2:32 That ex seismo cancel was stupid/brilliant. It was a very good guess (or read) and takes guts 2 perform, but the timing was completely wrong! Here we have Sagat with 2 bars and Ultra, he could easily do TU-fadc-Ultra. The invincibility on EX seismo has enough invincibilty 2 avoid TU but EX seismo CANCEL doesnt resulting in a counter hit. Also Sagat was standing near the corner so a normal Ex seismo could be followed up by a combo. In short: it was the coolest stupid decission ever.

I think Sanford figures that Super SF4 is coming out...and pretty much everyone in the west will stop playing the original. So why not try to win every single tournament you can with the best possible character you can? Like it or not, Sagat is god tier in this game...

Sagat may still be top tier in SSF4, but his game might be totally different now...

@vtrly514vly99nigerss One thing I've noticed about the majority of Sagat's I play online is that they are mostly counterpickers. The other thing I've notice about Sagat players is that they usually turtle and rely on the Tiger uppercut, F roundhouse to ultra combo.

That Viper could've won. Unfortunately he made too many mistakes that left him wide open to that turtling Sagat.

Sagat is a character in GENERAL, most people flop to because he gives people all the tools necessary for wins, damage, zoning, combos, DAMAGE.

However, Sanford himself is a BEAST as a whole, he uses Sagat unlike most others, blocks perfectly and punishes things most people wouldn't even be able to, eg, dash backs with Kara DP.

It's not like I have any personal beef with sagat since I dont really give a shit about him but we all have to acknowledge the fact that sagat is indeed overpowered. @ClutchModeEngaged SFIV is overall pretty balanced and if you know fighting games 6-4 is pretty balanced its rare two characters are perfectly equal. akuma, balrog, rufus and blanka are all 6-4 matchups with viper aswell i guess they're op against her like sagat is too you. ryu, balrog, seth and ken are other 6-4 matchups against gouken, I guess they dominate him easily since your so convinced sagat does.

@PhiLaEmJaY You need to quit running to the Event Hubs tier list and/or at least have an understanding of the list and how it works. SFIV is pretty balanced, but Sagat is very overpowered. If you don't agree with that then you're a blind fanboy. I respect someone like AuLord or Iyo because they stick with their underpowered character and can win many bad matchups. There's even a vid of Sanford talking about how powerful certain characters are and, "Fuck it, if you wanna win pick a top tier."

Basically you are saying that Sagat is number 1 not because he dominates, but because nobody can hang with him.

Nobody is saying he is a win button, but when you take a good player and add Sagat, you get a combination that ruins the game.

Justin and Marn used Sagat to counterpick at FR, with Justin winning the tournament. WCW had 4 Sagats in top 16. And don't get me started on Japan.

I asked anyone to name recent tournaments where sagats have been winning at such a higher rate then others and ultimately deciding the winners. i honestly don't have a problem with sagat. even though he's top tier, he isn't nearly as broken as the top tier characters in most games. everyboy has a chance of winning against him. i don't want to hear it, if Mago (top Sagat in Japan) can lose to Choco (Blanka) or Sanford losing to flash in winners, its winable. why they lose to sanford's sagat is because he's godlike. and this is coming from a blanka player.

@jonnitti1 only problem I can tell from Sagat is his damage advantage. In most cases it requires a lot less guessing from him to win a match than from his opponent. It's so sad to see FlashM getting so many openings to do damage yet one mistake and its pretty much game over for him.

@ederondotcom yeah but you see, regardless of his damage and requiring less guessing, if you are a top sagat player, you're still godlike. only the good sagats make it to grands. with sagat i realized its either your godlike, pretty good, or scrubby. hes not that easy of a character to learn. if you want an easy character, blanka can sit back and do barely anything all game, watch the realyst and balrog and ryu are very steamline. but that doesnt make top balrogs or ryus scrubs.

@mxtra22 yeah but the thing is a lot of characters have quick comebacks, not all. ryu has the srk into ultra, rufus has ex messiah fadc ultra, short>rh into ultra and air rh into ultra, blanka can link a low foward into ultra (or sometimes even a random ultra), ken has low foward into super and almost everyone has a jumping roundhouse into ultra.

Exactly. I think it's scrubby to complain about a character like Sagat - it shows how unfocused you are as a player. As you've stated, there's much worse top tier characters in other fighters. If I were balancing Super; I wouldn't mess with his damage output at all. Just reduce his stamina, lower his stun meter, and take away his trades. Reducing his damage hurts what the character is about, IMO.
