The problem with Greece, Spain, Ireland and the other endangered European contries is not economic but structural. No heavy or at least competitive industry for export to other countries, lots of politicians that squander the national treasury for doing nothing but augmenting their already inflated salaries and for vote-reaping welfare.
The welfare state must come to an end. How come that a 50% must work twice has hard to maintain the other 50% that doesn't work and lives out of state welfare

The UK is not a member of the single currency (Euro) they have sterling , The UK is a member of the European Union, I hope Greece can resolve their issues and a structured default can be agreed in order to enable Greece to pay back some of its debts without destroying the economy with tax rises and cuts to pensions, social security/welfare & wages. In 2009 the debt of my country Greece was 298,7 billion euros. After the IMF and EU "help" the dept in 2010 has increased up to 328,6 billion.It is even more this year.Not to mention the recession that shrinks even more the GDP.Why this is happening? Because the government has increased even more the taxes (electricity/gas bills,food,drinks) and at the same time it has reduced the salaries.Their plan is fucking useless. I have so many friends that lost their jobs this year including me!
