !!! :D
I have seen Pink Floyd 7 times over the past many years and this is by far the best line up, Rachel Durga and Margaret still give me goose bumps and so many great memories of the night of the concert, thank you pink floyd and god bless Richard Wright.
@bishop045 hey there *Bishop045, totally agree with all that you wrote! Amazing...awesome...I saw this gig...and I was also in Venice in 1989 (on the VIP ferry), seeing their gig on the laguna and interviewing them...**What a show, wherever they go!**
I once had a dear friend who was a dead ringer for Rachel Fury... She couldn't sing like that, but whenever I hear Rachel's Lamenting voice I think back to the late 80s and wonder where she is now.

@louisemichelle00 Check out the Bianca Antoinette version with Australian Pink Floyd. Im sure you'll be quite impressed with that as well! :)

@MrMoterhed Hey, i looked her up, yeah she is pretty amazing :) i've seen the aussie pink floyd live but i don't think antoinette was with them on that show. however, i think this video will always be the version i love the most :)

best live version I have seen for this song, same vocalists as when I saw it live in 87 in Cleveland and 88 in Pitt, brought tears to my eyes live.

Saw them live in 94 at the Oakland Coliseum and I can say that this was easily the best concert I have ever been too or will ever be at again. I own this on VHS but so wish that this would be re-released on DVD/Blu-Ray.

Call me stupid, whatever, but today's generation got nothing compared to these people, who were born at leas in the early 90s.

@Anger9172

I once had a dear friend who was a dead ringer for Rachel Fury... She couldn't sing like that, but whenever I hear Rachel's Lamenting voice I think back to the late 80s and wonder where she is now.
