  • Note that I am only doing them repetitively for the purposes of this video...usually I only do one, or maybe two, in a dance...

And god, that bounce...it's always interesting to look back on oneself a year or two later....

  • This is Enganchada as per Oscar who dances with Mary Ann Casas.

  • it is a back cross. It is also referred to as the "Back Volcada" by Homer Ladas. I agree with both.

  • This is a beautiful little step, I want to learn this one.!

    Best regards Joseph

  • I don't speak the english well. The step is called: "Eight Suspended". It is neither "Volcada" nor "Enganchada".

"La Volcada" is when the woman is inclined and she draws an arc. La Volcada is family of the calecita.

"El Enganche" is when the leg of the woman enlists, grasps or embraces the leg or body of the man.

  • crossing back ochos

  • Perhaps it would be fairer to say that the deeper ones are enganchadas and the smaller ones are more like back crosses. I feel the enganchada is a more leisurely move, as is the volcada, emphasising the use of the free leg.

  • I also received a comment that it's called "ochos en estilo milonguero"... but not to be confused with "milonguero ochos" which is supposedly something different...

  • This move is called an enganchada. Check out Oscar Casas (the maestro) on YouTube.

  • enganchada

  • ochos atras or back crosses

  • Note that I am doing a lot of them in sequence to demo the move only....I would never do this many dancing...usually only one or two...
